Do you know or have you hosted this user?

My wife and I both have public education backgrounds: she is a middle school STEM teacher, and I taught high school English for nearly two decades. Now I work as an education consultant for a non-profit dedicated to supporting public schools: families, students, teachers and administrators.

Skills & Expertise to Share

We can provide insight on local hiking trails, places to paddle your canoe or kayak, and the Paul Bunyan bike trail.
We also love talking small travel trailers, trading places to camp and camping hacks!
Susan may point out local bird species for you.
Miss Ginger's best skill may be "sit," "stay," or "shake," and she will proudly show them off.
Both Susan and I work in STEM in education, so can help out with some app/website questions.

AJLind's Pets

We have 2 cats, 1 dog, and an aquarium currently hosting freshwater shrimp and fish. Our dog, Ginger, occasionally travels with us. She is obedience-course trained and well-behaved, and always on leash when we are traveling. If she is accompanying us on a trip, we would let a host know when requesting to stay.

Favorite Boondocking Locations

We are new to boondocking, but our favorite place is with a host we met in Ottawa, ON, Canada, who completely helped us out as rookies with our brand new trailer. We recently also Boondocked near MN's Superior North Shore - that was lovely!

We are also hosts on Warmshowers.com, so there are occasionally touring cyclists pedaling through, as we are on a major Mississippi River north south route as well as an east-west cross country route. So we are in a sense hopefully somebody else's favorite spot.

AJLind's Hometown

When we are not traveling, home is the Gull Lake region of north central Minnesota. You can hear the loons calling from the lake across the road from our yard on most summer nights.

AJLind's Rig

Rig Type: Travel Trailer

17 feet long

We have a 2019 model (picked up in July 2018) Safari Condo Alto F1743 ultralight trailer. The Alto is equipped with solar panels and the caravan mover, so we are pretty autonomous and can manuever into tight spots if needed. We tow it with our Toyota Sienna minivan. The minivan doesn't have SUV type clearance, so it is best on harder surfaces like gravel, concrete or asphalt, or solid earth/short grass.

AJLind's Travel Preferences

Nice couple!

We had some Sunday morning deck/patio time with them and enjoyed our conversation. It was a short stay but we enjoyed their visit.
