We love to visit the different parts in the US and Canada. We especially enjoy the less populated areas.
We like to cook but don't know about how amazing it is!
We do have a dog and cats but they do not travel with us.
Florida, Texas, Arizona
Douglas, WY
Our rig is a 2007 Class B Leisure Travel Van (looks like a FedEx delivery van).
Unfortunately they stay with us only one night. They are both great people. They are welcome home anytime. Hope to see them in the near future.
Ray and Lois are some of the best people we have met. While they were here we ate seafood at Joe's Crab Shack, watched the Super Bowl and swapped a lot of stories. Look forward to seeing them in the future.
Ray and Lois stayed with us for the weekend and were the best of guests. This is exactly what we hoped for with "Boondockers Welcome" and hope for more guests just like them. Great folks and now new friends. They are welcome back any time and we wish them the best. They took up very little space or time and have a smaller but beautiful rig.
Thanks for staying with us and we hope you come back next time you are in Iowa.
Reed & Holly
If you like cats, this is your place. Lovely couple and so generous, inviting me in for dinner with them and wide-ranging conversation. If you're allergic to cats, best not to stay at Jackalopes. As a cat lover, I was in heaven! Three of the cats were friendly, and another couple of dozen were barn cats and wouldn't let me get close. Extremely hospitable hosts and they even had power for my rig.
Our stay was way too short. We were on our way to a family reunion in the Black Hills. Jackalopes' property was a perfect place to stay prior the the Hills. Beautiful setting among the cottonwoods. Hosts were most welcoming and helped us get settled. If we'd had more time we would loved to have visited more. We look forward to doing so on another trip. And hopefully soon. Highly recommended.
We stayed 1 night with the Jackalopes on Aug 22. We were able to back our 19 ft trailer back into a nice shady spot with access to an electrical hookup. It is very quiet and the surrounding mountains were very beautiful. Our hosts were super friendly and introduced us to their wonderful pets including a dog named Wilma and several cats. We chatted in the evening on their front porch about many interesting topics. We would recommend staying if you like peace and quiet and friendly hosts like we do.
Jackalope’s were wonderful host! They offered dinner and it was wonderful! Their company while we ate was very enjoyable. They were very helpful with instructions before and after our stay. Their house is in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. It was quiet and beautiful. We would highly recommend them.
Jackalopes,
Thank you for getting back w me by phone when you were out of town w/o internet access.
I have enjoyed the last 2 nights (4 total) at your location!
NYTEX
The Jackalopes couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating; nice grassey, tree-shaded area to park with 30 amp service. The hard ground under the lush lawn is Not used by the cats and there were fewer flies than what we usually experience in campgrounds.I’m stressing this fact because of a previous questionable post.
We spent 3 days with Jackalopesover the 4th of July, helped with chores, was invited to dinner. In the evening joined with their friends in town to watch the longest and best fireworks for a small town ever!
My wife loved their beautiful home filled with family heirlooms and crafts. We will return!
I visited the Jackalops for "only" 2 nights, but these Hosts touched my heart in several ways. Their friendship was unlimited & very gracious. I enjoyed lots of good conversation & even 2 delicious meals, except the homemade "salt" style coleslaw which was very different, LOL!
The Walleye fried fish breakfast was prepared excellent, I returned for seconds. Lol!
They even took me for a drive to the nearby NATURAL BRIDGE PARK which is a "must-see".
And to the Douglas "Riverside Park" to show me where the towns FREE "dump station" & "potable water" spicket, which conveniently located on the corner of Grant St & W. Yellowstone Hwy @ 300 W. Grant St. Near the corner conveniently located on the left side near the left entrance to the park.
We all enjoyed Mrs Jackalope being stoped by the local friendly Sheriff Deputy. Lol!
YES! I will definitely stop the next time that I am within 200 miles.
The host was very friendly and welcoming. Good spot. Other than a lot of poop on the ground at the site which meant a lot of flies.
I had a wonderful stay at Jackalopes' location. They invited me for dinner and i met their son, daughter and grandchildren. We had a very interesting conversation and the dinner was lovely. Thank you so much!
Thank you for your hospitality! It was our first boondocking stay. It was a short overnight stay and we arrived a bit late due to vehicle issues! But we had no difficulty finding it and our hosts we wonderful!
I knew it was going to be a great stay when I wasn't even parked 5 minutes and Lois asked me in true Midwest style if I had eaten dinner yet and invited my Beagle and I into their home! The spot is quiet and level and lots of deer - and kitties to entertain you! I would definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful stay and friendly conversation with Ray & Lois. They invited us in for refreshments and some of her home cooked pastries. Their dog really loved the pork chop bones we brought her from our dinner at The Depot. Enjoyed all the cats and kittens. It was a nice quiet place and we slept soundly. We felt like we were right among the mid-west folks we grew up with. We would highly recommend staying at their home and wish them well on any travels they may venture into in the future.
Well, actually a lot larger than a 1/2 acre! LOL the jackalopes were amazing hosts and made us feel at home. Even invited us into their home for dinner. It was a pleasure sitting around talking and visiting for several hours. I would highly recommend this location for anyone looking for an amazing place to spend a night. I will certainly be looking forward to visiting with him at some point in the future our sincere thanks. Travis
Jackalopes were so incredibly kind and fun to spend time with. We shared a meal and lovely conversation. The space for our rig was great... easy to park, quiet and beautiful! We will definitely return!
We arrived late and Ray and Lois came to Douglas to pick us up.
Lois had been baking bread that she offered to all of us : they were just delicious Lois !
And she also offered crochet R2D2 and Princess Leia (Star wars figurines) to Margaux and Emy.
We had such a great first experience boondocking !
We cannot thank you enough.
Best wishes from the French TANGUY family.
Had a wonderful overnight stay with the Jackalopes - Lois and Ray. They were as nice and hospitable as they could be and very enjoyable to talk to as we chatted well into the evening. Setting was quiet, in the country. I would definitely ask to boondock there again if I am in the area.
We stayed there during the total eclipse. Great hosts and learned a lot about the local area and surrounding tourist attractions. Would highly recommend this location and hope to visit here again.
I had the great fortune of Boondocking with the Jackalopes for 3 days in June 2017. Wonderful, kind couple!!! I enjoyed chatting with them and seeing their garden, farm and pets. The location is great for day trips. Weather was wonderful. Quiet, breezy evenings. parking was on pavement and very level.
Hope to see you in Texas soon. :)
Talking till 1am and again for hours the next morning tells you what a great time we had. And the hospitality was wonderful with power and a terrific brunch. The neighbours and police were just as concerned for my welfare after I spent some time photographing flowers on the ground when out for a morning walk! Thanks guys. Hope to see you in Australia
This was a great stop. They let us stay for a couple nights. We stayed in our 36' motorhome on their property (the biggest they've had there) and was graciously offered electricity and access to their WiFi!
They took us in like family, and we have no doubt that we'd ask to stay here again the next time we are in the area!
Thoroughly enjoyed spending a night with these terrific folks and their 9 year old spaniel, Wilma! As others say below, the site is great, level and electricity too! Felt completely safe as a single woman. Hoping to see them again, either at my site or on the road!
I highly recommend the Jackalopes for a boondocking experience! We stayed one night in May 2015 at their location and had a wonderful time. The site is secure, quiet and level. They allowed us to hook up to electricity. We had a fantastic time talking and sharing a meal together. Felt like we had known each other for years!
On my return to Santa Fe from Rapid City, SD, I was warmly welcomed by Lois & Ray and spent a secure night on their lovely property.
My first time in Wyoming is an everlasing memory.
