Our home is on the Crow Wing River just west of Pillager Minnesota. We have room for a couple of RV's at a time for an over night stay. We have no sewer or dumping facilities since we are on a private septic system. We can arrange for water and electric hookup in summer if needed. The road to our home is blacktop so no dust to contend with. We invite travelers to call us for directions and space availability to park their RV in our back yard and enjoy their stay. We enjoy boon-docking when we travel too. Pets are welcome on leash as long as they are quiet and picked up after. This is a senior neighborhood so it is intended to be reserved and quiet.
Mike is a retired auto tech and is into old Thunderbirds. Kathy is an excellent cook. There is an outside fire grill on our back deck too.
We have two Shelties.
The mountains and Coyote Howls in southern Arizona. Onegume Federal Campground north of Deer River, Minnesota. Big Sandy Federal Campground north of McGregor, Minnesota. The second weekend of July we go to Iola, Wisconsin to the Old Cars Show and camp at Lake Emily near by.
Our home base is about 2 miles from Pillager, Minnesota on the Crow Wing River. We have a total of about 2 acres that front on the river. It is a quiet senior neighborhood that is off of the highway by about a mile as the crow flies. Generally it is quiet here. We travel a lot so much of the time campers have their own space. We ask that folks call ahead (218-829-7323) to let us know when they expect to arrive and we can alert our security know someone will be near and about. I have given my cell phone and the only time that I may not answer is if we are camping out of the reach of service. Even if we are traveling, we can direct campers how to find our home base and exactly where to park and access electric.
We travel in our Chevy pickup that tows our 34 foot Jayco travel trailer that has two slides.
Staying with the T-bird Lovers was a great experience! They greeted us when we arrived, and were so gracious. They pointed to the very large grassy area in front of his workshop and said we were welcome to park anywhere we’d like. He had a power pole there and offered us power right away so we could run our AC if it got too hot. The area was very private, with a lovely view of the pines that lined the driveway. She and I walked our dogs together and enjoyed tea and conversation. We spent our final afternoon with them chatting and getting to know each other. They are lovely people, and we would stay with them again any time!
T-Bird Lover was a great host. Great location not far from Brainerd, which has all the stores you would ever need. We had a nice level, grassy spot to park in for our one night stop. T-Bird Lover was very friendly and we swapped some travel resources. He gave us some great travel tips of where to go as we head north. Recommended stop for sure! Thank you!
