NOTE: As of May 17 there is construction on our street, so we can not host. This should be done by the end of June (or earlier). In the meantime check the details of our post for other local Boondocking options
Dad is a Photography and Graphic Arts teacher of German extraction. Mom is a homemaker, volunteer and organizer of Japanese background, who keeps our two active boys out of trouble. Our families live abroad, and we love to travel to visit them, welcome them here, or hit the road.
We love to cook, can share photo and technology tips, Dad fools around with computers a lot. Pretty handy with tools, happy to help guest where I can.
No pets, but like them!
Quiet places in Nature, where we can explore. We loved all the Boondocking in National Forests throughout the western states, and met many friendly boondockers all over the continent!
Saitama JP, Nuernberg D, and Richmond, BC
Sold our Rig, but are still welcoming guests!
Takara and Family stayed for 2 nights and they were very enjoyable. We had burgers on the day they arrived and had a very good time sharing experiences.
I would not have any hesitation in recommending them on their travels.
"Takara" and his two sons visited Niagara Falls for a couple of days. They were very pleasant and we had some nice conversations. I was able to spend some time with them and show them "the falls" at night with the lights and fireworks display.
I wouldn't hesitate to have them back again and hopefully be able to spend more time exploring the Niagara area. There is so much more than just "the falls".
I highly recommend TAKARA and his family as BDW guests.
These folks arrived so quietly and left so early and quietly the next morning I totally forgot they were here. Love to have visitors like this and so do my neighbors!!!
Takara was able to accommodate us on short notice and had a great parking spot close to the water and within walking distance to a plaza for groceries, etc.
Due to covid we weren’t able to hang out, but they have a lovely property in a quiet neighbourhood.
Really appreciated the stay and if they didn’t just sell their house we’d be back for sure! Good luck with the move :)
We were welcomed with a booklet full of information that was much appreciated! They let us change our nights on short notice (thanks again) and we were able to have power. We had a nice chat when we arrived, they’re really kind people. Thanks again:)
Takara couldn’t have been more helpful, He allowed me to change my night on short notice, gave us great ideas on things to do in the area. Even helped me wash my camper. Can’t say enough good about this stay. I would highly recommend it.
I had a very pleasant stay at Takara's place. I felt welcome there and the area is really nice and quiet. They gave me a lot of useful information about Vancouver and Richmond. Thank you again !
We stayed one night at Takara's place. The hosts were not available, they informed us about it, but their very kind and helpfull son welcomed us. We could use electricity and water.
The place is rather small and was right next to a road. Therefor it was a bit noisy.
Thank you for letting us stay a night, so we wouldn't have to travel a long distance to the airport the next day.
We felt welcomed the moment we arrived. It was our first time in Vancouver and we could not have wished for a better host for this. Thank you very much for everything. :-)
This host was super helpful in so many ways to my grandson and I while visiting for 2 days. He prepared a welcome packet that was full of local attractions. Super friendly and helpful too. Great location near the Stevenston beach Village.
We stayed on our hosts roadside front lawn in a 26 foot C Class, it was quiet and secure. The host provided us with pamphlets, wifi and directions. A very nice, friendly and accommodating chap. Would recommend staying here.
We really enjoyed our stay. The host even took some time in the evening to chat with us! They gave us a booklet full of brochures and information about the area and had a lot of helpful tips for further travelling along the US coast. It is super easy to reach the city by public transport (if you have the chance, buy a day ticket somewhere as you cannot do this on the bus, only trains and other locations).
Thanks again to the hosts for their hospitality!
it is now 3 march 2019, looking at Boondockers site I saw there was no review for Takara. How was that possible.
In october last year we stayed for 1 night at Takara, he took us to the Japanese community for a meditation.
It was a great experience for us.
what a lovely man, we hope to met him and also his wife and sons, once again to spent some more time with him than just 1 evening.
once when you go t Nurnberg visist also Zieuwent, Distance in Europe are peanuts.
Thanks for your hospitality,
Dieuwertje and Ton
This was my first Boondockers stay, and it could not have been any better! Takara and family were kind, welcoming, and gracious. I think it's wonderful that though they sold their rig, they are still welcoming guests! Thank you for being part of this community guys!!
Very nice people with great tips for things to do. We only stayed a night so didn't get further then the Greek to eat, but it was delicious!
We stayed one night and felt very safe. Host was helpful with suggestions for local sights.
We were gladly surprised bij the warm welcome of Rainer en Takaka. We got electricity and the code to use their WiFi. The map Rainer handed to us was full of tips and usefull information and the route to walk on the dyke towards the harbour. Thanks again for being our host!
