I'm retired and recently bought a small 3.5 acre spot in a small town in the Texas Panhandle.
I enjoy motorcycles, ham radio, and meeting new people.
I am a generally 'handy' guy, able to work with tools and get things done.
I am currently doing some minor re-modeling work on the place I bought, so I'm likely to have spots of paint on my clothes...along with power tools and 2x4s laying around...so please pardon the mess!
I have a small 20 pound spaniel mix, adopted from a local shelter. She is my wonderful companion.
I also recently acquired a small kitten....this is gonna be interesting!
I love the desert around Quartzsite in the winter...lots of things to do and see, plus friendly people everywhere.
Living in Tulia Texas...a very small, friendly town about half way between Amarillo and Lubbock on I-27
This place has it all (or "had" it all at some time during its existence.) Great visit with the host who gave us the history of his place. The night we were there we had a terrific rain storm and were buffeted by fierce winds. This place was just what we needed for our trip and we had a nice time with our host.
Be sure to follow his access directions carefully. It's a bit tricky, especially if you have a bigger rig.
Great stay at Winford Station! We appreciated the hosts hospitality and would definitely recommend. Super host and made us feel so welcome. We hope to be in the area again!
Our host was very helpful, kind, accommodating and informative. Great stay! Looking forward to a return visit. Highly recommend! Loved little Cami. Thanks again!
This was our second stay at Winford. We definitely enjoyed visiting and catching up on changes since our last stay. This location is perfect for a day trip to either Cap Rock Canyon or Palo Duro Canyon. We hope to stay here again when we are in the area.
We loved our stay at Winford Station! Our host could not have been more friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We enjoyed visiting with him and getting the tour and history of his super cool and unique property. And his dog was sure to greet us every time we saw each other too, she is the cutest. Wish we could have stayed longer and hope we'll make it through his neck of the woods again. Thanks so much for hosting us!
My host was very gracious. He is a ham radio operator and gave me a lesson in it. The weather was cold and windy so we didn't get to visit much. Convenient locatioj!
We had a wonderful stay at this host's location and recommend him to everyone. He is charming and enjoyable to talk with; we enjoyed hearing about the history of his unique home. He made sure we found his place easily, giving us specific directions and even setting out orange cones for us to see his driveway. There are outdoor places to sit and eat. There's cattle, llama, and brahma in the pasture next door. We love this host's dog and wanted to take her home with us. Our host was helpful with the local sights, which included telling us (before we got to his place) to secure a reservation for the Palo Duro Canyon State Park. We would not have known to do so in advance and would have been turned away at the gate if it weren't for his thoughtfulness. We loved the canyons and had a great time hiking. Caprock Canyon is nearby also. This was a great, safe stay.
We had a great stay with Winford. He is exceptionally friendly, helpful & generous. We would highly recommend a stay here. If you do, pay close attention to the directions he gives you. They are superb and might save you having to backtrack.
My host and his pup were so welcoming! We had a great visit. And I had such a peaceful night. Definitely a great spot to stop after a long drive across Texas. I wish there had been a spot on the road to stop and take a pic of my hosts as they waved farewell. Such a perfect example of Texas hospitality.
We had a great visit with the host. He's very accomadating. We felt very welcomed. I hope Cami isn't still waiting for us. Would stay here again if in the area.
I wish they had a happier happy face for my opinion of this stay!!
I slept under the shadow of a 250ft radio tower on several acres of land over looking what this part of the USA is famous for...home home on the range where the deer and the antelope play. A most congenial, friendly and generous host. I think a lifelong friendship was made and for sure I'll visit him again. The stories, the laughs and the historical background to the area really made this stay special. He made a great effort to make sure I found him with bight orange pylons and then even led me out this morning to make sure I got on the right road. An over the top host who I would highly recommend to any one. Thanks Winford! Benji said thanks too!
If you are looking for a quaint place and enjoy visiting with owner then this is the place for you.Nothing fancy but is honest and Winford is well versed and can talk as wide a range of subjects as I have encountered. Very relaxing evening visiting on front porch star gazing sharing a cool beer. We will stop again.
We enjoyed meeting and getting to know the host. He's got a sweet setup. It's level, has hookups and very peaceful. We look forward to staying again.
