My wife and I moved out on the farm about 10 years ago. We were formerly city dwellers in the Chicago area. We are close to having an empty nest as our two college students will graduate soon. My wife and I are looking forward to seeing the country with the camper we just purchased at the end of 2019.

Skills & Expertise to Share

I'm told that I'm a little bit of a technology MacGyver. I am an avid BBQ enthusiast and enjoy smoking meats low and slow. I am up for seeing other pitmasters techniques and BBQ hardware.

dgoner's Pets

We have 3 Basset Hounds on the property contained within an invisible fence. On occasion we may travel with our animals.

Favorite Boondocking Locations

I don't have much boondocking / rv experience yet. We purchased our camper in October of 2019 and are just getting our feet wet. Our favorite place to vacation to is currently Edisto Beach, SC also enjoying Charleston. Our bucket list destinations are Yellowstone, Key West, Yosemite, Acadia, and Glacier.

What an enjoyable visit!!

We hosted two great people and three beautiful Basset Hound puppies. We spent time with them next to our pond in a bonfire and lots of conversation. It was a delight to have them here. Only hope they come again for a longer stay. We seem to have so many things in common. We are definitely happy we signed up as Hosts.
Our treats later were especially delicious.

Quick stop in the teardrop camper!

Very nice couple with a really unique little camper! Had a great time sharing some stories and talking about some unique “must stop” places that we had experienced in our travels! Safe travels!!

Great spot out in the country

Dgoner greeted us with fresh peanut butter cookies on arrival. Beautiful homestead farm with lots of room. Easy access, and fairly level mowed field to set up in. Our big rig felt right at home, and we were sung to sleep by the crickets and frogs. If you are able to dry camp for an overnight, this is the ideal spot near Nappanee or Elkhart to stay prior to any repairs, upgrade, or custom furniture builds.

Amazing place!

What a great spot. It was level, private, beautiful, and no bugs. There are train tracks nearby, and trains do come at night, but other than that it was perfect.
