2012 Freightliner Sprinter Extended
This stop worked out great. It is in one corner of a large commercial parking lot. Definitely not wilderness camping but close to Interstate 84 with a mall about a mile away. Paved, level, easy electric connection. No workers in the space from 4pm to 6 am. Quiet except for nearby trains every hour or so.
Talked to the host briefly and found him to be very friendly and helpful. Had a good night's rest before continuing on our way early the next morning.Thank You Jaytmoody
Great place to get some housekeeping items done and take it easy for a couple nights. Close to trains to NYC. Generous hosts provide electricity which let us not worry about our food in the fridge while we spent the night in New York. There’s plenty of room to get in and out and even a grass area that’s useful if you’ve got a dog. Host is extremely friendly and helpful with loads of information. Very accommodating as well. Ideal Boondocker community member!
We felt very safe and comfortable during our stay. Our host came by for a bit to make sure we had everything we needed, and we enjoyed getting to meet him. Great location, and we enjoyed using it as a homebase to explore the area.
His location was great for our trip and he was very helpful and inviting. We recommend this place for a quick stopover if in western Connecticut.
Thank you Jay for hosting us overnight to get some "housecleaning" done. We reached out to Jay and within 15 min he responded and told us we could stay overnight. We didn't get a chance to meet personally, but Jay was very accommodating at such short notice. Danbury was a great stop for us to wash clothes, shop for supplies, and get set up for NYC. We parked on the side of property. Nice and flat and quiet after business hours. Thanks again. :)
If you’re coming to NYC this spot in Danbury was a great stopover since it’s only a few hour drive to get into the city. While an unconventional spot, it was well lit, secure, and quieted down after 5pm.
What a great spot! Worked out perfectly as a halfway point from Maine to Pennsylvania. Super easy to get into, very private, secure, and much quieter than we thought it would have been. We also loved the sound of the train going by!
Although we didn’t get to meet the host, he was super helpful over the phone to make sure we made it there with clear directions.
Be sure not to miss the mail box on the fence to leave money for the electric! There’s also a same day full service laundromat across the street.
Definitely a boondocker hidden gem! Thanks!!
Jaytmoody's site is nestled in the back of a commercial complex. Although it is near the railroad tracks, it is a quite location with electric which was very appreciated on a hot August night! The site is level and secure and convenient to the interstate. Jay even stopped by to see that we had everything we needed for our stay. We highly recommend jaytmoody's host site to anyone traveling through the Danbury, CT area!
The space can accommodate a large rig even though mine is a pop up camper. The space is level with electric provided. Train tracks run next to the site and you will hear the train but it is quiet at night. The space is well lit. Brewery and a Deli is short walking distance and they have breakfast options. Overall good experience. Thanks Jay for providing your place!
Quick response from host. Level , paved, quiet, safe spot behind a large commercial business. Close to town, perfect for a quick overnight stop. Early departure needed to avoid arriving workers in the morning. Would definately stay again if we are in the area.
This site is behind some commercial buildings and close to a railroad track...but you would never know it. Everything stops and gets quiet after about 4:00 p.m. and you’re in a site as quiet as the woods.
The host dropped by as we were setting up and we talked for a long time. He made several recommendations about dining, local events and things to go see.
We had a great adventure exploring the Danbury area and plan to return to see the leaves change this fall. Highly recommend this site!
We drive a 45ft motorhome and had been unable to find something close to our kids in Danbury. Jay's place was perfect. No problem getting in and the location is great. Felt very safe and actually pretty quiet. It was hot while we were there and had the air conditioning running so we did not hear the trains. We had a chance to meet Jay when we were checking out the site and he is a great host.
We wanted to thank Jay personally for sharing his wonderful place. We felt very safe. Jay even stopped in to make sure we were all set and offered info about nice places to visit. We will most defiantly stay again if our travels bring us this way.
The spot was on pavement behind a commercial business operation. It was quite secure. 20amp service was plenty for my need.....
The host and I missed each other, we seemed to both be on the road but in opposite directions. But, still a hearty thanks to him!
