We are a relaxed, retired, older, professional couple (mid 70's) living the good life on a 5-acre lot on the north side of Cheyenne, WY. Our children and grandchildren live in Denver so we see a lot of them, but not TOO MUCH!!
We enjoy cruising, RV'ing (older 35' Pace Arrow), travel, reading, streaming video (OUR choices!), good food, good wine with an occasional sip of something stronger (dirty martinis), and many other things, which I cannot remember at my age (76)! We live a very laid back, stress-free lifestyle!! YUPPIES, WE ARE NOT!! DO NOT BRING YOUR POLITICS OR YOUR PROBLEMS HERE!!
We have an RV electrical box (20 & 30 amp) on the front corner of the garage and wonderful tasting well water, for those that may want to fill their freshwater tanks, but no direct hookups! Quiet Generators are acceptable, but hooking up to my RV electrical box is free of charge for non-extended stays. There is no blackwater dumpsite on the property, but there is a free, clean dumpsite at the WY Welcome Center on I-25, Exit 4, just south of town. There are some closer paysites. We have an RV Guest Wi Fi named Cheyenne Home RV Guest / Password - Boondockers.
My wife, Becky, is a retired human resource management professional, having worked for several Fortune 500 corporations during her career. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico, attended an English only Catholic school from K - 12, then to the states for her undergraduate college years, prior to law school at the Univ. of Puerto Rico. We have lived in Colorado & Wyoming since 1984!
I am a retired aviation professional, having been a flight instructor, charter pilot, airline pilot, airline check pilot, airline Chief Pilot & airline Director of Operations. My favorite aviation phrases are "The superior pilot uses his superior knowledge and superior judgment to avoid situations requiring the use of his superior skill!" followed by the secret to a long and successful aviation career can be summed up in 3 words "Don't hit nuthin'!"
We used to have a dog, but due to our mobile lifestyle, we did not replace him. Our 5-acre lot is a hound's paradise, loaded with ground squirrels and rabbits to chase! NORMAL pets are welcome, but must be supervised so as not to impact the neighbors! While WY does have snakes, we have never ever seen one on our property in our 20 years of residency! We do have coyotes occasionally after dark, so be sure to monitor small pets when outdoors during that time!
While not technically boondocking, we enjoy USFS locations, which are quite inexpensive when using our NPS Golden Age Park Pass, granting us a 50% discount to their already inexpensive rates, in addition to access to all National Parks for free!
We are less enamored of state parks, which while frequently very nice, can be expensive by the time you pay the park entrance fee on top of the nightly camping fee (plus, frequently, a fee for the tow vehicle!) Out here in the west, there are many places where you can simply pull off of the road and spend the night unbothered! We also really appreciate Canadian Provincial Parks, which used to be quite inexpensive with lean to's full of free firewood for campfires on location.
We very seldom use commercial RV resorts or campgrounds. We prefer the natural side of things rather than the commercialization! I am looking forward to activating some of our BOONDOCKER'S subscription rewards and meeting other HOSTS.
CHEYENNE, WY, was our escape from Denver to a more relaxed and laid back lifestyle as retirement loomed! Rush hour used to be when all 3 cars were on the road at once! Needless to say, things have changed a little in the last 20 years! The only major drawback is the famous WY wind! We bear the brunt of it due to our location on the top of a ridgeline! The saving grace is the frequency and strength of the wind tends to taper off during the warmer months when most RV'ers tend to be in this area. On the plus side, there is very little need for A/C during the day, with cool sleeping at night!
The first thing you notice upon your arrival is that the house is sitting right on top of a very large Hill. Impressive View. We were greeted by the host and promptly made to feel at home as we filled up our water tanks and then moved our camper over to the appropriate spot, hooking up to the available 30 amp circuit. The host had company over for dinner so we were not able to visit very much. But, really enjoyed our stay there and would certainly do it again. Would highly recommend this site for people traveling in this area. Thanks again for taking good care of us! Sincerely appreciated.
Our Harvest Host location for the night in Colorado ended up being too tight for our big rig, so last minute I sent a message asking if we could show up late....and a day early. We were prepared to park at a truck stop if we needed to but shortly after sending a message, we got a YES! Thank you again for letting us show up early. Beautiful location. Wow. The views go on for miles and very quiet. Short ride to town.
We are so thankful that we were able to stay at this beautiful location. Our host was very helpful with any questions (by email as social distancing was in play) and welcomed us to his home. The land was beautiful! Our doodle had a blast playing ball on the open land.
Thank you so much for accepting our request during this time of COVID. We appreciate you!
This was our first Boondockers Welcome stay. GTS1544 were very pleasant and hospitable. Great conversation was had. We feel blessed that they shared their property with us! Plenty of flat space with ability to fill water and use 30 amp power. Wonderful Hosts! We would definitely stay anytime they’d have us! A great experience.
Our hosts were so gracious allowing us to fill our tank with some delicious tasting water. They met us and gave options to park in the wide open prairie . Our fur babies enjoyed running and being off leash. If not for pandemic situation we would have enjoyed spending more quality time getting to know them better.
What a beautiful place to retire to! We had only one night at Spaghetti's Roost but would have enjoyed a longer visit and would have loved to socialize with our hosts. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus situation, we had to settle for a short visit, communicating at a distance (6 ft). Still, they were gracious and accommodating. Ideal hosts. We would definitely return.
My wife and I had a great stay here as the guests of GTS1544 and his wife. We had beautiful 360 degree views of the surrounding prairie and mountains. Hosts were very accommodating in helping us select a good spot to set up (with the bonus of 110 power) and because of the Covid 19 they gave us good tips on the local area via email daily. It was a great spot for our dog to run and get some exercise. It is a great place to boondock on the edge of town with lots to do and see. We would love to stay here again when we are in the area.
Very gracious host with detailed instructions and beautiful view from the property.
We stayed two nights on our host’s land.....and had a relaxing time for the both of us and our dog, Roscoe. Communication with our hosts was extremely good, especially during this time of “socially distancing” because of Covid. We came up to play pickleball with friends and will be back!
We parked up on the ridge with 300 degree views of the area. We saw ground squirrels, rabbits and a multitude of birds.
The hosts really tried to give us any and all help they could with information on the local area. We were disappointed we couldn't have interacted more due to the weather and the covid-19 restrictions.
We thank them very much for their hospitality it was much appreciated.
Our hosts we’re very kind and communicated well through messages due to the coronavirus. They did come to the porch to wish us well on our travels. The property was very easy to find and had plenty of space to accommodate us. We highly recommend this host!
We are Canadian and try to return in our Country faster than usually. In the special situation cause by Coronavirus, they accepted and offered us all commodity possible. We respected the social distancing for them and for us. Thank you so much. Their site is large and the view is awesome. Dump is just less than 5 minutes from there. It was very quiet and our dog were able to run and to play often.
Perfect spot just outside of Cheyenne. you'd never know you are only 10 minutes to as much shopping and amenities as you could ask for. Hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Directions are spot on and road and driveway are super easy to navigate. Expect a constant "breeze" and great cellular signal on top of the hill. Highly recommended!
When our plans changed on short notice, we had to keep driving to the west coast without stopping overnight. Although we had to cancel with this host, he called back and told us about some great places to pull over and park en route so we could catch a couple hours of sleep. Thank you so much!
