David here. I live in a very quiet community east of Fort Myers called Olga. Fantastic kayaking is right nearby and the back-roads are perfect for walking, roller-blading or biking. Born in Florida and returned for permanent residency in 1999. We have our 1972 vintage Airstream set up rather permanently, behind our comfortable but modest home. We travel in our Class B, Roadtrek. We enjoy meeting new people who enjoy and respect privacy, while being ready willing and able to carry on a lively conversation, if the need presents itself. We have a roomy, shady, place to "boon-dock" with; water and 30 amp power (RV plug). My carport will provide a shady place to work on a project if the need arises. There is a Winn Dixie, McDonalds, Wendy's, Subway Sandwich, Public Library, two banks and several other businesses, within easy bicycle commuting distance.
Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, cabinetry...
We travel in a Class B, Roadtrek, 190 Popular. We travel slow as possible, fast as necessary. Hate the Interstates and love the quiet back roads...
Stayed with David & Lucy for a couple of nights and we appreciated the services and the information on the surrounding area.
Prospective host accepted request for b/d for 3/15 - 3/16 (2015) on 2/24, but gave no location or contact information. Sent message requesting location and contact info on 3/01, but never received a reply. Lesson learned: on acceptance, a host should always provide requisite info, else you may be left hanging.
David and Lucy agreed to "trailer sit" my little 13' camper while I visited friends in a gated community where RVs aren't allowed beyond the guard house - even a very cute trailer like my Scotty. I called at the last minute when I discovered the restrictions; David was reassuring about having the space and instantly made me feel better. When I arrived they were so welcoming I immediately felt comfortable leaving "my home" in their care. I wished I'd had more time to find out about their travels and the things they'd seen - I sensed they had some great stories to tell. Many, many thanks to these wonderful people. Best wishes on your future travels. Polly
We stay 2 nights with David and Lucy under the banyan and all the tropical vegetation. They were very friendly and generous. Thanks
This was my second visit and a total of 5 days spent with Dave and Lucy. They are both welcoming and accommodating. Conversations around the fire pit were informative and heartwarming. A great place to enjoy the fruits of Florida or just have some peace in paradise. Barney sends his best.
I can hardly describe how delighted we were with both the hospitality and parking spot provided by this couple. We were offered electric and water which we declined so this meant we got to park in total privacy with our own tropical patio. They gave us plenty of private time but were also available for social time which we took full advantage of. Our parking spot included a fire pit, firewood, and fresh-from-the tree oranges or grapefruit for our breakfast. When they told us that we could launch our kayak nearby to paddle a creek (a hidden gem, reminiscent of "old Florida)," we simply couldn't say no to staying a third night. A simply wonderful experience.
This is one great guy. He wasn't even home but let us stay there anyway. We spoke several times on the phone but unfortunately never met face to face. We hope someday he will be able to visit us in Oregon. His place is in a great location, easy to find. Lovely cool shardy place in the yard after a day if travel.
