Simon & I are camper/road trippers with 40 years of experience. We enjoy roadtripping with our 3 small terriers in a 24ft BORN FREE RV. Our WHIDBEY ISLAND, WA, property enjoys a rustic, wooded, park-like and peaceful setting, a few minutes drive from the Mukilteo/Clinton Ferry (Hwy 525) and island beaches and seaside villages.
As BDW hosts WE WELCOME DIVERSITY. POC, BLM, LGBTQ, INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS and their friendly pets are warmly welcomed. If you are Racist or Radical Right you will not be a good fit.
Simon was Made in England. I'm originally from NY. We have enjoyed travels in Scandanavia, Europe, Mexico and South America. In a previous home we hosted AIRBNB guests for 6 years and enjoy meeting people and introducing newcomers to Whidbey Island.
Simon is a retired A/V engineer, and a skilled Mr Fixit. Sharen is a retired Advertising and PR executive. They are engaged in Progressive activities, both culturally and politically.
We enjoy three well-behaved terriers (on oxymoron, I know), each under 25 lbs. While outdoors they are confined to a fenced in area, or they are on leashes and supervised, NEVER loose. Guest pets should be friendly, well behaved and leashed outdoors at all times.
We haven't done much boondocking, per se, but we LOVE camping in WA, OR, and CA, on the seashore, at lakes and in mountains. We love exploring villages. And we're avid thrift shoppers.
Our home is in Clinton, WA, gateway to WHIDBEY ISLAND, located about 45 minutes north of Seattle. Whidbey Island enjoys three beautiful State Park Campgrounds - Ft Casey, Ft Ebey, and Deception Pass - but in warm months you have to be very lucky to secure reservations. Further north of Whidbey Island are the picturesque San Juan Islands, and further still is Brittish Columbia in Canada.
2004 BORN FREE fiberglass motorhome, 24ft length. Fully self contained. Excellent condition and clean. Experienced, mature, responsible and easy going longtime RVers with 3 small, well behaved terriers, always leashed. We are also BDW hosts, living on Whidbey Island, WA. We enjoy very good guest reviews and truly love our Boondockers Welcome experiences.
This place truly is a hidden gem. Nice level ground in a secluded area surrounded by beautiful old growth trees and some cool art deco stuff to further set the mood.
The hosts are brilliantly pleasant, responsive, and overall just a joy.
Thank you for the experience!
The hosts are so helpful with advice about places to go and do. It is such a lush setting among magnificent trees and lots of artistic whimsical touches. First time I've photographed an outhouse.
We had such a wonderful time at the Whidbey Island Get-Away. Our hosts were friendly, prepared and helpful. The site where we parked was level, graveled and came with electricity! The location was deep in the Whidbey Island woods but close to beaches and lovely towns. We hope to visit again. Thanks so much.
Perfect comfortable spot! Generous, welcoming hosts. Grateful for the experience.
This is a true hidden gem. Wonderful location in the forest. We felt so welcome by the hosts in the Island as a whole. My fiancé and I enjoyed our time and hope to come back one day. Thank you for such kind hospitality ☺️
We had the most delightful visit here. Our hosts did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. They are seasoned travelers and we enjoyed their company in the evening sharing stories & wine. We learned a lot about the island, it's history and the favorite local places for food & fun. Thanks S & S. We hope to visit sometime in the future.
These sweet hosts spend a lot of time creating a fantastic camping experience. From the campfire ring to homemade s’mores they are just the best host we’ve ever found! Love them so much. We’ll arrange our travels to visit them every year. Oh and Whidbey is wonderful too!
My stay started off with multiple people helping me back my trailer into the forest. It was nifty being amongst the huge trees and my two nights were fantastic. I greatly enjoyed our time around the firepit. You couldn't have been accommodating.
Heathgal and her husband are lovely hosts. We enjoyed wine tasting and sightseeing on the island. Then we came “home” to great conversation and the sharing of a happy hour and meal with our hosts and the other Boondocker guests.
