Lifelong campers with a trucker camper at present. We've lived here just shy of 40 years and look forward to meeting other campers of any age. I've worked here in the paper industry making toilet paper and have traveled a lot around the world but now have stopped that kind of work. My wife worked at home, raising our kids, and supported the local library started by her parents many years ago. Our son, Tim, has opened a welding business here using our farm buildings, specializing in aluminum and SS along with steel. He has a mobile rig and has done much work on docks and boats. Our homesite has large grassy area with water and electricity (15, 30 and 50 amp at different sites around our buildings. We are located about 3 miles off a major 4 lane highway and 2 miles from a small town. We have a 2+ acre pond, stocked, with a firepit--your chairs--firewood available. Also, lots of deer, Canada geese, turkeys and other wildlife.
Welding and some camper repairs are available on site. If you want some aluminum fabrication, Tim can handle that.
We don't travel with our house cats. We love pets and bringing yours is A OK with us.
We like boondocking in Utah, Walmarts, and just about any place we won't get stuck in some mud.
We live near Fremont, Wisconsin about 2 miles out of town and about a mile from the Wolf River--white bass capital of the world! Fremont has about 600 residents, a nice library, several bars and restaurants for very reasonable prices and great food. There is one church in town and several others around us in a 4 mile radius, more beyond that of several denominations. We're about 24 miles west of Appleton, 30 NW from Oshkosh and the EAA, 15 miles east of Waupaca and 7 miles east of Weyauwega. There is a large Jellystone park about 1 mile from us and Fremont has several other campgrounds nearby along with boat rentals and boat landings. So bring your boat and enjoy fishing. Sand bottom swimming areas too. Award winning Webfooter water ski shows Wednedays and Sundays.
Behind our truck camper we pull a car dolly with a 1988 VW Cabriolet convertible loaded on it. Total length of camper and the towed car is 46 feet. We can detach the car before setting up the camper. Our truck camper requires 12.5 feet of overhead clearance.
We were welcomed as we arrived and our hosts politely aided in our getting settled. Another Boondocker couple was at the farm. The six of us enjoyed a campfire organized by Funefarmer; warm fire, warm friendship and stars in the sky. What could be finer!
Our amazing hosts showed such hospitality even before we arrived. We called to let them know we would be late due to needing to get the battery on our tow charged. They informed us they had a charger and would be happy to help. As we pulled in, they rolled out a charger and got started getting our car running.
They spoiled us through our entire stay. We were debating where to get dinner and they presented us with printed out menus from local restaurants. They are a wealth of knowledge for what to do in the area and all their advice was wonderful (definitely hit the local cheese maker).
The best part was the nightly campfires up by the lake. The first night it was the 4 of us. The next night there was another boondocking couple and we all enjoyed sharing stories around the campfire. Our hosts had even gone to the local candy store and gotten us all caramel apples.
The location is gorgeous. Their farm is so beautiful. We will be back, but next time for longer! Thank you again FuneFarmers!!!
Friendly hosts in a serene setting made for a wonderful stop. We took them up on their recommendation of a local cheese factory. It was great fun. Now we have several pounds of cheese to eat!
We had the absolute best stay here. The hosts are fantastic! We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the hosts throughout our stay and would absolutely come back here if we travel back to Wisconsin again. We are so appreciative of their above and beyond generosity. And their land is absolutely beautifil. We had so much fun here!! Thank you!!
A double review here because I was super curious about Boondockers Welcome and had been looking around at hosts along our route.
So, kudos to a great, inviting profile because we joined AND requested a stay on the same day.
I really appreciated the quick responses, which made me feel less nervous.
When we drove up to see a wave and a smiling face. I knew it would be a great stay!!
Beautiful property with plenty of room. We enjoyed watching the birds on the pond, the osprey nest on the cell tower, and the sunsets were gorgeous.
Bonus that we could have 30amp electricity too.
We had a really nice conversations about careers, farms, and travels. We even extended our stay to check out the day trip sights nearby.
So, two nights and felt welcomed and secure.
Thanks again!! I’ve got you marked as a favorite already.
We are first time boondockers and this was a wonderful experience!! Funefarmer has a beautiful property with a pond a patch of wild flowers . They are such a sweet couple. They spent some time later in the evening chatting with us about the boondocking experience and it has us itching to keep traveling. Loved the easy conversations and the no pressure to leave at a specific time the next day. We will definitely be back!
This couple is the epitome of generous hosts. We could not have felt more welcome and enjoyed sitting on the porch chatting, walking their beautiful property, utilizing the maps they lent us, which highlighted wonderful spots we may not have found on our own. Even sharing delicious local treats with us. We can not wait to return to this area and these amazing hosts. See y’all on the road 😊
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the FunEFarm. Great hosts, level spot, great quiet rural setting. Even got to see 4 Sand Hill Cranes by the pond. They recommended great restaurants, close enough to bike to.
Wonderful people and the site is matched in it's beauty. Certainly worth a trip out of the way. If you're visiting this spot, you have got to try their local BBQ ribs on the waterfront in the nearest town. Absolutely the best spot we've stayed so far. Make sure to add this spot to your trip.
Thank you for the wonderful stay and conversation! Our trip had mostly rain but our hosts offered shelter in a guest bathhouse they had near our site. Will definitely come back when we have some time to fish!
Staying here was like a much needed vacation inside of a vacation. Honestly, the MOST BEAUTIFUL area and family we've come across so far. They won us over on day one. We can truthfully say that I hope one day to bless them as much as they blessed us during our stay. Good folks through and through (I can't express how lovely this couple is) We can't wait to come back. If you're traveling through this area, it would be worth it to you and your family, to stop by for a visit too. :) Safe travels.
As we pulled up to the property, we were warmly greeted by our hosts. They directed us to an easy access area to park and showed us where to plug in and where to get water. They were so friendly and helpful - we felt like family. We enjoyed the peaceful setting and listening to the many songbirds in the trees. There is a beautiful pond, gazebo, and fire ring available as well. We enjoyed the stay and the friendly host and hostess. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
We also recommend a stay with Funefarmer! They are gracious and generous hosts with a wonderful location. We were traveling just as various states were opening up again following the Covid shutdowns. We still wanted to minimize social contacts with others and keep our distance as we could. Funefarmer fully understood and were helpful in getting us set up on their property. We have a 42’ MH and after pulling straight in, decided it was better to back out and back in so we could position the utilities on the proper side of the RV. Once set up, and after chatting a bit, they told us to enjoy their property and ourselves. They have a beautiful pond which we walked to and enjoyed. There were geese to see, but a special treat were the Sandhill Cranes with babies. Also saw the Osprey that nests on the nearby cell tower. On the way back to our MH we were able to harvest some fresh asparagus (which our hosts invited us to do earlier) that we had with dinner just a few minutes later. It was delicious!
All in all, this was a great stay. Thank you so much! If we are in the area again we will certainly return.
Highly recommend Funefarmer! We were in the process of moving from Arkansas to Wisconsin and with all the virus shut downs and really didn’t have anywhere else to go. We asked if we could stay a little longer so we could look for a house in the area. These folks not only let us stay A Lot longer but actually located our new home for us. Kind, generous and helpful.... they made us feel like family from the very first day. We can never thank them enough!!!
