My name is Shawn Cookson. I'm a "happy-go-lucky" kind of guy and believes that the world is full of good, kind- hearted people. My passion is helping those in need and want to be helped. I had spent the past 17 years as a law enforcement professional in numerous types of arenas.

My first job after graduating "kowlij" was being a correctional officer a maximum security prison (Stateville C.C.). Serial killers like John Wayne Gacy, Richard Speck and Woody Harrelson had once stayed. Wait! To clarify: Woody Harrelson "played" as serial killer in the movie "Natural Born Killers" which was filmed there.

My ticket out of prison (does that sound bad?) was becoming a University Police Officer in Chicago and a part-timer with the Sleepy Hollow Police Department (yes, the town exists and there is a headless horseman).

The following eleven years were at a suburban police department of Chicago until leaving after having two brain surgeries. The surgeries were successful but "slowed me down" quite a bit. I found that writing has helped alot mentally, emotionally and physically. It's taking sometime unlearning the robotic, "just da facts ma'am" style of writing and after A LOT of proofreading, I am getting better.

I love traveling spontaneously; taking a nice, slow pace while capturing as much as I can with my senses. Now that I have the opportunity, traveling the world is changing from a dream to reality.

I would love to go traveling in other countries, but I have an elderly dog that I care about very much. So I decided on getting a camper and travel the US until she departs.
