retired banker, workamping in summer months. Have made nine
cross country trips. My husband and I had planned to travel after I retired, but he passed away in 2009, and I am determined to carry on. Live in Reno, have an adult daughter who lives in and maintains my 1/3 acre property just south of Reno and 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe. Reno, NV, is a well kept secret, with stunning beauty and no shortage of activities. Just four hours too from San Francisco Bay area.
Personally, I love birding, cooking, asphalt cruising, jetskiing, sailing, football and wine. I love being retired, but cannot sit still, so I look for reasons to travel the country. I love wine, and often utilize Harvest Host as well.
Birding, cooking, drinking wine!
I have two. Dogs, but they do not travel with me.
Harvest Host sites. Also stay in state parks when possible. Have also taken advantage of several fellow boondockers' hospitality.
25 ft. Winnebago View, 2007, Class C. One slide out, not absolutely necessary for a boondock. I do not tow a vehicle, as this one goes almost anywhere with ease. I do not travel far in winter.
We hosted this traveler for 1 night to rest and relax.
Had a wonderful visit from Skibabe1- enjoyed getting to know her. She's welcome back anytime!
Thanks for having us! A great location, especially to get to the ski resorts
we found skibabe1 to be a great hostess who kept the communication going - was very helpful with things to see near by and was very welcoming
We stayed for a night last week and were greeted by skibabe1's daughter, who was super nice and helpful in recommending trails near Lake Tahoe. It was really easy to find, park and get hooked up. All around great stay!
Thanks again, ecspecially on late notice. I would def recommend. Two thumbs up!
Thanks so much for a great over night stay near Reno. Your daughter was most friendly & very helpful! Great oasis from the fast paced city. A quiet & comfortable stay with power, water and wifi! Thanks again for your gracious hospitality! David & Linda
Great host even if we dont meet her as she wsd traveling but she allow us to stay at her place. Very warm contact by phone, she offers to us facilities (wifi,electricity...). We met her son who is also a very nice person! Thanks again for this quiet and restful night.
We enjoy our stay. Our host made all the commodities available for us. Thank you very much The french family
We were welcomed by Christina, Cathy's daughter. Cathy was 'on-the road' also. We were quickly set up and barbecuing our brats right on her driveway! It was a super quiet location and fit our slide-in camper on our pick up. If we'd had anything longer, it would have been a challenge. I can tell you this is located in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood very convenient to all Reno has to offer. We were quickly given the wifi password...which worked well. Also, Christina showed us where the water hose was located (very close) and the 30-amp electric plug-in...a real bonus. We would definitely stay here again. Cathy...if you get over to Colorado at any point, we would be happy to host you at our location. Thank you to Cathy and Christina for their wonderful hospitality. Dex and Carol Lawson
A nice, flat, spacious, concrete driveway that was easy to find and back into. Very quiet, especially for a Friday. Having a 30amp hookup was a bonus. Thanks.
Cathy and her daughter made our brief stay in Reno memorable. We were invited into Cathy's comfortable home, and in no time we were served a great meal, which was welcome after a long tough slog on Highway 50, (The Loneliest Highway in the U.S.). We had a great evening of lively conversation. Cathy made room for our rig in her driveway, and allowed us to hook up to her 30 Amp service. Thanks for your kindness Cathy. Erwin and Linda
We went to stay with Cathy earlier this month, only intending one night but it rained all the next day so we settled ourselves on her drive for another peaceful night. We shared a bottle of wine with her, her daughter Christina and friend Patti (?), great conversation, good reccommendations and she even gave us delicious frittatta cupcakes for our breakfast. Thanks for the wifi as well, and I forgot to say, Cathy moved her own RV to let us hook up!
========== We stayed for two nights in their large driveway and it was a great accomodation. Large area outside the front door side for lawn chairs, etc. but when we were there (4th of July 2013), it was hot, Hot, HOT! So we were VERY grateful for her 30 amp outlet on the side of the garage which allowed us to run the AC with no issues. They also had a water hose in front for topping off water. AND wifi access (sending that key kit back to you today). Cathy and Christina made our stay very worthwhile. We had to leave early but it was no reflection on them! There is a convenience store right by the roundabout you drive through to get to the house and propane is nearby too . . . just stop for directions at the first RV park. ========== JIM PETERSON <sail4free> ==========
