In 2017, we bought a small (2 acres) farmette, named it "Whit Acres" and turned it into our retirement home (without the animals). We turned one garage-sized outbuilding into a sewing-craft room for Susan. Susan is very talented; sewing, quilting, woodworking, crafts, etc. We turned a chicken coup into a woodworking shop for George. George is a Home Improvement Contractor with a small two-man business helping homeowners do what they can't do. We have two other outbuildings that used to house pigs, horses, turkeys, etc. They are empty and just used for storage. Our home is just less than a mile from the main freeway, Rt 100 in Pottstown, PA. We have a 2019 Forest River 24 Ft. Travel Trailer and a Ram 1500 Pickup tow vehicle.
Since our rig is here and plugged into to our home electrical system, we can help out in a jam of power that is needed in an urgent situation. We only have a 20 amp circuit feeding a 30 amp plug to our RV. Though it's not enough to do much in the way of air conditioning, it keeps our rig in great shape when not in use and keeps our batteries charged up.
We have a black and white cat named Tucker. A real hunter. He is an outdoor-indoor cat with his own entrance into and out of the house. Tucker does NOT travel with us. We also have a little red, girl, Rosie a Cavaliere King Charles Spaniel who weighs in at 18 lbs. Rosie goes where we go, including vacations or other RV outings.
We have just started on the journey of boondocking so we have not accumulated any sites on our list to choose a favorite.
Pottstown spans two counties; Chester and Montgomery County. Montgomery is the county we live in. Pottstown has been home for us, for most of the time, between 1985 and now. We are about a half-hour from the Spring Mount Ski Resort so winter skiing is here and easily accessible. Going west, we are about 45 minutes from Lancaster County (Amish horse and buggy land). Also about an hour north of the Delaware state line. The Poconos are very close; about an hour's drive.
Our rig is a 2019 Forest River 24RKHL pulled by a Ram 1500 Pickup.
Both G and his wife are utterly amazing, and I loved spending time with them and their fur babies.
They are utterly amazing. Not only does G make you feel at home but their beautiful animals are friendly as well. I feel so lucky to stay at Whitt Acres.
