60 yr old semi-retired hardware store owner, traveling with my wife and her rescue dog. We enjoy camping in State Parks and hiking, kayaking, riding bikes, anything outdoors.
Today I spend most of my time talking about Tools, Hardware and farm supplies. I enjoy welding, fabricating, woodworking, electrical work, carpentry, and general maintenance. I’ve been camping and traveling around the US for 30 years.
Yes, our rescue dog is part Sharpei and part retriever. He is a good dog and doesn’t bark.
I am new to boondocking, but we camped with no amenities in Joshua Tree National Park in September of 2019.
We live in Fairbury, Illinois. A “one-stop-light” town of about 4000 that is a good mix of farming community and small business. Strong Christian faith and farm-to-table producers supplying fine restaurants with quality beef, pork, chicken, eggs, veggies, milk, and more. I grew up on the farm we live at, and where my business(Fairbury Fastener & Suppy), is located.

Dwlfft was only here overnight, but they seemed like a nice couple, and they were very understanding about having to share their spot with a full timer on chemo who was self quarantining from the covid-19 virus. We were happy to be able to provide them a quiet spot to rest from the days travels😊
Dwifft was in the driveway when we pulled up, showed us several options for parking, and after we were set up offered me a tour of his store. It was very impressive, and I could have spent hours browsing the tool section! His wife met us while we were setting up, and within minutes we were discussing shared experiences in the military. Great hosts, and the only downside to the stay was the noise from the highway and the steel warehouse across the highway that operated 24/7. Even with that, we slept well.
