After retiring, we traveled to the west coast and the southwestern US. Since that time, we have been in most of the lower 48 states as well as Alaska.. During the spring and summer of 2012 we spent 71 days going to and from Alaska, including some Alaska Marine Highway travel with our RV on board.
During the spring & summer of 2013 we traveled up the east coast and visited 15 eastern and northeastern states plus Nova Scotia, Quebec, New Brunswick, & Prince Edward Island. We usually spend January in central Florida.
In the late fall of 2013 we also travelled to Europe and took a river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. Fun trip. We enjoyed meeting all the new people in the various countries but the fellow passengers were very interesting too.
In mid summer of 2014 we traveled north from Alabama and generally followed the route of the Mississippi River north to the Apostle Islands of Lake Superior, went east to UP of Michigan, around to the province of Ontario in Canada. We pent several days in Ontario visiting Oakville, Toronto, and Ottawa en-route to up state New York. There was only one disappointment in that we were unable to visit the 911 Memorial in lower Manhattan due to needing a 3 day advance reservation since the demand exceeded the availability of space. The 911 Memorial is a very popular site. After that we continued on southward going to two NASCAR races on the way home, with one being in Bristol, TN and the other in Atlanta en-route home to Alabama.
In 2016, we travelled to the northeastern US visiting Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and a few other states as well. We had our wanderlust in tow as we travelled to New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and on into Newfoundland via the Marine Atlantic ferries. Our total trip was 58 days with 18 wonderful days "boondocking" in Newfoundland all the while listening to and visiting with the wonderful people of Newfoundland
In 2017 we traveled to Alaska spending over 60 days including coming and going to Alaska. We visited many places enroute to Alaska including Glacier, Yellowstone, and the Grand Teton National Parks. While coming back home we took time to visit Mount Ranier, the Grand Canyon, and Bryce Canyon National Parks.
We spend the last several winters in central Florida near Bushnell and last summer before last we stayed in Traverse City Michigan for almost two months. It was much cooler there!
Photography for me and cooking for my wife Patricia.
Anywhere in the US, Canada or Alaska with a little Europe thrown in for good measure.

We heard lots of travel experiences from this couple. Nice visitors. No problems at all.
A little late in this comment but just figured it out. Mike and Patricia were wonderful guests. Mike's enthusiasm and energy would be hard to duplicate! Patricia was so laid back you felt like she's been your friend for a long time. Courteous and full of southern hospitality even though we were hosting them. I hope we meet up again. We will definitely stop and see them anytime we go down to Alabama on our way to Gulf Shores. A real treat to follow them on their travel blog. Mike has an article and many pictures posted before he goes to bed each night. He is elaborate in his description of the days events. They are welcome here anytime! Thanks for the memories.
Enjoyed hosting Mike & Pat for 3 nights earlier this month. Other than the early evenings we spent visiting, hardly knew they were there. They're welcome back anytime
In our travels from PEI, Canada, to Mississippi in January, we always request a stay w/Bamaman, since he has such a nice site and is always so hospitable. The site is flat, and it is quiet, which we like. So glad he belongs to Boondockers Welcome.
BamaMan hosted our family in the beginning of December and they were fantastic hosts. Our little girls really took to them and were treated great. The yard is huge, so they had plenty of room to run (and crawl) around. We really liked swapping stories about traveling and our experiences. It was a great location, with plenty of great things to see in the area and the hosts were about as nice as can be. Hope we get to meet up with them again on the road.
I had a very pleasant stay with BamaMan! They are the sweetest Alabamans, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them. Their property is gorgeous, huge and quiet with all the amenities you need. Montgomery is very close and is a really cool town with interesting history. They are gracious hosts and even helped me fix a small issue with my RV, thought he'll claim he's not mechanical ;) I am thankful for a great and relaxing experience!
I appreciated being able to stay here while figuring out what to do about Irma. Great couple with a nice place to park. Thanks BamaMan!!!!!
We had an idyllic stay at BamaMan's place last night. We had a shady spot in a wide green lawn near a lovely creek. And a moonlit night added to the magic. Our host and his wife offered us an electrical hookup and even loaned us an adapter so we could take advantage of it. Once settled in, we had a wonderful time sharing RVing stories together for a couple of hours, including our hosts' exciting plans for their coming Alaska trip. Can't recommend them enough!
What a beautiful site, and the hosts are the best! We hope to see them again in the future!
Could not have wished for more friendly or helpful hosts. Spacious level area to set up. Only stayed 1 night, but would love to visit again! Thanks Bamaman
We spent two nights at BamaMan's place and we really enjoyed it. They were very kind and welcoming, we had some interesting conversations and Mike is always up for a laugh. We had fun, thanks guys!
Our hosts couldnt have been more welcoming! Just outside of Mongeomery, and pretty easy to get to! Wish we could have stayed longer! If ever through this way again I wouldn't hesitate to stop!
Had an excellent stay with BamaMan. Very easy parking spot with water, electric and great conversation. We were provided very good recommendations for things to do and see in Montgomery. Old Town Alabama is well worth the visit. The State Capitol and area around it is very impressive. Wish we could have stayed longer. I hope we meet again down the road.
Beautiful, friendly couple who warmly welcome you to their home. Close to downtown Prattville, and only 17 miles to historical Montgomery. Highly recommended for a peaceful place to rest up before continuing wherever you may be going.