Jay was nice enough to meet out in order for us to check out his host location before bringing down our big rig. Very pleasant visit and the site seems like it will suit us well. Hoping for a visit with our motorhome soon.
Jtmoody couple came to check that we found their commercial site. The directions had been perfect!! They kindly let us hook to electric and directed us to the local laundromat and the small town of Bethel (home town of P.T. Barnum) for a ramble and dinner.
We were staying one night but highly recommend the stop over.
This was the perfect spot as we were passing through the area to do some hiking. The host gave great directions on how to get to his location, it was easy to find and easy to pull into with our 40 ft motorhome + tow. Jay stopped by to say hello and shared a wealth of knowledge not only about the local area but several spots in New England - helpful since it's our first time through! We're glad we took his suggestion and hiked through Tarrywile Park and Hearthstone Castle which are just over a mile away.
Heard some trains during the evening but it was quiet at night. Felt very safe, highly recommend!
As usual, a great stay- convenient for us to visit family in the area. It's in a quiet industrial area, but for the occasional train. We appreciate Jay's hospitality and will be back again.
We were in a bit of a bind on our travels from the east coast back home to California and had to detour at the last minute. Our host responded to our request immediately and allowed us to park for a few days while we took care of our business. He came and checked on us and made sure we were all settled in. The space is level and private. We felt very safe. It is close to food, fuel stations, a laundromat, and the train station. We went into New York for an overnight and it was a pretty quick hour and twenty minutes to get there. Thanks for hosting us for the weekend on such short notice!
His response time and directions were excellent. Have been coming to Danbury in October many years. Have struggled with finding local campgrounds. We were delighted to find that there was a Boondocker in town. Location is behind a business building, not visible from the street. We felt very safe. Occasional train noise, but not a problem. Host greeted us and we felt welcome. FYI. We found a free dump station at Welcome Center at Exit 2 on I84.
Our host gave us perfect directions to park on his property, and we were able to easily park without his being present.
We went out to dinner after parking, and sadly missed meeting him, but it was great that he took the time to come and check on us on a Saturday night.
This is a safe, clean, quiet, level location, with many choices for eating out, and even a laundromat half a block away, which we utilized to kill some time after dinner.
We had a quiet night, and would gladly overnight here again!
Mr. Moody gave perfect directions and everything was just as he said. Parked in the shade and pulled cord to the electric. Was able to use CPAP without running the generator. Train came through at 1:30am and not another until 7:30am. Good nights rest.
Had a wonderful respite from driving home from Canada at Jay's shop. (sorry for not writing until now but myriad family emergencies kept popping up.)
For June it was incredibly hot (upper 90's). Found his place with little trouble, and hooked up to the electric provided.
Thank heavens it's an industrial complex and being a Sunday afternoon I could run our generator for some much needed AC without bothering a soul.
I never did meet my host, but being kindred spirits in boat building I'm sure we would have hit it off!
Thanks Jay for a nice night....
The owner was out of town and allowed us to park at his shop. It's actually a commercial property so there was some forklift noise as an alarm clock :-)
The place was safe, paved access, well lighted, easy to find!
Thank you so much for the stay... your the only person in this part of CT and it allowed us to visit with friends here on our way through.
The only bad thing is that JayMoody was out of town and he builds wooden kayaks and more, it would have been very interesting to see his work!!
Again, thank you!
they allowed us to stay on their property came to see that we found the hook up very helpful and pleasant. had other boondockers there at the same time they made sure we could both fit comfortably.
Nice, well-lit location with plenty of room, though you'll have to disconnect your toad to turn around. In a clean industrial location, but quiet at night once the trains stop running. Jay is a great host, we had a nice chat.
Jay and our stay on his property was great! Jay made the whole experience very easy and he was kind and generous. We fit perfectly with our 30' class A. The parking area is well lit and we felt safe at night, coming and going. The location is close to many amenities. One of our best BW stays - thanks Jay!
Nice quiet and safe location. Lots of space. Easier to find in daylight. Thanks to jaytmoody.
