My husband and I are nature lovers, love photography, and love to just take off when we get the time, not to often. We both enjoyed camping for most of our lives and decided that when we can, we will just get the RV and live on the road. We tried this out in our van 2 years ago, in 2010, when he lost his job. We did this for 3 months traveling from Pa down into Virginia. We loved it. Last summer, 2011, we were given a great opportunity to volunteer with ACE for the summer. We packed up our travel trailer and headed out to the Pa Grand Canyon Area. What a great experience.
We have less than 1 year and we can full-time. In the meantime, we just go for a weekend here and there, when we can. We even take off to NY in our van every chance we get.
You can see some of our journeys and photos here:
I love to cook. And I can do it on a tight budget... When traveling I use our campfire, 2 burner stove, an electric skillet, and a crock pot.
We haven't had the chance to boondock much, being on the East coast, there aren't many locations we've found. But we are new to this. We have stayed in Walmart's and such.
But as I find some, I will be sure to share them with you.
We have a 1971 Fleetwood Prowler that we had remodeled and painted. But most of our traveling this year was in our Chevy van. We don't spend lots of time inside and are always just on our way to see a park, hiking area, ect. so we parked the travel trailer for now. Looking forward to getting either a Class A or Class C next summer.
