Engineer and computer analyst retired in 2007 and moved onto a 42’ sailing catamaran. Cruised the east coast for a couple of years and settled in Asheville, NC. We bought a new 2017 Ford Transit and worked the better part of two years building it into a camper for touring the USA.
Sally is an electrical engineer and Lora is into woodworking. We lived on a sailboat for a few years and gathered a lot of skills that transferred to the RV world. We bought a Ford Transit and designed and built our own conversion. Electrical systems, plumbing, cabinetry, upholstery, etc. We studied a lot, learned from our mistakes, but had a blast with the build. Now it’s time to take the road.
Arwen the dog (Lab mix) travels on our adventures, but Peaty and Barley the kitlets stay at home.
After having boondocked on a boat (sailors call it gunkholing), we’re just getting started on land. Our favorite places by sea were tucking into the coastal islands of Georgia.
Now that we’re touring in our van, we love boondocking in the west, especially Lora’s home state of Montana.
Ford Transit Extended, 22’ long and 7’ wide. DIY Conversion. 400AH Lithium (LiFePO4) electrical system with 3000 watt Victron inverter/charger and 280 amp dedicated alternator designed for boondocking. We are fully self-contained with cooking, sleeping and toilet facilities.
Salire, was right on time and kept us posted on their ETA. They were very sweet, appreciative, quiet and took a few minutes to stretch their legs and chill at the dock. Their sweet dog enjoyed having some room to run. Perfect guests and we would love to host them again.
Because of a family emergency, we didnt get to meet them. We were disappointed not to personally interact with them, but they were great at communicating with us.
Would definitely have them back.
