Do you know or have you hosted this user?

My wife, two children and I built and live in a single axle converted enclosed cargo trailer/sustainable homestead(?) (7x7x14) We also travel with one very very friendly and always hungry pup by the name of Anchor and 4 silkie chikens! Our sink, and toilet are completely self contained. Additionally, we have a 20 gallon wheeled tote tank for grey water for the shower and laundry; as well as fresh water storage inside. We currently have a 750W solar array mounted on top and a 20a plug and play for shore power with an open switch inverter that allows us to charge batteries via shore power on low sun days. Our tow vehicle is n an f-150 Extended cab. We garden in the warmer months, forage across states and preserve food for the road and/or sell at local farmers markets. Additionally, I run trap lines in the winter months and am also an accomplished tattoo artists allowing me to find temporary work wherever we land.

Skills & Expertise to Share

Musically and artistically inclined. We always have a plethora of musical instruments on board. We express our creativity through music and art. We love the outdoors we forage as much as possible. We carve custom violins, paint murals, sketch small illustrations and of course indulge in our records or instruments. My kids love animals and, unfortunately, video games.

Houdini87's Pets

We have one very well behaved dog named Anchor. He's a cuddly terrier pit mix and his loyalty rests with whoever has treats in their pocket. We also have 4 silkie chickens that roam with us, theyre pretty quiet and have a small collapsible pen we put them in outside.

Houdini87's Hometown

We hail from different small towns in different states, my fiance and I, both nestled in the heart of the midwest. Illinois and Wisconsin. We have a good friend who owns acres of farm land that allows us to take advantage of (while respecting) the land and hold up through the winter months.

Adventure of a lifetime!

We enjoyed hosting this traveling family at our place for the week. Ryan, Ally, and the family look like they're on an epic adventure. We liked hearing about where they'd been, where they plan to go next, and trials and tribulations along the way. It was also great comparing notes with fellow cargo trailer conversion campers. Their 7x14 trailer doesn't look like much but has all the amenities that four people, four chickens, and one dog could want. They were quiet and respectful during their stay and left the place as they found it. Safe travels!

We enjoyed hosting this family complete with their dog and silkies! He helped our neighbor and us with drainage situation after big rains, our bar ditches were in need of attention. They offered to help with yard work as well. Very interesting rig and we'd be happy to host again.

Respectful

It was fun visiting with Houdini about their adventures and their chickens. Would be glad to have them visit again. Maybe then we could learn which mushrooms were safe.
