I am a former magazine editor with lots of interests. My wife was a sales manager. We live on a small farm by Iowa standards and maintain a large yard. Woodworking, photography, old tractors are hobbies and Carolyn is a self-described "hosta-holic" and good cook. Lots of mature tress, shrubs and plants surround the farmstead. Both of us are fairly handy. For work and for pleasure have visited all 50 states, some numerous times. This also includes the opportunity to travel many countries of the world. Still enjoy travel and do so often. Family includes 3 adult children, 6 grandchildren, including two sets of twins. Our sons live in Iowa, daughter and family in NC. Life has been good. Happy to share stories.
Well equipped shop. Handy with variety of things.

This couple was an absolute delight to have as our first boondockers guest. We would gladly have them stay again at anytime.
We had the pleasure of hosting Lazyfarmer. Due to work schedules, we weren’t able to visit as much as we normally do. Self-sufficient and good communication from the road. Welcome back anytime. Maybe we can stop in and visit your place in the future.
Tis couple had a mission that turned out for them. Glad to have helped a little. They would be welcomed back.
Really short visit yet we were able to get in good conversation. I would really enjoy being a guest at their farm in Iowa. They certainly are welcome to come back anytime.
Great location, easy access. Beautiful piece of property for a walking, very pet friendly.
And most interesting host to talk with.
So wonderful and kind about our unforeseen travel plans. Thank you!!!
Our host and this quite and peaceful place made this overnight stay very pleasurable. There were two or three other rigs with us, but we didn't feel crowded. Internet signal was strong (T-Mobile). The host helped us back into place (thank-you!!), and as drove easily.
This was our first visit with Boondockers Welcome. We couldn't have been more pleased. Lazyfarmercamp had friendly, helpful hosts. They communicated with us often. Their place was easy to find, easy to park and perfect for a good night's sleep.
Setting was great the hosts are awesome! Good luck Saturday and thanks for the stay.
It was very pleasant to stay at lazyfarmercamp. Host very kind and caring . They make sure we have everything we need. We enjoyed talking with them very much. They tell us about farming in area as well as in their farm. Mr. monte show us some of his cute carpenter products which really cool. We was given some fresh tomatoes in their garden (yummy 😋). Host also show us a dump station at near by rest area which super helpful. There is very nice view of sunset from their farm. Only 17 min to downtown Des Moines. Super quite and peaceful . Thank you so so much Lazyfarmercamp for having us .
Lazyfarmercamp was just perfect! Excellent communications throughout, helpful, detailed, accurate directions. Close to Interstate. The site is level, gravelled, easy to back into with our 24foot trailer. We just loved chatting with our hosts and comparing travel experiences. Friendly, helpful and interesting! We left with a gift of a dozen eggs! So grateful for all! Wish we could have stayed longer.
This was a great place to stay. Very welcoming and helpful hosts and will plan to stay with them in the future as I plan to travel this way more. Easy to find and very convenient to the Interstate. Only wish was that we had more time to visit with them and compare travel stories. I find I learn much more from people person to person.
Thanks again Lazyfarmercamp!
Host was there to greet me and help me get situated with electricity and water in a nice shady spot!!! Quiet rural countryside afforded a comfortable peaceful stopover! Visited with hosts late into the evening talking about family and travels. More conversation with coffee in the AM before leaving to get to my next BW stay...Hoping they make a stop up in my neck of the woods if they are ever passing thru!!!
We’re so appreciate of lazyfarmercamp’s hospitality. We were due to arrive late in the Des Moines area and intended to stay at a rest area before coming at the hosts site in the morning. They so graciously invited us to stay that extra night (even though we arrived so late) so that we didn’t have to sleep at the rest area.
They really made us feel welcome and let our toddler and cats explore all over. Beautiful farm, garden, and great location. We really enjoyed talking to them and seeing the beautiful projects they are working on.
If we’re in the area again, we look forward to stopping by.
What a gem. The hosts were so friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful and peaceful.
Nice place to stay for a night. We had our 33 ft 5th wheel and were able to jocky in as needed. Right on edge of town, but we managed to drive by it a few times, when close give host a call, they will help you find it, address was on rock in yard, we just missed it.Very nice hosts.
Had a great and very welcoming overnight stay. These people are legends !
We stayed here for two nights and were sorry that we couldn’t stay longer because we had someplace to be. What gracious and welcoming hosts. Their place is so lovely and has the ‘step back in time’ feeling. The gardens, the farmhouse, the grain bin, the surrounding fields... we most enjoyed talking with Monte and hearing him share both his own history as well as the area history. It was delightful. And if you’re a cyclist be sure to bring along your bike and plan time to ride. There are great trails in the area.