Very quiet at night except for an occasional owl.
We will definitely visit here again as we feel we have made new friends. Thanks!
Our stay beneath the huge cedars was only improved by our consummate hosts. They were even able to provide electric (fill your water tank prior to arrival). Whidbey Island is a delightful place to kick back and relax. Thanks so much to Sharen and Simon.
When I drove up to this little piece of paradise I was greeted by Heathgal. She was so welcoming and we sat under the trees and visited for a while, she shared some of her favorite places to eat and see and suggestions for a beautiful bike ride! It was so peaceful and I met a couple of wonderful guests that were staying at her adorable Air bnb and we spent hours together visiting!
What a find!!
Thank you so very much
I look forward to coming back again!
We were a bit slow to start here as we arrived and no one else was there since the hosts were of on their own excursion. Not to worry though, we got situated and settled in. A Very peaceful stay, surrounded by 100 foot Cedar and Fir trees, so many birds singing, I could go on and on! A excellent place to stay! We hope to be back!
Loved this little camp spot. Beautiful location and thoughtfully planned out with a fire pit, outhouse, and lots of cute art.
I almost don't want to share Sharen and Simon with anyone else.
We loved staying with them. They greater us with a warm fire our first night and then dinner of Bangers and Mash.
Loved chatting about everything and feeling like family.
You can't help but not love them and Whidbey Island.
Thank you Sharen and Simon. We will be back!
We spent three nights at this Whidbey island getaway and had a lovely time. The campsite is very natural and woodsy with a large fire pit and lots of chairs and tables. Our hostess gave us a warm welcome and had excellent suggestions for local activities. She is also well informed about the history of the island. We enjoyed visiting around the campfire. It's a heavily shaded spot so be sure to bring a sweatshirt. This is a charming stop for Boondockers.
We had a nice time staying 2 nights at Heathgal's " mini park". The hosts were very hospitable providing good advice and recommendations. Great location, we highly recommend this stay!
Getaway is right. This is by far one of the best sites we have visited. Speedy response time and clear, easy directions. Place of solace and tranquility. Already planning a trip back!
The most lovely and interesting folks I've met! Have set up fabulous amenities including a tent covered area and fire pit.
Beautiful property with tremendous trees and lovely neighbors.
10/10 would recommend.
Can't wait to see them again - thanks Heathgal!
Their place was not your standard location; complete with rv spot, fire pit, wooded area for small hikes, a farm next door and great hospitality!!
When we goto Whidbey Island we will be sure to visit!!
Although rain prevented sitting around the propane fire pit, I could imagine how nice it would be on a warmer (and dryer) evening. Air was fresh and even the rain was welcome for this "Oregon smoke and fire 'refugee' - Verizon and T-Mobile service available, but not strong enough for streaming. E-mail, text all good. Would have enjoyed some safely-spaced conversation around the campfire - but we will try another time.
Boondockers Welcome is a wonderful gift for us RVers and once in a while you encounter extra special hosts. These Whidbey Island hosts are just that.
The sweet camping space they’ve created is so special and comfortable. It’s quiet and shady - if you’re lucky you’ll hear the Great Horned Owl as we did.
They themselves are so kind and generous-we hate to leave!
Whidbey Island is full of lovely places, sights and activities.
We’ll be back next summer!!
We stayed in their yard which was more beautiful than many campgrounds! They are working to make their property even easier for RV campers, including pads and a fire ring. Sharon and Simon are interesting, friendly and helpful. We can’t say enough about our experience with them.
They went above and beyond to accommodate and make me feel welcome. This was my first experience with Boondockers Welcome and I don’t see how it could get any better. Their place is beautiful easy to get to and although in a neighborhood if feels secluded, rustic and peaceful. I’d see myself staying in touch with these people for years to come.
What an awesome place to stay and explore Whidbey Island. Sharon and Simon are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed visiting and sharing our experiences around a campfire (keeping 6ft. apart). We definitely be back to visit and explore more of beautiful Whidney Island.
