We love all things outdoors! Hiking, skiing, biking, but not into fishing. We both love to travel and meet new people. Hubby is a homebrewer, so there's usually a bevvy of awesome and tasty brews available at our house.
I like to fix things! We had a home repair business for 10+ years here in Salida, did lots of plumbing and electrical, and just about anything else that came our way. We're pretty handy when it comes to figuring out what's wrong with something that's not working correctly. And Trish is a Master Composter. :) Worms in the basement eating our kitchen food scraps. Doug is a master homebrewer, best homebrew in the county, maybe even the state!
One 9 year-old male cat, who dislikes dogs so much, he chases them! Rather unfortunate, as we love dogs and have many friends who bring their dogs when they come visit. If you have a dog, you're of course welcome to stay at our place. It just means we both have to do what we can to minimize cat/dog interaction. And we've gotten pretty good at that!
All places of beauty, especially places where we haven't been yet.
Our rig is small, 2002 PleasureWay Excel.
It's always nice to run into someone else with a Class B similar to ours. We hit it off nicely, and are hoping they can return the hosting one day when we travel through Colorado. Welcome back here anytime!
Meeting these two was like we were old friends. Very pleasant couple. Shared a lot of traveling stories. Come see us again!
It was absolutely wonderful meeting these boondocker guests!! There are some folks you meet in life who instantly feel like you've known them for years or who make you smile the moment you see them. Trish and Doug are those sort of folks and I am grateful for the absolute pleasure it was to host them for a night. I only wish they had more time to spend in Tucson! Turns out we had lots in common and therefore more tips and experiences than time to share with one another :) Welcome back anytime!
Very easy to get to, semi rural and yet only a few minutes to town. Lots of things to do in the area.
The hosts have to-die-for views of the Rocky Mountains from the patio and backyard.
And speaking of the hosts, you couldn’t ask for a nicer and friendlier couple! They made me feel so welcome right from the start. Thank you guys again for your hospitality!
Incredible hosts! They were actually out-of-town, but kind enough to let me stay. Very responsive and easy/thorough instructions. Beautiful property and beautiful views of the mountains, which basically surround you on all sides. I’ll defiantly be back soon and hopefully meet them in person.
Piutedrive are outstanding hosts, their bio is spot on, knowledge of the town eases uncertainty, and are a pleasure to get to know. Basically, they epitomize what BW Hosts should strive to become.
piutedrive are simply the best, truly reminding us that people are good. they welcomed me with home made beer, great stories, and warm conversation. they are above and beyond gracious, kind people. they rock.
Our family was lucky enough to stay at Arkansas River Valley for a couple of nights. We found the company to be more than welcoming and our only regret was not staying longer! The hosts allowed us to take up almost their entire driveway with our 5th wheel and welcomed us onto their property with some super views to the West. We enjoyed sharing homebrews and some hot soup on a cold evening in the garage! We hope to see them again again someday. Thanks!
Dear host, take care of us like my own family. Their house is located on a high place in Banpo. You can see the sunset in the backyard. The town of Salina is really beautiful and worth exploring. Doug is an excellent one Master brewer, I tasted his beer very happily. It is the best beer I have ever had. I am very grateful to their husband and wife. We will become very good friends.
Loved this stay with a couple with a wealth of knowledge for the area. Parked in driveway for 2 nights. Shared conversation on boondocking/ composting and beer making by a campfire. Absolutely will be back! Fantastic scenery!
Incredible mountain views, beautiful sunset, and great hosts. Amazed at how quiet it was. I hope to return in the future sometime and sample the homebrew beer!
What a great stay. Boy did we love getting to know our hosts and what a great spot to explore Salida. The hosts were super gracious and fun to chat with over a beer. Hope we meet again!
This was our first BW experience, and we couldn't be happier... Except that we didn't have the opportunity to meet our hosts, as they were out enjoying their own RV. Our communications we're all by email, but we could tell that we'd like to meet these folks some day... Maybe on our next trip through the area.
We really did have a great time with the host. We had plenty of time to sit on the patio and chat. And a pleasant meal downtown sitting outside.
Great views, cool nights, quiet neighborhood.
We hope the hosts come to see us on one of their winter trips.
T & D are amazing hosts. The location is only 11 minutes to downtown Salida and the views are amazing. I was able to hook up to water with 75 feet of hose and electric a bit closer. They have an amazing house and are great people to hang out with. D is a master brewer and if you have an opportunity to try his creations, you will be amazed at the quality. I now have friends in Salida and I’m hoping they visit me in the winter.
These folks were so friendly and accommodating! We had no trouble leveling our small 25 foot camper. Great to have Wi-Fi, electricity, and water. Very kind folks, and be sure to try some of the home brewed beer!
Wonderful place to stay. Hosts are welcoming, warm and friendly. Salida is a fun town with beautiful mountain views, fun downtown and exciting adventures on the Arkansas River. The instructions from the host are perfect and we have new friends to share adventures with.
Great spot to stay for few days. Arkansas River Valley were very welcoming. Hope to stay with them again.
