We are Christal and Burt.
Husband was a Spanish teacher and I was a Community College Librarian.
I was an Army brat who grew up in the suburbs of Virginia and eventually moved to Florida (where it's mostly warm all year). Burt was born in Colombia and lived/worked on sailboats for years before becoming a teacher.
While working we used our vacation time to travel in our sailboat (since sold). In 2012 we decided to get our RV. We both love to travel and visit new places.
Husband is quite the fixer/tinkerer and does all the cooking (making him the perfect mate to me).
I love reading, gardening and playing Scrabble while Burt enjoys Chess.
Burt is an excellent cook...he's never found a fridge he couldn't use to make a great meal. He's also good general Mr. Fix it (although he doesn't much like messing with electrical issues).
I'm OK with computers.
No, used to have a cat.
In 2013 our fist long RV adventure was an 8000 mile winding trip out to the Grand Canyon/various National Parks in Utah. We've traveled from Florida up to the Blue Ridge mountains in Virginia and are happily investigating Florida State Parks. Our favorite Florida city is St Augustine (both by boat and RV). We want to travel all over the US and into Canada in our RV.
Satellite Beach, Florida which is about 50 miles from Orlando. We are less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean.
Class B, 2005 22' diesel Leisure Travel Van.
RoadVenture were real friendly guests & very pleasant. We would recommend them to any host location.
We enjoyed the stories about their sailboat's adventures. They stayed for two days with us. Burt cooked wonderful meals, simple and tasty. We hope to meet them again.
Burt and Crystal stayed with us one evening. Had a fun time talking with them, and since they did a long western trip last year and we are planing one next year we had a lot of questions for them. Hope to visit with them in Florida.
Burt and Christal stayed with us twice. They stayed with use on there way to Northern Manitoba and on there way back. It was nice to host them. I hope we can visit them in Florida some time.
We enjoyed having them come and stay with us. They traveled in a 22 ft. motorhome, that we provided electric for. We had a delightful conversation while walking through the garden looking for some ripe veggies to share with them. Burt was over joyed to get chemical-free produce. Daytime weather was hot with a 20 mph west wind, but after 7PM. the wind slowed to 1-2 mph and the temp dropped to 63 making it wonderful sleeping weather. They are clean and neat and a pleasure to host. They are welcome back anytime!
Burt and Christal were wonderful. They shared their interests and their home. They were such interesting folks with many talents. We felt like we had known them for years instead of just a day.
Very friendly people. We had a wonderful time exploring Satellite Beach...
Plain and simple, we've gained 2 great new friends. Thanks to BoondockersWelcome.com we've made a couple of awesome new friends in RoadVenture. We even went on a cruise together recently! Thinking of boondocking with RoadVenture in Satellite Beach FL? Stop thinking and send them a note. You won't regret it! Heck, you many even make some new friends. ;-) Their location is great for watching rocket's launch - they are a 1 mile drive or a 6 minute bike ride or a 15 minute walk to the public beach or shopping. Their street is quiet with very little traffic and your hosts will be too kind!
We had a very pleasant first time experience boondocking with this very friendly couple. Being newbies, we were very unsure what to expect, especially travelling with kids. Once we arrived, in a rainstorm, they greeted us and welcomed us. We were offered to plug in and connect water but we were ok without. They welcomed us into their home and we had a very pleasant conversation about camping and travels. We will definitely be reconnecting with them on future travels to Florida.
This is a very nice couple. Helpful and generous. We can recommend them very much. We got quick responses after having contacted them. Got a nice spot by their home, electricity and water, good advice etc. And above all, at nite a nice game of Scrabble! Won't forget that. Arie and Ingrid
We had a wonderful time with roadventure, Many great conversations and they have a ton of knowledge about the area and the travel world in general. I learned a great deal from them and I hope they enjoyed having us as much as we enjoyed staying with them!!! Thank you for a great time RoadVenture!!
A lovely welcome, we were lucky to have him cook us dinner and had a great night of conversation. We felt like family. A very memorable evening, hope we meet again. Nice flat site on the road, very quiet, close to the space centre and lovely beaches.
This was our first time using Boondocking Welcome and we were made so welcome by our hosts. We would definitely recommend them. They showed us wonderful hospitality, and we had a great time together. The neighbourhood is very safe and quiet, and we enjoyed our stay.
Christal and Burt are the real deal! Very friendly and a pleasure to talk to. We had the honor of staying two nights. The street they are on is a quiet road that is only a mile away from the public beach(which is beautiful). There are a lot of fun things to do within a close proximity. We were provided with electricity and a safe place to park. They showed us around thier home and I even got to play a game of chess with Burt, who is a very intelligent and inventive guy. Can't wait to come and stay again next year!
Over first Boondockers Welcome experience was wonderful because of our very gracious hosts. Immediately they made us feel very comfortable camping in front of their lovely home. They allowed us to tour the home which is unusual and beautiful and they made sure that we were comfortable and happy as their guests. They even convinced us that we also could be boondockers welcome hosts. Although we were simply passing through, there is much to do in the area including the Atlantic Ocean which is less than a mile away. Highly recommend!
We spent two nights with RoadVenture in February, such hospitality! They welcomed us warmly and were wonderful, gracious hosts. Their lovely home is in a well-maintained area with lots of lighting (good for walking the dog at 2 am.) They are welcome to stay with us anytime, with or without their RV!
Great little spot on the water. Fun friendly hosts with a beautiful home and lots of sailing experience to share. Just perfect.
Such a nice, friendly couple! They are so generous and have a lot of travelling experiences to share. It was a great experience for us. They are in a quiet neighbourhood with canals full of manatees, dolphins and fishes. We had a great time in this area : great beaches, easy access with good size parking lot.
Burt and Crystal were very welcoming and happy to have us. We stayed two nights and had a great time! Burt ended up sewing together my ripped front windshield cover; man of much talent. Such friendly, genuine people. Happy to call them friends.
The RoadVentures are more than generous with their home & their time. Such kind, warm, disarming people. They are situated on a canal system and they are about a mile and a bit from the nearest public beach on the Atlantic. (Nice beach too!) Various shopping and dining options are a slightly shorter walk than that. The nearest gas station is three quarters of a block away. I am honored to call them friends.
This great couple greeted us when we first pulled up and invited us in for drinks and dinner. Burt loves to feed people and is an excellent cook. Fortunately we had a bottle of wine on hand (surprise surprise) to contribute to the evening, which was wonderful. We stayed two nights and highly recommend spending an evening with these great people.
