Our home is on the Crow Wing River just west of Pillager Minnesota. We have room for a couple of RV's at a time for an over night stay. We have no sewer or dumping facilities since we are on a private septic system. We can arrange for water and electric hookup in summer if needed. The road to our home is blacktop so no dust to contend with. We invite travelers to call us for directions and space availability to park their RV in our back yard and enjoy their stay. We enjoy boon-docking when we travel too. Pets are welcome on leash as long as they are quiet and picked up after. This is a senior neighborhood so it is intended to be reserved and quiet.
Mike is a retired auto tech and is into old Thunderbirds. Kathy is an excellent cook. There is an outside fire grill on our back deck too.
A Sheltie named Lucky. He is very spoiled.
The mountains and Coyote Howls in southern Arizona. Onegume Federal Campground north of Deer River, Minnesota. Big Sandy Federal Campground north of McGregor, Minnesota. The second weekend of July we go to Iola, Wisconsin to the Old Cars Show and camp at Lake Emily near by.
Our home base is about 2 miles from Pillager, Minnesota on the Crow Wing River. We have a total of about 2 acres that front on the river. It is a quiet senior neighborhood that is off of the highway by about a mile as the crow flies. Generally it is quiet here. We travel a lot so much of the time campers have their own space. We ask that folks call ahead (218-829-7323) to let us know when they expect to arrive and we can let our security know someone will be near and about. I have given my cell phone and the only time that I may not answer is if we are camping out of the reach of service. Even if we are traveling, we can direct campers how to find our home base and exactly where to park and access electric.
We travel in our Chevy pickup that tows our 34 foot Jayco travel trailer that has two slides.
Our family of six with four young children had a lovely stay here. The hosts were very accommodating and pleasant to chat with. The yard we parked on was flat and dry and very spacious. We had no trouble hooking up to the 30 amp outlet. It was necessary for us back our 36 foot travel trailer in from the road Through a fairly narrow gate, but with the host’s guidance, it ended up being a simple task. We never did figure out how to hook up to the Wi-Fi here, but that wasn’t a big deal either, since our AT&T data was plentiful and quick. The view of the river behind their home was very beautiful. We would most certainly consider staying here again.
Really nice property trucked in a neighborhood on the lake. Very nice people, AT&T works good and the host supplied 30 amp power. We will come back if ever in the area again.
T-Bird Lover(s) are absolutely wonderful hosts. We felt so lucky to have power hookups while staying up here, and they're two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. We'll definitely be back!
Location was easy to find. Large, level, grassy area to park on with 30 amp service between road and garage . Water was available but too far to each with our drinking water hose. We had enough water on board to just make it and availed ourselves to their water spigot to fill jugs for drinking water. Nights were quiet and peaceful with an occasional train in the distance. Hosts were friendly and made us feel especially welcome with a plate of delicious cookies. Tucson our Sheltie-mix was welcomed by their beautiful Sheltie, Lucky.
We will be back again when in the area and highly recommend.
I'll be honest, when we drove in between the giant Trump 2020 flags on the driveway and were greeted by the host sporting a red MAGA hat I was worried we would get an earful of political opinions, but that wasn't the case at all. T-Bird and his wife were very friendly and accommodating, always had a big smile, and we enjoyed being right on Lake Placid. We kayaked around and had a lot of friendly "hi's" from others out on boats. This back yard spot is almost perfect for a boondockers spot - nice, flat, well maintained grassy area with 30 amp power, enough privacy as there is a garage between the main home and this area, and a view out to the lakeside. The grassy area was perfect for our dog to run around in, with enough space for me to chuck a ball pretty far. Top ten on my list and I would go back! Thanks T-Bird!
Very beautiful, quiet, and private location next to Lake Placid Minnesota. Our hosts were ready and available to help when we arrived. The problem with my hitch was fixed by our hosts massive vice that he allowed me to use. Thanks for everything. N+S
I was so pleased to be accepted on a last-minute request to stay at T-Bird Lovers property. Not only was it a beautiful property sitting right on Lake Placid but the hosts were out of town and trusting enough to let me stay there without them. I liked it so much I asked if I could stay an extra night and they said yes. They were also very generous in allowing their guests the use of their electrical outlet. A peaceful respite for us wanderers. I would definitely stay there again, hopefully next time to meet them!
30 amp service, plenty of parking space. 5 bars ATT service. Surrounded by trees in a nice retirement community on the lake.
Communication with T-Bird lover was great we found out that we potentially have a great future spot for them When they come our way and we’re really looking forward to get to meet them.
What such wonderful people to get to know. We had a great time at T-Bird Lover’s host location. The site is easy to find and get into. It provides a 20 Amp hookup and available water. We did not need to use either but they did offer. Nights were quiet and peaceful.
Our Hosts were very personable and made us feel welcome immediately.
We will request again when in the area and highly recommend
Enjoyed the stay, conversations, and the cookies. Looking forward to a return visit.
We had a great stay with T-Bird Lover.
The site was easy to find and get in to. Level with 20 Amp electric service offered. Our host were very gracious and made sure we were situated.
We very highly recommend and will request another stay when in the area.
We had a great time at T-Bird Lover’s host location. The site is easy to find and get into. It provides a 20 Amp hookup and available water. The small town provides options for gas/diesel and eating. Shopping malls and major services are only 10 easy miles away. Nights were quiet. The town is on a major rail line but was not an issue.
Our Hosts were very personable and made us feel welcome immediately.
We will request again when in the area and highly recommend.
Lovely location and a welcoming couple. Stayed two nights in their peaceful backyard so we could get our windshield replaced at a local business. - Thank you.
A very warm welcome from our hosts, quiet scenic location by the lake, and some interesting conversations. I learned a lot about my RV...
The best of boondocking...
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful location on the river. The site is level and easily accessible! Our hosts shared fabulous travel information to the Lake Superior area that enhanced our travel experience. Nice to learn about T-Birds and Shelties during our time with the hosts. Highly recommend this location.
We really loved our stay with Mike & Kathie. Their home is beautiful and welcoming and our baby and dogs had a great time. Thank you again for your hospitality.
Jessica & Jimmy
I stayed with Bird Lover and his wife on the second week of my travels across the country and am so appreciative of them. They were truly gracious hosts and had plenty of room for my RV. It was very cold durng my stay so I was not able to get out much but they have a great lake view. When we were able to chat it was a fun discussion and they gave me a lot of advice on what routes to take on my adventure. I am glad I got to meet them when utilizing this site for the first time. I would definitely stay again, if not to just say hello!
A very nice place. It was level, grassey, and a very easy electrical hook up.
Staying with the T-bird Lovers was a great experience! They greeted us when we arrived, and were so gracious. They pointed to the very large grassy area in front of his workshop and said we were welcome to park anywhere we’d like. He had a power pole there and offered us power right away so we could run our AC if it got too hot. The area was very private, with a lovely view of the pines that lined the driveway. She and I walked our dogs together and enjoyed tea and conversation. We spent our final afternoon with them chatting and getting to know each other. They are lovely people, and we would stay with them again any time!
T-Bird Lover was a great host. Great location not far from Brainerd, which has all the stores you would ever need. We had a nice level, grassy spot to park in for our one night stop. T-Bird Lover was very friendly and we swapped some travel resources. He gave us some great travel tips of where to go as we head north. Recommended stop for sure! Thank you!
