We appreciated staying here. Easy in and out. Quiet neighborhood. The host was friendly and informative.
We had a perfect stay while visiting Joshua Tree National Park - thank you for making it available!
Exactly as described. I was the only one there for two days and I did not meet the hosts. Other than receiving a welcome text I was left my own devices. Convenient to Joshua tree national Park North east entrance, Good Verizon reception and I felt safe.
The host was very quick to respond and helpful. The spot is exactly as described.
Convenient Basecamp to explore Joshua Tree! Easy drive to the Oasis visitor center entrance.
Awesome, flat and convenient spot near JTNP! Since campgrounds are closed in the park, this was a great spot to stay!
We stayed here for 2 nights in our Scamp 13' small travel trailer and had a fantastic time visiting this location near one of the entrances to Joshua Tree National Park (about 8 minutes drive). It's very quiet and tucked enough back behind the main highway (not too busy at night) that it is very private. The site is paved, flat, and very large and can accommodate many RVs. There was only one other trailer when we visited on the first night and we were alone the second night. The site itself is interesting because it backs right up to the desert and there are some walking paths that lead to old settler's homesteads (little abandoned shacks). We met the host after spending a day hiking in Joshua Tree National Park. He is very friendly and we enjoyed our time talking. The stars are very brilliant here and we were fortunate enough to have visited at the peak of the Gemenid meteor shower! It can get windy, so make sure to bring some warm clothing. Highly recommended location!
Great private space with only lights in the distance so you can see the entire milky way!
Super nice people. Love this spot.
We are all about the internet speeds for our Verizon jetpack and this was the best spot so far! Host stopped by on day 2 to say hello and check on us. Thank you! This is true boondocking with no services, so come prepared. Lots of sun for solar and beautiful sunsets over the mountains. It is a good place to stop if you want to see Joshua Tree National Park, as the park has closed their campgrounds due to Covid (December 2020).
It was cold and windy and dark already when we arrived but we communicated via text and was warmly welcomed. The lot was quiet with stars and good cell signal for both t mobile and AT&T. Thanks for letting us stay!
This was an amazing stay! The hosts were super friendly and the site was great. We got lucky and we're the only ones here so our girls got to ride their bikes around. If you're going to visit Joshua Tree National Park I highly recommend staying here. Do yourself a favor and spend a good ten to twenty minutes adjusting to the night sky to see the beautiful night sky! I will definitely be come back here in the future!
We stopped for a stay overnight and communicating with the host was easy. We had no trouble and enjoyed the quiet spot. The stars are incredible at night - we had a nice clear sky.
We would definitely stay again.
Thank you so much for this awesome spot to park for a couple of days on my journey. A real plus is how close this is to Joshua Tree Nat. Park - so I was able to get in some great hikes while I waited for the winds to calm down. Highly recommended - with gratitude to the hosts.
We are so grateful that WonderWhy accommodated our late-notice request to stay overnight after we spent the afternoon/evening at Joshua Tree! Love the location and the easy in and out! Also, great cell service for the kids to do school and hubby to do work in the morning.
Perfect location for our adventures! The place is everything they describe. Beautiful night sky, quiet, convenient. We would definitely stay here again when in this area.
Host was very nice. Drove up to our spot about an hour after we arrived to say hi. He was wearing a mask for covid protection, which nice was we do too. Nice and quiet spot. We hoped to see lots of stars but it was a bit overcast and the sky was not in full "bloom" that night. It was August, so be prepared to run your A/C all night this time of year. Hope to get back again in a cooler month to enjoy the stars.
For thinking about creating this level surface for the mobile community! We appreciated the opportunity to stay very much on our way to San Diego to visit our daughter and family.
This is Boondocking at it's finest, i.e. the Ritz! Easy to find, convenient to the highway but quiet, level asphalt so no dirt & cactus.
Thank you, nice people, for making this available for weary travelers!
Our host was so nice! He made us feel like we belonged there and welcome us back anytime! His wife was under the weather, no not the “virus”, so didn’t get to meet her, but we will on our next visit. I would have liked to have stayed longer!
What a great alternative to fighting the crowds to get a place in Joshua tree national Park.
The spot was just a few minutes outside the entrance. Quiet, dark night with amazing stars. Our host was very generous, we had a short conversation as we were heading out. We would stay again
Level asphalt better than Walmart’s nice hosts and no trucks running all night.
Quiet, large area to park. Stargazing opportunity with wide open skies. Friendly hosts!
Great, open space to enjoy stargazing, peace and quiet. JTNP entrance within easy travel. Loved watching the wild bunnies romp when we woke up in the morning!
Safe and peaceful. Gajillion stars to sit under in the evening while barbecuing and very close to Joshua Tree National Park. We booked one night then booked a 2nd night. There was still more to see and hike at the park so we booked a 3rd night! Very nice and accommodating hosts!
We haven’t met the host yet but look forward to it. We are going to request another night so we can visit Joshua Tree Park. Nice level paved area near the park.
This was a great, level, quiet place to stay! Very close to the Oasis entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. We informed our host that we had arrived and he met us within a few minutes. We had a nice chat and appreciated his requested recommendations- had a delicious dinner at Arteaga’s Mexican place in 29 Palms. After spending the day in the park, we exited at Joshua Tree, then returned to Wonder Why for a second night. The cell reception was great! Thank you to the host.
Neat place to stay, the moon was beautiful coming up over the mountains. Very nice couple, welcomed us with cookies.
This was my first BW experience and it went way better than I hoped. I stayed over Christmas and my hosts were so kind and welcoming! Even greeting me with a present and bringing me a huge plate of amazing homemade food. Location is quiet, feels safe, and is huge! If you are heading to Joshua Tree National Park I definitely recommend a night or two under the desert stars here.
As I had the honor of being Dan and Fay’s first Boondocking guest, I now have the privilege of submitting the first review. They have a great setup for Boondocker’s. Great access right off the highway with a big level asphalt lot. It comes with a 360 degree view that provided me with a beautiful unobstructed sunset and sunrise. The GPS coordinates gave me a location 1/4 mile past his place, so Dan drove out after me and led me back. Had a nice conversation with him that afternoon, and the following morning with both Dan and Fay. I’ll definitely drop by the next time I’m in the area.
