In March 2015 we purchased a 'bach' (beach house) in Mahau Sound, Marlborough. Brian is busy cutting down pine trees, clearing scrub and putting in a vegetable garden. He has enlarged the deck and new tracks are in.Our yacht is bobbing on her mooring within view.
While Brian is busy outside I am adjusting to living on land after 13 years on the water.
I am a pretty good cook and if the opportunity arose I would love to share/cook a meal with you. I think New Zealanders (or KIWIs as we are known) probably eat pretty much the same food as you do...but there is bound to be something different and special I can share with you.
Brian is pretty much self contained and enjoys keeping busy...garden/boat
We don't have any pets. However we have a doggy granddaughter who comes and stays occasionally when her family is away.
This year (2017) we travelled to England. We hired a car and toured around using bed and breakfast accommodation. Until we got to Dorset.before we left New Zealand we had contacted the Boondockers at Sherborne, Dorset. We explained we were also Boondockers, but that we were travelling by car and asked for a bed the night. They were very happy to do this and so we have now had our first amazing Boondockers experience, albeit a slightly unusual one.
you will find us at the top of the South Island in Mahau Sound. It is about an hour/hour and a half from Picton (Inter-islander and / Bluebridge Ferry). There are no shops nearby, most of the other houses down our road are holiday homes.
Our rig is a 53ft steel yacht. We have sailed from New Zealand, east to French Polynesia, west to Singapore and north to China. Now all our travels will be by airplane and rental car. So we will be hoping for a bed rather than a parking place.
An outstanding location, met with very warm welcome, very helpful. They recommended the Pelorus Mailboat Tour next day, which picked us up at their beach, and Brian came out in the dinghy to bring us ashore at Tour's end. Superhosts !
