Active, quasi-“health-nut”, single, female retiree. Earlier this year, I purchased a small, but more-than-adequate-for-one, travel trailer. I plan to travel the entire State to see/discover places I have never visited. My 4-legged companion, Bebe, will be my co-pilot.
I’ve always enjoyed being a DIY homeowner and possess a plethora of tools. At present, deciding on which ones to keep and what to dispose of has become more of a challenge than that of furniture, clothing, etc. Also, I have been a pet groomer for over 30+ years.
Yes....my constant companion, Bebe; a 7lbs Toy Poodle. She, along with hundreds of other animals, was confiscated during an FBI raid last year. Sadly, she was almost totally feral (having been strictly a commodity for a puppy mill breeder) when I adopted her. It took almost an entire year but, thankfully, she finally accepted me as her mommy and is now a “cuddle bug”!
No favorites yet; but due to my 14-day-in then 7-day-out dilemma with my Thousand Trails/Collection membership, I chose to become a member of RVillage, Boondockers Welcome, and Harvest Hosts. I believe I can now safely say:
“I have all of my bases covered!”
Homestead, Florida .....the ONLY USA city located between TWO national parks..... Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park........and just a short stop before you’re in “The Keys”. My parents relocated here, along with my two older sisters and myself, in 1949; so, I consider myself an “almost” native!

Host was awesome and VERY accommodating! Ran a cord for power to her front outlet and then refused money for the power! Will stay with her again when we make it back down to Florida.
The host was so gracious and welcoming. She gave excellent directions to her home and details about the area. We sat around the campfire for some great conversation. We would love to return if back 8n this area.
Super nice and practical lady.
Easy access and great place to stop on the way to or from Key West
Great communication and help with directions to bypass Miami on a Saturday night. Parking was easy, level, and off the street. Host had many great suggestions for the next day. We only had time for one, which was to stop at the nearby “Robert is here” fruit stand—a must stop! Amazing! Thanks for the help!
We received detailed instructions that got us to the parking spot that is a level gravel driveway. The host was very welcoming and have us lots of recommendations including a winery/brewery (Schnebly) that we visited on our first night and was very good. The area was quiet over night and we headed down to the Everglades the next day, entrance to the park only 20 mins away. Water hook up a bonus too! Thanks for an awesome BDW stay 😁
So helpful with directions and allowed to stay extra nights to explore southern Florida. Highly recommend this accessible site and host!