Kind regards, Henk & Carolien
Very welcoming & helpful on suggesting things to do / see in the area.
Calm neighborhood & walking distance to great stuff !
Whiskey loved them !
We had a great time :-)
Takara are wonderful hosts who did everything they could to make sure our visit to Vancouver was enjoyable. Highly recommended! We’d definitely come back.
We spent two nights at Takara's home with our motorhome.
We were well welcomed from the beginning to the end...
Good advise given for visiting Vancouver and around (We took the public transport to visit Vancouver easily).
We enjoyed to share and discuss with our hote, an interesting and warm person.
Thank one more time for this moment
I was greeted when I arrived and got help placing my trailer. A folder was given to me to help me know about the local area.
Rainer and Takako were very gracious hosts. They made us feel at home, offered us water and electricity, and a folder of information, including the WiFi password. The little town Steveson is very close and charming. There is a dyke to walk on and stores and restaurants and a historical cannery. It is conveniently located nearby Vancouver.
Thanks so much for welcoming us so warmly! It is much appreciated!
Reiner and Takako are very nice hosts. They provided us a folder with lots of informations and tips for visiting Vancouver and the surrounding area.
We were able to use wifi and electricity. Our children were very happy. They enjoyed the basketball court and play with the youngest boy.
Thank you very much for everything and do not hesitate to come and visit us if you come to France!
Unfortunately, I was sick when we arrived and jumped right in to bed, but my husband met these friendly hosts and had a nice chat with them both. This location is convenient to the ferry and very close to the quaint town of stevetson which is fun to spend a few hours in. Good location. Thank you so much.
What a great place to stay! Rainer and co were awesome! For our first boondocking experience this was absolutely awesome. The hospitality was amazing, Rainer provided us with our hook up and a folder with local places to visit.
We felt very welcomed! Thanks for the wonderful hospitality Rainer and co!
It was our first ever stay from this website and it was fantastic, Rainer and Takara were great hosts , laid on water , WiFi and power for us , very friendly , and had loads of great tips for the local area and things to do in Vancouver area . Highly recommended
We were very appreciative of the warm welcome offered to us by this family.
The kids loved the yard, and we loved chatting with Rainer especially.
He had lots of advice which was massively helpful and is an all around great guy.
His wife and children are also friendly too.
Thanks again and look us up when you visit England! :-)
We stayed 2 nights in Takara's home. Very quiet and nice area. He make us feel very confortable and gave us a lots of tips to visit Vancouver and the area. We also enjoyed a lot talking with him, we even wish we could have some more time to talk with him! Very nice family!! We had a restful time here.
We had a very nice stay in Takara's house. It's very easy to visit Vancouver from their home.
Rainer was very helpful, from visiting Vancouver to choosing a new lens !
Kids were very happy to play outside.
We would be pleased to welcome them at home in Europe even if they don't have a motorhome !
We stayed here one night. Nice quiet location. Hosts were very kind and knowledgeable about the area. Would stay again.
We were Takara's guests and we really enjoyed knowing them and their 2 beautiful sons. We shared very pleasant times. They made us very comfortable.
We hope to see them again. Maybe in France ?
Thank you very much!
Our host was very available to us. We had great conversations about Vancouvers's culture and history. The spot is in the suburbs, but we were able to slide out our 35ft RV. Also, a nice short ride into the city by RV. I took a bike ride in the area and was happy to find biking/hiking trails right on the coast including whale watching ships. Great hosts and great town full of history.
This was our first boondockers welcome stay and what a great way to start. Very friendly welcome from the family. Really appreciated the loan of a few tools to help with our set up (we traveled from NZ, so nothing in the shed). Great walk along the Dyke to Fishermans market where they sell the fish off the back of the boat. Handy location if you are stopping over before sailing to Vancouver Island, only 30 mins to the ferry terminal.
Even though we came on short notice, this family arranged everything (even parked away all their cars) and made our stay as comfortable, as they could! We stayed only two nights, but we should have stayed longer, because we discovered that lovely sea dike only in the last minute... We used public transport into downtown Vancouver and it was no problem. The whole family welcomed us very warmly, they even invited us in and shared their delicious cheesecake with us, while we could have chatted the whole night! ;) Thanks for this great boondocking experience!
It was our first time to park overnight (actually two nights and one whole day) on someone else's property and we loved it. Rainer was already waiting for us and was a great help getting us to Downtown Vancouver through public transport. Thank you so much for the great cake (we loved it) and everything else!!
