Goodness gracious how time flies. "alock123" and two friends stayed at my place for one night last month. I've been travelling ever since and haven't had a chance to comment ... so I will now. They arrived later in the evening and unfortunately only had the one day to explore and visit one of the greatest wonders of the world, Niagara Falls, Ontario before they headed off for more travels. Nonetheless I greeted them when they arrived and we said in my livingroom and chatted a bit. They told me a little about themselves and their plans to travel and explore North America. I provided them with some pamphlets and brochures and maps of the area before they retired for the night.

We chatted again in the morning before they left and I wished them well on their travels. A very pleasant and respectful trio and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them as guests.

Three young Australians touring the US in a VW Westfalia

This was our first experience hosting bookdockers.

This past Saturday we were quite surprised to hear (by e-mail) from Alex the Aussie who was touring North America with 2 companions in a well used Volkswagen Westfalia. They were in Brunswick ME and arrived Monday evening.

They are young (probably mid 20s), and had flown to British Columbia around the first part of April, purchased their vehicle there, and traveled east across Canada and the US border to Nova Scotia, Maine, and are currently headed south along the coast to the FL Keys, then across the south to the west coast, back up to BC, sell their vehicle, and return to Australia. This should take in the order of 4 months or so.

This encounter proved to be an unexpected treat, since L has seemingly gone from one surgery to another, and is just now beginning physical therapy on the fractured hip gig. So far this year out of the 12 BBQ judging’s we had scheduled, we managed to do a total of one. So this surprise visit by total strangers proved to be excellent medicine for us both. They toured Newport Tuesday then had their evening meal with us which included a good
bit of information exchange.

What a wonderful unexpected treat.
