We are developing our retirement property that is a part of a timber farm that we are revitalizing and part hay farm. It is 256 Acres. My wife and I are in our early 50's. This is a very secure and private location, with a secure gate. Machinery and dog walks sometimes occur around 7AM in the morning. We are developing the property with trails and have a private 18-acre lake with a dock stocked with large mouth bass. It is a catch and release situation right now. We do not expect compensation for utilities, unless excessive. We are friendly, easy going and love east Texas!
II am told that I am excellent at training dogs. I have titled German Shepherds in the beginning stages of Schutzhund (BH Level). I am good at building things and developing land. We enjoy working this land to make it beautiful, full of wildlife, and good stewards of this Timber/hay Ranch. Casey (wife) is smarter than me and really fun! :)
We have five dogs, and one barn cat. One of our dogs is a working dog--friendly, yet not a pet.
We have put travel on hold for now, but we enjoy the mountains, forests, ocean-side with beaches, and places to mountain bike and road bike. We love the peacefulness and tranquility of our little place in Texas.
We now spend most of our time in Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Dallas. Currently we are not traveling extensively, as we have started building our house with a fall 2020 completion date.
We have a 2014 Airstream Interstate Extended. 24.5', Silver, no markings, no slide-outs, Class B, Diesel
We were happy to be Steve and Casey's first "Boondockers Welcome" hosts.
We got to visit with Steve, Maggie, Moxie, and Major and hope that Casey can make it next time.
We would highly recommend this host and beautiful location for anyone to stay. Very peaceful and secluded. This host goes above and beyond to make you welcome. Has amenities that are very wonderful to have when traveling for several days.
This is our 3rd stay at bark ranch and it was very enjoyable like always.
Our host is very accommodating and we enjoyed spending time sharing meals and talking. There is lots of wildlife and it was still nice even though we had some rain.
We still didn't get to meet is better half but there's always the future. Thanks Bark Ranch!
You can't ask for better hosts and a better environment to enjoy your stay in. They have worked extremely hard to make this a boondockers paradise. Good conversation lasted well into the evenings. If it weren't for needing sleep we could have talked forever. We will definitely be returning in the future to catch up with our newly made friends.
Bark Ranch's owner is a very gracious host and he & Pat & I spent hours conversing on many different topics. His wife was away on business and we didn't get to meet this time. We definitely want to see the magnificent home they're building whe its finished. The accommodations for dogs is top shelf.
This was a stay for the books and easily my favorite. The hosts at Bark Ranch were amazing. So cool to see what you can build when you buy raw undeveloped land. The dock and lake are so peaceful and had some of the best sunsets. Water is a great temp (we didn't swim, but I did fall in while putting in my kayak). Looks like plenty of good fishing too.
The local town is great as well and hosts know some of the best spots to visit. Our hope is to be back very soon.
The owners have 5 dogs that are super friendly and very well trained and behaved. *Might be hard with people with dogs or kids so make sure to talk to host.
Big, beautiful, peaceful place to stay. Felt very safe staying here. Beautiful pond with deck to sit upon. Lots of space to roam. We had electric and water. Sewer was available in one particular area. Friendly host and playful dogs especially Maggie. Hope to return another time or meet the host and wife on the road somewhere.
The BarkRanch was very comfortable. Our host was very hospitable and communicated with us throughout the process, which included canceling and rebooking, due to RV repair delaying us. The ranch is a beautiful wooded setting overlooking his lake. We had a level pad that we backed into with ease. Our host showed us around the property, which is really well thought out. We stayed up late after sunset and enjoyed conversation about plans for the ranch, and our journey on the road. I think I'd load up on more insect repellent because they love me and love the ranch too. It was a wonderful stay and really nice getting to know our host. We would recommend anyone going to East Texas, to stay at BarkRanch. And we hope our travels in the future take us through there again!
Host and his dog were waiting for us at gate and leading us to the place.
We arrived the place no electric pole and telephone pole but you have everything for civilization life needs.
We enjoyed chatting with host. I recommend this place, if you have a chance to travel east Texas.
Our first sight as we pulled into our host's property immediately made us feel at peace. What a beautiful setting, from the large lake to the endless woods and hiking trails. But, the primary reason we will return is our host. He was extremely genuine, and made us feel right at home. Our plans only allowed us to stay one night. Were it not for that, we would have loved to stay longer, and spend more time in front of the wood stove, sharing life stories. There was plenty of room to park our 38ft motorhome. We left having made a great connection with this great individual. Fantastic family of canines that we truly enjoyed, as did our dog Buddy whom is missing the girls!
Thank you for the beautiful lights last
night ! Will see you again!
Wow, very hard to leave.
Good night rest
