I am retired and my wife works virtually from home. We are both educators and love traveling and meeting new people. I love to work on hot-rods and my wife is a quilter.
I am pretty mechanical and if you like to sew or quilt my wife can share her knowledge.
1 dog that does not travel with us. He roams the neighborhood along with the neighbors dogs. All are friendly.
Small town in Central Florida- we are centrally located between Ft. Meade, Frostproof and Lake Wales. About 15-20 mins. from each. We are about 60 mins.from Disney, Bush Gardens and Sea World and about 30 mins. from Legoland. We are definitely off the beaten path- but in a nice, quiet location on the Lake.
We will be traveling in a 26 ft Sprinter class C. No tow vehicle.
They were very nice, would love to host them anytime they travel thru my location.
Agordon9292 did a fabulous job communicating with us on our way in and got us settled in their beautiful location. We were only there one day, but will definitely return. They are both very friendly and their location is super quiet and looks out on a beautiful lake.
Enjoyed our two nights here and meeting the nice folks who let us stay there. Perfect weather and quiet with plenty of privacy. Hope to come back again some day. Thank you!
This spot is a Boondockers dream with the Spanish moss filled old trees and the large lake. The location is open and quiet. We did not get to spend enough time here and would love to come back. Our host were very accommodating and great folks to meet. Loved it and convent for our day at Disney.
Great site, water view, big flat yard, great hosts, quiet, can't go wrong.
Very friendly hosts and a great stay. Large mowed back yard compound mostly flat on a dead end road. Great view of the lake right from our van caught a fish off their dock. Very quiet spot couldn’t have asked for more. This place is what makes Boondockers welcome so special and unique.
As you approach this host's home you will pass through miles and miles of orange orchards. During our stay most of the trees were laden with oranges. We can only imagine the beautiful scent when the trees are in bloom! The hosts were gracious, meeting us as we arrived and helping us pull into a spot on their large yard overlooking a lake. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing. Thanks!!!
Thank you for your flexibility and presence at being a priceless human BEING
A wonderful setting, welcome, and most pleasant stay. We were treated like family, and Lord Willing hope to visit this very fine family again.
We loved that place. Quite hot in our RV with no electricity.
We just bought a generator after our stay over there. Next time we Will be ready for the heat
This place is everything you could ever wish for in a boondocking stay. These hosts are so welcoming and friendly, you instantly feel like you've been longtime friends. So generous, thoughtful and just genuinely good people. There property, oh their property! So so beautiful and peaceful! We loved having our morning coffee and devotional time on the dock. Our spot was perfectly shaded with views from every window of the lake, level and plenty of space for not only our rig but for our kids to run around. We are so grateful for our stay and hope to someday be able to meet again sometime!
We had a nice restful stay. It is very quiet. Beautiful view. Loved the huge oak with the moss. Agordon9292 were very friendly and we had a short chat . We wish we had more time to visit but we had to get on the road.
Tucked up on the shores of a quiet lake, nestled back in the orange groves. Our hosts we're very communicative and allowed us a completely private experience. We walked along the lake, rode our bikes through the groves, listened to the owls & watched all the brilliant stars under the gorgeous live oak canopy. Thank you for such a pleasant first time boondocking!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The location right at a lake is really beautiful and our hosts made us feel very welcome. If we had not been on a schedule, we would have gladly extended our stay.
Very nice secluded grassy spot near some big Live Oak trees and right on the Lake.
Great spot...thank you.
We'd like to thank these wonderful hosts for letting us enjoy their little slice of heaven! Not only did we practically have 180 degree views of the lake, but the hosts at Shorewood Retreat were very welcoming and helpful. Weather was going into the 30s at night and we were assured that we could use our generator if we needed - or come inside if we were freezing! How warm of a welcome is that?! Super nice folks. If we're coming back through this area, we'd love to stay again!
Really enjoyed our visit! The hosts were friendly and welcoming. Fort Meade reminded me of my hometown. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area.