Piutedrive are awesome hosts! We enjoyed out time here With beautiful views and sunsets. We look forward in returning one day soon. Aloha and Mahalo T&D
And - incredible mountain views.
So happy we got to visit these beautiful, generous folk. Shared an excellent dinner, had several truly exceptional home brewed beers, and got much needed help and advice regarding our van. Hope we get to pass this way again :)
Perfectly hospitable hosts! Thanks for the warm welcome and cold beer! We parked our VW campervan in the driveway and were thankful for a quiet, safe spot that had water and electric hookup. Convenient location for exploring Salida and Buena Vista and everything in between.
Excellent hosts, we had a blast! We really enjoyed our time with these hosts and hope to see them again.
Wonderful hosts and beautiful setting. Love sharing stories and some homemade 🍺 with our most gracious hosts. Would love to make it back here someday.
Wonderful couple, very friendly! Would have loved to chat more and hang out but we all had to do the social distancing.
Thanks for the hospitality and overnight stay for 2 weary travelers. Great location and space. Will definitely go back if in the area. Thanks guys keep up the good job on the beer 🍺👍
Thanks for the lovely evening we spent with you. In the few hours we become friends. Thanks for the snacks and great beers!! (I slept well with it😂)
Hope to see you in the Netherlands!
Johan and Loes
I had a great time here, both at work and play. It is a quite, peaceful and very meditative place with beautiful views and easy access to outdoor activities. Hosts are kind, compassionate, and really fun people to be around! They were so kind to my two kitties, who miss all the extra attention 😹
Wonderful experience. Nice people. Helped us in a pinch. Hope to see them again soon as we only live less than an hour away.
Our hosts (piutedrive) were friendly and delightful to be arround. They were generous with their time and our use of their property. We enjoyed sharing life stories.
It was a also a convenient location to Salida & Buena Vista for outdoor activities. We hope to visit them again.
This has definitely been a highlight of my travels as Doug and Trish are two of the warmest and nicest people you’ll ever meet. So many great conversations over Doug’s master brewed beer selections. Their home provides easy access to historical downtown Salida, a true gem in Colorado. I will treasure the memories of this host experience for years to come!
We may be ultra hosts but D&T are the ultimate hosts. Such wonderful people who welcomed my lil family with open arms. We hope to see y’all again another day!!
There’s no place like home—especially when this dynamic duo rolls out their wonderful welcome mat. We were completely blown away by the beauty of their home and warmth of their hearts. The property is surrounded by stunning mountains flocked by the homeowner’s lush colorful gardens. Their kindness, generosity, and great senses of humor—coupled with the big sky sunsets and starry night magic surrounding their home brought a much-needed, peaceful and centering “sense of place” and levity to our travels. We couldn’t recommend them more—and hope to see them again soon (and not just because their homebrew is hands-down the best beer in the States!)
We loved our time at Arkansas River Valley!! What gorgeous views and even more beautiful hosts :) We were welcomed like family and told to make ourselves at home. We were also given great information about our next location which we were able to use! Amazing hosts and beautiful people. Thank you so very much!!
Happy, sweet, fun couple. We were able to spend time with them under the stars amd have breakfast together the next morning. So fun and a beautiful view!!!!
I cannot recommend staying with Trish and Doug enough! This was our first boondocking experience and I imagine it has set a pretty high bar. We felt so very welcomed and wanted- my personality always worries about imposing on others, but I never felt that way at all here. They introduced us to neighbors and friends and shared insights about the community. It was more than I could have imagined. In particular, I wasn't sure how people might feel about hosting a family with active kids, but our kids felt so welcome that my ten-year-old asked me, "Can't we just stay longer because it's so nice here." We feel like we've made new friends and hope to cross paths again. Also-- Salida is a super fun community with great biking trails, parks, lakes, etc. This location has excellent views of the peaks. We have a large rig and tow vehicle and fit well.
These hosts accepted us at the last minute when we didn’t hear back from other hosts.
Lovely spot with view on hills. Got a chance to enjoy the sunset on their patio and enjoyed a lovely chat over coffee in the morning. The bread was delicious too!
Thank you for the warm welcome :-)
The hosts have been super welcoming hosts, even hosting us while they were gone for the night for a friend's birthday party. They showed us around their property and we had a really nice if short chat before they left. The view on the surrounding mountains is stunning! Can definitely recommend their place.
We enjoyed staying with Arkansas River Valley! They were very welcoming and helped us get settled in. They are very close to the town of Salida and we enjoyed
a hike and walking thru the town. There are many shops and restaurants too.
We felt like we have known this couple for a long time! Very kind and gracious. We hope to stay in touch and stay with them again.😎
Trish and Doug were excellent hosts! It was fun getting to know them and a few of their friends.
Their location is very close to downtown Salida, about a 7 minute drive. You could also bike there since it’s relatively flat. We had a great time and loved the area. Highly recommended!
We had a great stay at Doug and Trish's house. The neighborhood is very quiet and has great views. The location is perfect! Doug and Trish are very welcoming and easy-going. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area! Thank you for your generous hospitality!
