Both of us are retired Military, living in Colorado. Love nature, hiking, rockhounding and exploring the country. I am an artist, crafter and we live in a beautiful and relatively untouched ranching community in a high mountain valley in southeastern Colorado. We have room for one small RV, up to 25 ft. We are highly involved with our local community of Westcliffe. Every year there are fairs, rodeos, music festivals(especially Bluegrass) art festivals and many other activities to enjoy locally. People in this valley are extremely friendly, and supportive of each other. This feeling of going back to the past is why we came here. Mountain views are spectacular! And well worth a visit. We hope to make a trip to Alaska in the next 2 years, and have visited up to Newfoundland and Labrador, taking the Trans-Labrador highway back through Labrador and Quebec, and into the States. We've also done extensive traveling through Alberta and their beautiful parks, as well as Ontario and the north shores of the Great Lakes region. Many memorable trips!

Skills & Expertise to Share

I'm a painter and fabric artist, as well as an avid beader. I hope to eventually explore silverwork. My husband is a gardener, and enjoys exploring with his ATV. We both enjoy target shooting, but are not hunters, although there is a lot of local wildlife, including bears, bobcats, elk, deer, coyotes, and our local mountain lion. No hunting is allowed.

Favorite Boondocking Locations

We love the Southwest, and do as much exploring and traveling as we can. Favorite places are the 4-corners region, north rim of the Grand Canyon, medicine wheel in Wyoming, the Beartooth Highway and surrounding areas of Montana and Many, many places in New Mexico. We frequently stay in Forest Service campgrounds, as they are low, or no cost, and usually well off the beaten path.

ConiKat's Rig

24 ft. Born Free cabover and/or 20 ft Chevy Sportsmobile. Sometimes take both, as the Sporty is narrower than the larger rig and can fit down very narrow roads. Ran into this issue in several Death Valley locations. No slideouts on either vehicle. The Born Free is a small class C, the Sportsmobile is a class B van. Both are fairly narrow, especially the Sporty.