Lazy farmer camp is a fabulous stay. And Monty and Carolyn are too. Convenient and close to 35W. This made for a perfect stay for us on our return home.
Easy to find, lots of space to pull in, and a welcoming host. We only stayed one night in the way through but we would definitely stay again.
Very welcoming and friendly couple. Beautiful, peaceful, and private setting. Great night's sleep. Thank you for your hospitality!
Very sweet small farm on the edge of town. It was our first Boondockers stay. Monte waved us in from the road and was friendly and helpful even though the weather was cold! Beautiful sunset over the corn field and a peaceful night’s rest. Our Covid Christmas vacation is off to a great start.
This is a beautiful place to camp on the farm. Level area. Good Verizon signal. Water and electricity. Kind and friendly hosts. Trail very close for walking or biking. We would stop here again!
I had a lovely stay! They were very helpful. Nice and quiet place to stay, which was just what I needed. There is a bike trail nearby to stretch your legs.
Thanks so much to Monte & Carolyn for their hospitality & interesting conversation. A wonderful, friendly place for a stop.
We enjoyed our stay at this quiet, convenient spot. Our hosts took very good care of us. With the first snowfall of the season, it was too cold to stay outside to visit. We travel this route at least yearly and look forward to staying here again!
Lazyfarmercamp is the definition of quiet and relaxing. Beautiful "farm in the country" setting. The morning dusting of snow just added to the charm. Our hosts were wonderful.
what a great and down home place to boondock. The hosts had several options for us and with a 44 ft rig, 61 feet with our tow vehicle, space is what we needed.
The views were spectacular. The bike trail near by was a great way to get exercise. The little towns around the area were awesome! De Moines wss not too far away.
The hosts were able to help us locate places to shower, dump, shop. So hospitable. You'll be glad you stopped here.
Our hosts were very helpful and friendly, and our overnight stay with them was perfect. 100% positive recommendation for these hosts.
We thoroughly our stay here. Our hosts were extremely helpful and gracious. We woke up hearing the birds sing. We would definitely stay here again when back this way.
These Hosts were wonderful, kind and friendly. Their beautiful farm was quiet and peaceful.
We enjoyed staying here so much. Thank you!
The owners were very helpful to get us situated. Loved the area with the big tree in the back to relax with the family. Good jokes with the husband too. Good times. Great for families.
Pulling our RV in lazarmercamp was like living in the movie "Field of Dreams." A peaceful oasis surrounded by tall corn stalks! Our hosts, lazy farmer were great. We couldn't have felt more welcome by anyone. The whole experiences was a dream that we'll always cherish!
Great hosts. Lovely evening. Would never hesitate to return. Our newest friends 😊
The hosts were very kind and welcoming. The location is convenient and easy to access. Level spot with electric (bring your adapter), nice for a good walk too. I enjoyed my stay and would be happy to visit again. :-)
We stayed with lazyfarmercamp on our first night of vacation. Due to prior commitments, we did not have a lot of time to spend with our hosts but were able to chat with them on the morning of our departure.
The space for our trailer was level with easy access to power and water.
We hope to be able to stay with them again sometime in the future in order to catch an ISU football game.
Such wonderful folks
The area was lovely - they provided electric and a very enjoyable spot
Lazyfarmercamp was our first Boondockers Welcome stay. Our hosts were great, their son was very helpful as well he lives across the street.
Anyone with a larger rig(ours is 40 Foot) make sure to give yourself extra time to park. Otherwise it was wonderful. They even left us with some veggies and fresh apple sauce!!
The hosts are interesting, friendly and engaging! We had an enjoyable evening on their deck and shared family and travel stories. Beautiful farm complete with a vintage tractor. Plus, there’s a bike path close by - worth the time for a morning ride. Easy to find and close to I35. Level spot with plenty of space to turn. We hope to return sometime!
From the moment we arrived lazyfarmers were certainly not lazy. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They even gave us fresh vegetables from their garden. We sat together on their deck and shared travel and family experiences. The location is quiet and beautiful with a level gravel area to park. We look forward to staying again someday.
When we travel, it's easy to get excited about the fabulous scenery and adventures. If you stop over at lazyfarmers, all the "little things" that are really important, you'll find. A kind engaging couple, a cup of coffee, and a safe place to stay. And if you're fortunate, maybe an ear of Iowa sweet corn!
The most friendly and gracious hosts. I was provided a lovely spot and electric hookup. After settling in, we sat on the deck and talked traveling. Wonderful experience!
Would love to stop by again 😃
