We love to travel and have previously spent 12 months driving/riding from the UK to OZ. We love to experience new cultures and have lived in Thailand on and off for the last four years. Our feet are itchy again so we intend to tour as much of North and Central America as possible over the next few years, our first trip in January 2014 will be in a rented RV, we will test the water as far as size and length of RV goes, having decided on the right RV for us we will then return and purchase one as soon as we can sell our home in Thailand. Boondocking is very similar to our overlanding experiences, where you need to reduce costs as much as possible to be able to stay on the road as long as possible, and take the opportunity to meet a variety of people by being members of a club for like minded people.
We are both retired although my husband is under retirement age, I retired in 2009 from my lecturing position at Salford University, Mark had a variety of manual jobs that he was happy to leave behind. We still have a home in the UK that my adult son looks after whilst we are wandering around the world. We are very much looking forward to experiencing the varied landscapes of the USA.
We own a very small motorhome in the UK that we use with a tent to give us more room, last summer we toured the UK and eventually headed home after getting wet, wet, wet. For years we have both ridden motorbikes but these days only own two scooters that are in Thailand.
My husband is good with mechanics and DIY. I do most of the driving and organisation of our trips. We both enjoy our tablets/laptops but would not consider ourselves experts.
We will be in Florida in January for three months. and hope to find plenty of boondocking locations, so if anyone has any suggestions they would be most welcome. As well as saving money we do not enjoy RV parks full of noise with the only view from the window being the next RV.
Manchester UK and Hua Hin Thailand
Our rented rig will be approx. 25 feet long, we will be picking it up from Orlando mid January.
