Gene is a retired Air Traffic Controller. Sher has had many careers, Med Tech, Accountant, Medical Software Developer, Massage Therapist, construction worker, and EMT. Just can't decide what I want to be!! We're now both retired and trying to get on the road full time. Our main goal is to travel with purpose - finding volunteer opportunities where ever we go, especially in disaster recovery and anything to do with animals.
Sher has been a First Aid/CPR instructor for years, so she can easily teach the basics, especially if you'd like to learn hands-only CPR.
Gene knows a little bit about a lot of things and a lot about some things. If you need help with something - ask. If he can help, he certainly will.
We don't currently have a pet. We've always had dogs and cats and we may again, some day.
We're new to boondocking - so we'll let you know later.
We consider Las Cruces, NM our hometown, but we currently live in Red Hill, NM
We have a 23', class C, Winnebago Fuse. It is 10' 1" at the air conditioner. We have 1 slide on the passenger side. We generally tow a jeep wrangler. With the tow vehicle, our combined length is about 42'.
Wonderful hosts and great peoples. A beautiful place, and it was great sharing stories and hearing about their travel experiences during our informal happy hour. This place is like a postcard, not a sound around, except for the bird songs and the clearest night sky you could ever hope for. What else would you need for a perfect stay?
Sher & Gene are extraordinary hosts. From meeting me in town where I followed them to their home, to helping me park they were pros at this stuff. We had a wonderful evening chatting on their porch with a 2nd guest they had. This was the best evening I've enjoyed in a long time. Their home is very unique and I enjoyed how quiet their property was. If they still are hosting guests on my return I'll defiantly stay again! Thanks!
What a fun experience to stay overnight on this unique property! The hosts are the MOST, and go to Herculean efforts to allow guests to stay with them.
Happy Hour with these interesting folks & a tour of their straw bale home is an added bonus!
Thank you, Gene & Sher, for your hospitality!
I never felt more welcome and accepted than I was by this couple. They were fun, pragmatic, helpful and so very gracious and generous. I feel like I have made a friendship that will last a lifetime. They did everything possible to accommodate me and showered affection on my old dog too. Their pomace is out of the way (be prepared for no cell service) but they shared WiFi and OMG the stars at night! So close you could touch them! I can’t recommend this stay more highly.
