Ben and I spent most of our adult lives in the Washington DC suburbs, where we raised children and pursued fulfilling careers, Ben as a labor lawyer and me as a school psychologist. When not on Cape Cod, where we retired in 2010, we have enjoyed extensive travel using home exchanges and affordable travel clubs, both abroad and in the US. We like many outdoor sports, including hiking, biking and kayaking/canoeing.
Ben and I have recently bought a Coronavirus-era travel bubble in the guise of a 2008 Roadtrek 170 Popular. We are happy to be entering our "glamping" by campervan phase of life and are looking forward to getting to know new people and places while embarking on this new mode of travel. We are looking forward to taking some road trips in the US starting in the fall of 2020, to visit far flung kids and grandkids, as well as to explore the many natural wonders of our continent.
We can share our experiences doing home exchanges and using hospitality clubs as really fun and economical means of travel.
We are new to RV travel so would love to hear from other, more experienced boondockers.
Ben and I have been happily retired in Barnstable, Cape Cod, MA since 2010, where we enjoy the company of relatives and friends, enjoy the natural beauty here, take courses, read books, etc. At some point in the near future, we hope to host other BoondockerWelcome members. However, first we have to carve out a dedicated home for our Roadtrek "Pearl" at the bottom of our long driveway. At that point we will be able to have room for one small Class B camper at the top of the drive near the house. Stay tuned!
We have a 2008 Roadtrek 170 Popular, a small self-contained camper van.
We only had time for a brief visit but, based on that, discovered we had common interests which would have been fun to explore. Next time🌟
MarcyBen were quiet guests, a quick overnight and back on the road.
Always welcome back - hopefully we can visit longer next time.
An extremely nice grandparent couple who are busy touring and visiting their relatives who cant travel because of COVID. I’d host them again!
Wow! Marcy and Ben were the perfect guests! We could have visited forever. They communicated well, was respectful of our house rules, distancing precautions, and took some time to chat with us even after a long drive. We had so much in common esp since we both travel in Vans. They were very appreciative of our hosting spot and took suggestions of where to visit when they left. We sure do hope to see them again on our travels. Once again, we received more than we gave. Def recommend you hosting them also.
It’s hard to comment on over nite stays. We enjoyed the time we visited and would have enjoyed more time with them
We had a nice visit. We wish them well on their extended trip.
MarcyBen were only here for a very short overnight stay, but the communication leading up to their stay was excellent. We would definitely welcome them back.
From the moment we welcomed them to our property to the day they left, we knew we will be seeing these folks again. It was a true pleasure getting to know them by the fire pit and on the rainy day under cover on the screened deck (keeping with social distancing). They left the location in the same condition which it was in before they came. It was great to have them stay! And you will not regret saying yes to their request to stay.
Most enjoyable couple. We had nice conversations in the screen porch and enjoyed learning of their travels. Welcome back anytime.
All around good people, respectful and appreciative!
Good communication prior to arrival.
We immediately felt comfortable with them right from the meet and greet, as they are friendly and very interesting, with a great sense of humor!
Their short stay was very pleasurable to say the least! We enjoyed lively and academic conversations about anything and everything, but especially travel stories by the campfire.
We know we will see them in the future!
They came as strangers and left as friends!!!
If you should get a request from MarcyBen, don’t hesitate, just accept their request, you'll be glad you did!
It was great to host this lovely couple on their first "shakedown cruise." Many years of happy travel to you!
MarcyBen were terrific guests! Good communication prior to arrival, friendly and outgoing upon arrival. The COVID situation prevented extended conversations or face to face interactions. It was great meeting them as they begin their adventure in their new to them Roadtrek 170. Best of lick and safe travels.
MarcyBen were a joy to host, as they began the process of working out the camping "kinks" prior to their grand adventure. Very much enjoyed a relaxing chat, sharing some our own RV travel hints and mishaps. Wishing them the best on their x-country trip, and heartily endorse them to Boondocker hosts along the way.
