Susan comes from seafaring and pioneering ancestors; Paul from Quaker farmers and circuit-riding clergymen. Paul is a musicologist and retired computer programmer. Susan is a retired archaeologist, travel agent and tour guide. We both love history and the arts, discovering new friends, and sharing life with our family. We have deep roots in northern California along with many faraway friends and relatives. Susan travels more often than Paul, but our journeys together are invariably life-enriching. We are just beginning to explore the RV lifestyle. We bring music, creativity, and humor on our travels.
Susan is an avid birdwatcher and enjoys sharing glimpses of the wildlife that surrounds us. Paul composes and teaches music on the mountain dulcimer in a very accessible manner. He has introduced many non-musicians to the enjoyment of a level of music they thought was beyond their grasp. Although we are not performers, Paul's dulcimer and Susan's bowed psaltery travel with us and we're happy to share a tune.
We live with one sweet cat, who selected us as his new guardians from among the many neighbors he visited during his cat-about-town days. Previously, we lived with a beloved dog who spent his last years brightening our lives. That our pets love and trust us is perhaps the best endorsement of our character. Our cat prefers to stay home and entertain family members who house-sit or drop in to visit him.
As of spring, 2019, we are just starting out, but our favorite pre-RV road trips have included a music and architecture study tour in southern England (especially Salisbury and the Cotswolds); a jaunt all over Puerto Rico with several homestays; and exploring British Columbia (especially Victoria and up the coasts of Vancouver Island).
