By trade, I am a researcher and community developer. My husband and his siblings own an excavation and septic company in the area. Both of us are born and raised in Bracebridge, although I have travelled to over 20 countries. My husband...not so many. However, we both love to meet new people and share our knowledge of the area, as well as learn more about where others come from and there travelling experiences.
I am an excellent community organizer, fundraiser, website builder, event coordinator and researcher. My husband LOVES to dig holes and tear down buildings although, for both of us, it would be more about consulting due to time constraints.
Yes. We have several cats in the barn, as well as 'Ned', our 25-year-old donkey.
We live in Bracebridge, ON... a town located in the middle of the District of Muskoka. We are surrounded by trees, water (1,600 lakes and 19 watersheds), and beautiful rock as we are on the starting point of the Canadian Shield. There are many activities happening although out the late spring to late fall. We own a house on a small lake and have a farm on the edge of town...we enjoy the best of both worlds.
We have a Terry trailer and my husband has a 350 Dodge Ram.
We totally enjoyed our guests this past weekend. We are sorry we didn't have more time to spend with them. Would host this couple at anytime.
The stay here was great. The hosts were away and allowed us to use their trailer site and all services, unneeded, but appreciated.
Warren & Lorna.....
We pulled into Lay Back Farm and said ‘WOW’. What lay before us was a pristine farm and a spot for our our rig welcoming us. Even better was a water and hydro hookup. I quickly got on the internet to review the Host instructions. I wanted to explore right away and didn’t want to break any rules. There was a spectacular view of land and an old beautiful barn and other outbuildings that had places to sit and relax. And not to forget Ned the donkey! Our hosts were more than accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed and sharing information about local shops and neat places. Because of our hosts we have decided to stay another night in this area and view the stars at Torrence Barrows, eat pizza at Pie and listen to a parking lot concert! We didn’t realize how much we could do in this area and next time we will plan a little better. But for now we are over the moon that we had the opportunity to meet our gracious host and stay at Lay Back Farm!
P & G are wonderful hosts who even offered us refuge during a tornado warning! We enjoyed meeting Ned the donkey and their place is very close to hiking, biking and water. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!
Had a nice visit, and a perfect Landing Pad! Beautiful location, and handy to Haliburton Highlands, the Muskoka Lakes area and Algonquin Provincial Park.
What a great feeling to be welcomed back😊
We even had a bike 🚴ride to the hosts beautiful Lake Home and had a 🍸 drink a nice conversation.
Thanks so very much for the fun and great Hospitality👍
We feel like at home on your beautiful and peaceful property. Also great to come back any time we're in Bracebridge is an amazing feeling, due to your kindness and generosity.
One of our visits we may have a chance to see you both.
All the best and God bless you.
Regula and Walter
PS: sorry for this late comment!
We were warmly welcomed and had some conversations, but our hosts were not well😢
The property was a beautiful farm and we felt safe.
Hope to come back some time or meet each other while traveling🚙
All the best.
Our one night stay was an enjoyable experience. We have just great memories of meeting our Hosts.
Thank You for having us.
We were greeted and assisted to get set up. We connected to their electricity which was very helpful. We then sat on their porch and had nice talk with our hosts. A very pleasant weekend.
The hosts couldnt have been more helpful and kind, they went totally above and beyond.
They are exactly what BDW is about, they love to meet people and share their beutiful space with like minded people. They have a deep passion and knowledge of the area and were more than happy discuss over a cold beer. We shared many meals and drinks during our stay it was like being with old friends.
Highly recommend Lay Back Farm and really hope they have some great experiences when they start using the other side of boondockers welcome.
Thanks again, we will be back again one day. :)