We stayed with BamaMan for a night enroute to Gulf Shores. They were very prompt replying to our inquiries and most helpful upon arrival. Their home is in a wonderful location and we had a very peaceful night. We had a great time sharing camping experiences in the evening. We'll definitely stop over again if we are passing thru!
These are two of the nicest people you will meet. We had a wonderful stay.
We received a warm southern welcome on the beautiful property near Montgomery. Our host also gave us plenty of well received advices and even contacted a mechanic for us regarding an issue he noticed upon our arrival. This resulted in a useful repair the next morning. We highly recommend to pay them a visit when you are in the area or to welcome them at your place as they are a very interesting couple with quite some travel stories - thanks a lot for the stay!
When I emailed and asked about the possibility of staying here I was told to come ahead but the hosts had already made plans for that weekend and they wouldn't be there however we were welcome to stay. So, we told them that we would if they didn't mind, a couple of days later I get an email asking if it would bother us if they allowed another couple to stay also and we immediately responded that it was ok with us and we were looking forward to it. There was plenty of space for both of us and what a pleasure it was meeting the young couple from Australia. The hosts had to return home because a friend of theirs had unexpectedly passed away so we also got to meet them and the last night all 6 of us hung out on their back porch swapping stories. This is what boondocking is all about and we are proud to be members. Outstanding hosts since we go through this area every couple of years hopefully we can stay here again.
This lovely couple were so friendly and hospitable it felt like we were with family and had known them for years. They gave us plenty of information about rv-ing and were very helpful. They even took my kids for a spin around the yard on a lawn mower trailer. We had a wonderful stay and only wish we could have stayed longer.
This friendly and outgoing couple live up to the title of the song! They made us feel as if we were special relatives and had known us for all of our lives. Related many of their RVing experiences gave us useful tips for future use. They have a great set-up for almost any RV. Only wish we had more time to spend with them. Go out of your way to boondock with this wonderful couple!
We were passing through the Montgomery area and just needed an overnight. Hosts were absolutely wonderful and made sure we wanted for naught. Can't beat that southern hospitality! Easy in and easy out spot with water and electric hookups. We were invited to stay longer, and wish we could have. Great folks, great area. We will definitely be stopping in next time we are through! Thank you! Tom & Caitlin
We mailed, they were not home, but we were welcome and we stayed 3 nights, very nice and quiet place and we discovered Montgomery and Selma, very very impressive. We thank you for your hospitality and your confidence that we could stay on your place. It's a pity we don't meet you. Mia & Clemens
On our trip from PEI to Mississippi, we boondock 6 out of 7 spots. My wife 's favourite is BamaMan 's. It is quiet, peaceful, and near a lovely public library. BamaMan is recommended.
Bahamian was very welcoming. Their communication was great thoughout the booking and visiting stages. He entertained our young boys with a tractor ride. Their yard was spacious and flat. Thank you for your sufficient accommodation. We would definitely stay again.
We would like to offer a big positive recommendation to BamaMan for his generosity with staying at his home boondocking property. We've stayed there several times in our trip from Prince Edward Island Canada to the Gulf Coast in Mississippi. Now that he knows us, he offers his plug-in to us even when he's not there. It's a lovely, quiet place. 3 cheers to BamaMan!
We enjoyed our stay here in Prattville, a few miles out of Montgomery, Alabama. BamaMan were very welcoming and we enjoyed many discussions with them about the area and its history, also about the finer points of boondocking. It was a good base for touring the many Civil Rights historical sites in the area.
Mike and Trish were great hosts providing a lovely campsite in their beautiful backyard. We shared lots of rv travelling tips and tales. Highly recommended. Thanks so much Mike and Trish.
Mike and Pat a very gracious host. They set you up in there back yard and will provide water and electric. We went to church with them the next day and also out to lunch what fun to have a nice stay and feel like new friends when saying good bye. Thank you again mikepat. From Ski and Julie
We arrived in the rain, but Mike was waiting outside to see us on to the property and make us welcome. He came out later, umbrella in hand, to offer the password to their wi-fi. In the morning, a breakfast invitation. Very kind, generous Southern hospitality, and they have stories to share. Great people.
We are thankful to find Mike and Pat for a wonderful stay at their home. This was our first boon-docking experience and such a wonderful visit! They had a nice flat large yard to fit our 36' rig. So kind and helpful, we hope to see them again! Joining them for Sunday church was also a real treat. Merry Christmas Julie & Ski
After a long driving day it was refreshing to take walk around their property and visit about RV experiences. They furnished everything we needed. We certainly recommend them. Roger & Jan McCollough
We recently had the pleasure of staying with Mike and Pat, and their hospitality was incredible! They made sure we had everything we needed for the night, full hookups, pads for our camper jacks, and they had a wonderful creek out back where we could watch the sun set and throw rocks. Mike was sure to give us as many tips for directions and good boondocking spots before we left. If we ever come through again, which I'm sure we will, I will be sure to look up Mike and Pat again!
We did not stay with them..maybe on a future trip. Sounds like they have had some great adventures. We had tire troubles in Montgomery,AL. We limped into Sam's club after hours (easy access and quiet location off 85 E of town) and started researching tires for our class-c. I emailed BamaMan for local recommendations since he was the closest Boondockers host. I really appreciate his call back in the morning and getting some suggestions. D&B Pryor Waynesville, OH
