My wife, Sue, and I are retired, and took early SS in 2012. My wife is a former RN with a multitude of practical and artsy interests. She loves the dog and cat, landscaping, interior decorating, horses, art, photography, "controlled shopping", cooking, sewing, wines, movies, the St Louis Cardinals and, of course, traveling. I'm an Army retiree with 23 years of service. My interests are Sue, family (includes the dog), traveling, golf, reading, the St. Louis Cardinals, "Mizzou" Tigers, my fraternity, Theta Chi and movies (mostly the popcorn). I, occasionally, participate in Sue's interest's because she does.
Through the use of "Boondockers Welcome" and some other travel clubs reviewed and recommended by these"frugal" people, we hope to get the most out of our future RVing experiences.
As described above, Sue has a variety of skills worth sharing. I would say I complement the list of skills she offers. I am handy but no expert in anything.
Yes. a shelter dog of mixed breed. "Stella" is mostly an Andulasian sheep dog. She weighs about sixty lbs. and is a great watchdog. The only time she barks is when someone she doesn't know comes around, As soon as she has checked someone out she then seeks their affection. She's great with children. Unfortunately she has hip dysplasia in both hips and her rear knees slip out of joint. We just have to remind her she's six years old and not a young pup anymore.
We live in Sumter, SC but grew up in Rolla, MO.
We have a 2005 27' Winnebago Itasca Spirit class C motor home. It has one slide-out.
We hosted Steve and his dog Stella for 2 separate nights. He called an hour ahead of arriving, arrived on time and was very friendly. We invited him to an evening out with our camping friends. He fit in perfectly! We would recommend hosting this new boondocker anytime you get the request to do so. Hope to see you again Jerry and Iris
This was our first time using Boondockers Welcome and we were NOT disappointed! Steve was an incredible host. He invited us in for a beer and told some great stories. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to meet Sue but heard good things! We left for our next campsite the day of a big snow/ice storm and Steve called us that afternoon to make sure we had gotten in safely! Thanks again!
Great hosts and communication. Lovely area near the Shaw Airforce base. Took the recommendation to go to Palmetto Osyster House down the road a few miles and could not have been happier. Monday is $8/pound crab leg night! Stuffed ourselves on crab and enjoyed the stay with Sf. We had to get back on the road and left early the next morning. We will stay here again if ever in the area. Thanks!!
Stayed here just after Christmas. A beautiful location right on a golf course. These folks are very friendly and outgoing. Unfortunately I had a cold so I hope they forgive me for not being to outgoing. I didn't want to share it with anyone. A great spot to boondock.
Slyltc were great. Nice spot on a golf course neighborhood where we could walk the dog. They invited us in and had a glass of wine together and laughed all night about there crazy ghost stories and camping experiences. Hope to meet again on the road soon.
Our hosts Steve, Sue (and Stella)were extremely hospitable and wonderful hosts. Great spot, easy access and quiet location. Hopefully we can someday return the favour.
