Larry is retired and is passionate about hiking, snowmobiling, ATV'ing and boating. Kim is semi-retired and loves kayaking, boating, biking, nature, and photographing sunsets and sunrises. We have graduated from tent, to pop up camper and now to our first motorhome. We are looking forward to this new adventure.
We can direct you to all sorts activities and points of interest in our location. This is a vacation destination area with lots to do, but is not your typical commercialized area, very low key.
Larry is a trail guide, general handyman and has tools, if needed.
We have an extremely friendly Golden Retriever named Tanner who is more interested in people than other pets. He shares our home with Steve, our 6 yo rescue pup who is a mixed breed and an old soul. Newest adoption is Freddie, a cute and friendly Maltese. Our 2 cats, Phineas and Coco are house cats. I doubt they will ever travel with us.
Note: If you visit us, our dogs are house pets but when we go for a walk, at least Tanner is off leash. In other words, we won't tie our dogs up if you are visiting...they will most likely come over and say hello.
We enjoy the solitude of being "upnorth" in Wisconsin which is filled with lakes for boating and fishing along with trails for hiking, ATV'ing and snowmobiling. We are in the heart of the Nicolet National Forest, with abundant hiking trails nearby. Our road sees minimal traffic, normal vehicle traffic is less than 1 per hour. The town of Townsend is small but has the conveniences of restaurants, gas station, hardware store, grocery store 5 miles away.
B+ Motor home, Forest River Forester 2371, 26' long, 1 slide. Ford Transit chassis, a bit smaller than a full size class C.
We met these folks after their arrival, chatted with them. We would host them again and like to get to know them better.
Another great couple that we hosted. We didn't have a whole lot of time to connect but the time we did have together was very interesting!!! Beings this was their first longer outing with their new camper, we talked about what we "old timers" do to make traveling more interesting and easy. Shared lots of iris rhizomes with them...so happy planting upon your return home.
Loved their two pets..."Steve" the grey dog was our favorite!! Happy traveling!
We enjoyed the conversation and the camping tips. Enjoyed your place in the woods.
The drive getting there was breathtaking. Greenery and vegetation all over the place. We're in a 33 footer and had no problem getting in or out. The hosts were kind and relaxed. Saw some wildlife and even a tree frog. We look forward to stopping here again some day. :)
Communication with the host was very easy. If you have a larger travel trailer may have a little trouble getting in the spot but with a smaller one pretty easy. The host were not going to be home when we arrived told us where to park and helped us with hook ups 30amp and H2O when they arrived. There is a good road with very little traffic to get in your morning walks. The host told us of some places to ride our dual sport and there are a lot of small lakes to view, enjoyed the ride very much. Cell service was limited but still able to talk and text not able to use a hot spot.
Thanks, very much Monroe
Thanks to Larry and Kim for a quiet stay. Friendly and helpful hosts. Beautiful property and friendly dogs. Larry was very helpful offering us electric. Kim was at work so we didn't meet until the morning we left. Highly recommend this
Boondockers Welcome host!
PineTreein the Nicolet was a great host. He offered electricity which I accepted. The site is very quiet and peaceful. Would not mind staying here again if I was on vacation instead of working.
Like being in the woods of a national park. Great people and recommend staying here. There dogs are very friendly also.
We had such a peaceful stay and great fellowship with our hosts. They were very accommodating and helpful in getting us settled in. The directions for finding it very good.
Very nice people. We talked about all kind of things. We had a very good stay!
Was able to adventure on a few of the Nicolet National forest lakes and trails while staying. Hosts provided info of the area and had firewood available. Delightful hosts and experience.
