I am a semi retired widow who finds great joy in traveling on a shoestring. Love meeting the locals, living the life of each destination. I live in a renovated granary raising organic poultry and vegetables. Growing things, teaching others practical skills, cooking and baking are all passions of mine....I love traveling; not to just see sights, but to meet the people who live there. When not traveling, I am hosting others on their travels at my farm. What am I about? Posted in my home are these 5 rules for living-
Tell the truth
I once read that "the virtue of hospitality is an attitude of the heart". That is what I hope to share and partake of with Boondockers Welcome!
Gardening, raising poultry, teaching others forgotten practical skills, preserving the bounty, fermentation, bread baking
I have 3 dogs, several cats, chickens and a guard goose all living here on the farm. All well trained (except the goose) but only the little rat terrier mix travels with me occasionally.
all over the US and Canada!

Super nice to be able to hear all of your stories and information. Please come back again!
Great guest to learn from. If Alaska is in your plans you need to host stonebird. Loved her little DIY van camper.
We had a lovely night under the stars and really enjoyed our stay. The garden along with the little animals was such a nice touch. Host was very kind and we're very grateful that we were able to stay there for the night!
We hoped to visit Niagara Falls last spring and planned a stay at Stonebird. I was so impressed because Stonebird alerted us to unusual snow conditions in the area at that time and we decided to postpone our trip. We planned again for Labor Day and could not have been more pleased with our visit. The farm is tucked in, away from the road, so if you must arrive after dark, you might miss the opening in the trees to the long, private driveway to the Farm. Once inside, it’s a charming, private oasis. Plenty of space for our bus next to a table, chairs and fire ring. Electric and water hookups. We woke to the sounds of chickens and geese and enjoyed a leisurely morning on our bus before heading out each day. Stonebird offered us tips for where to eat and what to check out while in the area. She was warm and hospitable and we enjoyed sharing our RV experiences and learning about eachother’s equipment and set up. It’s experiences like this that make me so happy to be a part of Boondockers Welcome. Easy-going hospitality for travelers at its finest! Thank you, Stonebird!
Nice and quiet beautiful location. Had good time exploring the area. Thanks for hosting us.
The hosts were friendly and welcoming and the spot was perfect. 10/10 would recommend.
Our host and her son were so generous with their limited time to tell us about the area and beyond!
It was so quiet and cozy tucked in the back behind the house. We were gifted with the opportunity to pick berries and veggies from their BEAUTIFUL, lush, "happy," yes happy, garden. The plants were vibrant and the wonderful sweet smells were amazing.
Her chickens and guard geese were very happy roaming around. Her kitties are so sweet as well as her dogs.
We were able to hook up to electricity and fill our water tank before we left.
Overall we enjoyed our stay on her beautiful, peaceful property.
Thank you so much for the stay and hospitality!
Passing through the area after Niagara Falls, and what a great place to stay! The host was so friendly and helpful, getting our electricity figured out, offering us blackberries off her plants (very good!) and suggestions for things in the area. Definitely recommend if you go this direction!
Heather was a wonderful host who welcomed us the moment we got to her place. There’s a great walking trail steps from where we parked and our dog was happy being off lead (but in voice control) after a long drive. Heather offered us some heads of lettuce from her garden too! Would recommend and we’d certainly consider coming back when we’re next in the area so we have more time for some exploring and visiting.
We LOVED staying with this host. Very informative about her community and even told us about attractions along the way. I sincerely hope that we meet again.
I had a great visit with this host. I was serenaded by the frogs in the early evening and then coyotes later on. It’s a fun property to visit and Stonebird couldn’t have been nicer. We had some great chats that epitomize the BW experience of a friendly face at the end of a day’s travel. It was a perfect base to visit downtown Rochester.
Super nice and helpful.
Nice level spot to park for the night. Didn't even have to unhitch! Comfortable and quiet area
Gorgeous, peaceful spot to stay, with a warm and welcoming host.
Really nice quiet spot in a small town. Lots of room around back with shady trees. Host was very friendly and accommodating for our two day stay. We loved the animals and vibrant garden.
Host was very helpful with tips about our trip to visit Niagara Falls amongst other things. Great little spot nestled behind her house which we found out was once a mill that has been lovingly restored. Be careful driving in as there are a few geese, chickens, dogs & cat. Thank you for the stay
Heather and her sons were great Hosts. We felt comfortable and had a great time. We sat by the campfire, picked raspberries, pet the cat, and chatted with Heather about things to do along the eastern coastline. we would highly recommend camping here. It had a country feel and was very relaxing.
We enjoyed our stay in your place. It was very peaceful. With all we need...
We will come back. Thanks for your hospitality in this weard period of time. We appreciate.
Thanks It was our last strech back home.
Great host, very accommodating and generous, gifted us with her own organic eggs. Interesting to talk to, including good tips for traveling. Woke up to the sound of the free range chickens. Right next to a small post office - very handy. Five miles from the Cobblestone Church Museum.
From the moment I arrived, I bonded with my host, her son, plus their dogs, cats, turkeys and the protector of the farm...a giant white male goose. We had tremendous commonality and interesting conversations. Generally, they are very busy with their farm, so I was happy to catch them when they had a bit of time to share their thoughts. If you're in the mood to spoil yourself, she also has an airbnb, so a large space with hot showers for airbnb guests is also available with a reservation.
We so enjoyed staying here, especially our day at Niagara Falls. Everything was as described although a bit tight for our 40 foot motor home. It is doable however. So peaceful and we even made friends with the cat. Gracious hosts.
The site was level and easily accessed off the main blacktop road. Our host was an engaging conversationalist exploring a raft of topics including our joint loves of travel, good diet, and organics. A very peaceful night.
