I'm a retired US Coast Guard Licensed Captain with Sailing and Great Lakes endorsements. I had a more normal career for many years selling computer systems for physician offices, then did a stint as a yacht broker for my first two years of retirement. I lived and cruised full time aboard my 32 ft Endeavour sailboat for several years, then began cruising on land full time in my new-to-me RV.
My blog is more about the adventures I've enjoyed, like sailing thousands of miles aboard my small sailboat, singlehanding most of the time. Also, sailing and RVing with friends and family on occasion.
Selling and Sailing are my skills, but to be more specific, I seem to be able to get along with almost everyone regardless of their politics, background, ethnicity, nationality or upbringing. I have significant experience negotiating contracts with attorneys, accountants and business professionals. If you need a spokesperson or someone to represent you, I'm comfortable writing and speaking one-on-one and before groups.
Some of my stories might be of interest and many can be accessed on my blog: CaptMurph.blogspot.com.
Rural settings are most attractive to me, but I often boondock in parking lots or rest areas when enroute between destinations as I am merely looking for a reasonable place to prepare a meal and sleep for the night. I found a nice place that overlooked the water in Florida and enjoyed water views as they reminded me of my times at anchor when cruising my sailboat full time.
I've only read about boondocking on Federal Lands out west and am looking forward to that.
I'm a full timer, so I'm always home! I was raised in the midwest, Ohio and Indiana, then raised my own family in western Pennsylvania for 30 years until 2010 when I retired, later divorced (she got the house, I got the boat and we're both happy) and now looking for more fun adventures.
Class C, white 2012 Ford E-350, Thor Majestic with No slideouts. Bicycle rack on rear that can carry two bikes. No tow vehicle, No trailer. While my rig uses 30 amp electrical power, I have adapters so I can use standard 15 amp, 3 prong power and 50 amp outlets. My gas generator runs off my engine's gas fuel tank and can be heard but isn't as loud as many others. My aircon was new in 2019 so also runs quieter than most. I have an extremely quiet 12v fan so I often don't need aircon overnight. My fresh water, grey and black water tanks are large enough that I often go a week or more without refilling or dumping. Had a nice visit . Was cold so we Made it a Short one. Maybe better weather next time. Hopefully he will come again. He is more than welcome any time.
Very nice gentleman, was a pleasure to share my yard with, he is welcome to stop by anytime
Due to Covid we did not get to visit much. I am sure he as some stories I would like to hear. He is welcome back at any time.
With the rainy weather we had on Saturday we did not get much time to visit with Sailingkelly. Even with the short amount of time we had we would definitely have him back as a guest again.
SailingKelly is easygoing and fun to talk to. He is the type of guest that we hoped for when signing up for Boondockers. We hope you stop in again someday so we can visit more. You are more than welcome anytime. Best wishes and safe travels!
It was a pleasure to host for Sailingkelly. Nice guy. I enjoyed talking with him.
Very nice man who was familiar with the area since he went to Wabash College. We didn’t have a lot of time to chat but what we did do we enjoyed hearing about his travels both by yacht and his motorhome. He is more than welcome back anytime , would love to hear more about his travels.
Go Little Giants!!
Very friendly, knowledgeable (about sailing and selling anyway ;- ) ) person with a good attitude for traveling. Really kept us aware of progress, checked in with us, parked and was just great to have here. We're hoping he will stop again but leave the rain/cold up north.
Linda and I had a great time Hosting Murph who we never even knew was on our property at times. His Motor homes air conditioner was so quiet we hardly noticed it running. Very down to earth gentleman who shared with us about his boating adventures before he became a Boondocker! He is welcome back anytime.
We enjoyed hosting Sailingkelly this week. Due to the current pandemic, we did not socialize much with him but were glad he could make use of our humble driveway space near Annapolis. He is welcome back anytime. Enjoyed reading his blog journal online.
Very nice couple and glad it worked for them to stay beside our home!
Wished we would've had more time to get to know them, but maybe next time!
Great guests, very friendly, super respectful, and so quiet we didn’t know they were here! Safe travels guys!!!!
A pleasure to host sailingkelly. They respected, and I hope, enjoyed the land.
Would welcome them back again.
Hope you get to meet this lovely couple.
We were not home as we were traveling ourselves when these guests stayed at our home. We had another set of boondockers last night and my neighbor came out and started talking about the guests that were here "while we were gone." According to T-Man they were great guests for the short time they stayed and we look forward to hosting them again in the future so we can talk sailing!
We were away during SailingKelly’s stay but I trust they were still able to enjoy TurkeyHills! Come back anytime!
A courteous and delightful couple, with whom we enjoyed a most pleasant conversation and refreshment. We look forward to following their adventures. We are so pleased with Boondockers Welcome continuing to introduce wonderful people into our lives.
