Jan & both graduated from Kansas State Univ. After a tour in USAF as pilot, we farmed in north central Kansas for 35 yrs. We have 3 children, Traci has 3 boys, Lesley has 1 boy, Brent is single, he came back to farm in 2006. We leased our operation to him. We still help when needed. We have more hobbies than we can keep up with. Jan has always been a musician(piano & organ), she is into quilting, gardening, & "Grandma". I like to fly aerobatics, ride motorcycle, & like to restore anything(I've got more ideas than I've got done). We both enjoy skiing and teaching kids to ski. We do a lot of woodworking & restoring old furniture. We love to travel, have a 23' motorhome, and have spent 6-7 weeks on the road each year since retirement. We've made it to all 50 states, all but one Canadian Prov. & about 1/2 of Mexico. Always looking for a new experiance.
I'll try fixing anything. Does music, cooking, "Grandma",flying, skiing, woodworking count.
Anywhere. Alaska was good. Love Canada.

This couple from Kansas were personable and friendly. The first night they stayed up by the house and plugged in so they could use air conditioning etc. The second evening their preference was to dry camp out by the pond. My wife and I had a family obligation the first night and had to leave on a trip the second so didn't get to spend as much time with our guests as we would have liked. We would be glad to host them again!
Very quiet place out in the country. Definitely get directions from the host as our GPS wanted to go down the wrong dirt road. We really enjoyed our evening getting to know our hosts. Thank you very much for providing us with a very quiet and level spot to spend the night. I wish we would’ve had time to take up the offer of visiting the farm but unfortunately we had a long day of driving ahead of us. We hope if you Ever get down to Florida you’ll stop in and visit with us as well.
Loved the quiet place and shared beliefs Great stay even though it was short!
This was my first time boondocking and I feel like I have 2 new friends. My hosts were very welcoming and helpful. I can't think of anything else they could have done to make me feel more comfortable. I'm already thinking that next year I would love to come the same direction just so I can visit with them again. Many thanks for everything.
After a long days travel from our home in the CO high-country we arrived just after sunset. They invited us into their Earth-Sheltered Passive Solar home (in my mind my hero's for building such a resource) for a meal, saving us from cooking/cleaning as we enjoyed their ski adventure stories. We hope to ski with them if they get to CO. The spot for our RV was level & quiet. In the a.m., we got a tour of their farmstead & we hit the road.
We (especially our 10-year-old, but us too!) had the time of our lives on their farm! We happened to luck out and arrived during wheat harvest time and got to ride in the combine. Super hosts, such a lovely spot, the lightening bugs were amazing, like natural fireworks. Highly recommend!!!
We really enjoyed our stay with rjmccoll. We arrived late afternoon and he gave us the tour of the farm and then we enjoyed a wonderful home cooked meal with them at their table. We were pretty bushed from our 7+ hour travel day so we retired in our coach (in their driveway) and were gone shortly after sun-up.
Very quiet location, quite a little trip off the beaten path, but that added to the enjoyment and restful evening. If we find ourselves in the area again, we would most definately look for the opportunity again and we welcome them to our home in Ohio.
What a nice experience. Wonderful hosts. Response time was minutes. Not only did they give us a wonderful tour of their farm and earth house, they even fed us. It was interesting and educational to learn the names of different farm crops and special rock in the area. Thanks again for making the stop so interesting.
