Brent and I have spent our adult lives raising our kids, working and packing the weekend with outside adventures. After being inspired by a YouTube video about a couple who lived & traveled in their van, we decided we wanted to give it a try. It has taken us three years to find, build and finance our year...which we call our gap year! We are going to go from coast to coast in Canada and then head down to the US to check out some national parks. We are grateful to have this opportunity to meet new people, learn some things out on the road and look for adventure!

No pets (just a lovely cat who is hanging out with her new temporary family).
We live in a gorgeous town on Vancouver Island called Campbell River, BC. Our town has about 30,000 residents and is mainly a resource based economy. For anyone who loves the outdoors, this is a great place. You can ski in the morning, go for a run in the forest and then kayak in the evening (if you still have enough energy...have a fire down at the beach watching the cruise ships go by). Home is where our hearts are but we are very excited to check out some new spots.

First home made camper we have had stop in. Wow what a wonderful job they did. From the outside you would never know this did not come from a major manufacturer. The inside was even nicer!!
To top it off the couple was as nice as their camper!! Very glad they alowed us to host them. With any luck we will meet them again on the road. Enjoy your adventure!!
We really enjoyed meeting this couple and admire their sense of adventure. Their camper is a work of art, outfitted entirely by them. We wish them well in their travel quest and hope their route brings a return visit to our home. We have so many more questions for them.
It was wonderful to have Gapyear overnight and hear about their roadtrip. Glad that we could share our property with them.
We enjoyed Gapyear’s visit on their major trip east. Great guests, neat creative van, good conversations.
Gapyear have our recommendation as excellent Boondocker guests and are welcome back any time.
Thank you Gapyear for a lovely visit. It was our pleasure to host you. You were absolutely no trouble at all and we wish you the most amazing adventure ahead! Nicole and Mark
Last of the three groups to arrive a couple of days ago. Beautiful custom designed van and such pleasant people. You are welcome to stop in any time, perhaps on your way back home. Cheers!
Easy couple to have around so self sufficient and easy going, making the most of their year off. Very interesting to visit with and enjoyable company.
Welcome back anytime.
Enjoyed meeting Brent and Erin. Exciting to hear about their gap year preparations and trip thus far. Looking forward to following their adventure. Excellent guests. Would welcome them again.
I wasn't able to visit with them due to my schedule. However they were a great couple to have at my place, and I would host them again any time.
Brent and Erin were great guests. We had the pleasure of hosting them for 2 nights near the start of their year-long adventure. Easy to chat with: we had an enjoyable evening around a campfire one night.