We really enjoyed the drive to get to this location. The drive through the acres and acres of orange groves made it such a pleasant drive. Then once there, you sit under the blue sky, look at the blue lake, and listen to the birds. It just doesn’t get any better, right?! Oh, but it does! The hosts are SO awesome! They are super helpful, friendly, and informative. We truly enjoyed our time there and would love for them to come visit us sometime. Thanks to both of you for the great hospitality!
The host greeted us upon arrival. She was very nice. It's a beautiful spot with a view of the lake. We enjoyed our very relaxing and peaceful stay. We were able to walk down their very quiet road and met some of their nice neighbors. Thanks for your hospitality.
Enjoyed the great hospitality and beautiful lakeside area. Thank you so much!
Staying here is highly recommended. Warm welcome, easy stay, extraordinary place. Loved it.
The hosts are so accommodating and kind here. Their property is beautiful. We had a great time going here for 2 nights. Would definitely recommend.
Pete and Angie treated us royally and went above and beyond. This spot along the lake is very peaceful. A bonus was watching the neighbor feed the catfish off of his dock. The dead end road provides a super place to walk or bicycle along the orange groves.
They came to meet us on the road to direct us. A very large lot very close to a magnificent lake.
They offered to go to the dock to relax.
Very quiet place. Our hosts received us with burgers, we spent a very nice evening with them and Ryan another boondocker, fortunately because our English is not yet very good.
They made us visit one of their neighbors who feed cats fish.
I recommend a stop at Shorewood Retreat.
Rej & Lyne
Great folks, salt of the earth people. Invited me for dinner and good conversation. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay....although I could've skipped getting so stuck getting out. Listen to Pete!
Great spot rite on a lake
Nice couple quite obliging
Would certainly come back
Wow! Our hosts were so friendly and hospitable! And the property is gorgeous! Probably the most quiet and restful night we've enjoyed in a very long time!
VERY quiet, loved the views of the lake, wonderful to sit on the dock and watch the sunset.
Wonderful stay. Great communication with A and got to meet and chat with P who was very helpful directing us to park.
Property surrounded by Lake Buffon and we were able to enjoy the evening sitting on their fishing pier. Woke up to a gorgeous overcast sky and windy morning after a great nights sleep!
Thank you A and P for your generosity sharing your wonderful home with us.
Peaceful, quiet, and scenic. Easy to find and plenty of room to maneuver around and get parked. Friendly hosts with a beautiful place!
Thank you Agordon9292 for your hospitality. After fighting traffic all day it was a surprise to find our campsite came with a lake view and quiet, peaceful location and access to your boat dock. Sorry we missed you on the way out but I'm sure we will stay with again in the future.
They were extremely nice and helpful. There was a beautiful sunrise over the lake and we got to go on a little boat ride for the morning. Would definitely recommend.
Angie and Pete were very friendly and welcoming! Their place was peaceful and beautiful...we wish we could have stayed longer. :)
If we are ever back in the area we will definitely return. Nice big spot to park right near the water! The one thing to know is there are ants where you will be parking. Not a deal breaker by any means, but just something to be aware of.
Angie & Peter are both wonderful hosts, a great addition to Boondockers Welcome.
Their location in Central Florida is very country like with many orange orchards &
a beautiful lake. Have your camera ready, especially for the beautiful sunsets.
Thank you Angie & Peter, I hope to someday spend more time to get to know you.
We enjoyed to staying in this beautiful place.
The hosts were welcoming and very kind for us.
We went biking all around the lake on the safe road.
Enjoy relaxing on the deck in front of the lake.
Thanks to the hosts for their hospitality.
Linda & Guy
Great hosts, beautiful scenery and near legoland was a huge plus for us! Will definitely return if we are ever back in the area!
Received a warm welcome and had a quiet peaceful overnight at their very tranquil home. Just a perfect stop over on our NE to SW Florida trip. Thank you very much, we really appreciate your kind hospitality.
Wonderful waterfront location! Peacefull and quiet. Our daughter enjoyed watching the rabbits. I enjoyed a bike ride on the dead end street with the aroma of citrus from the orange grove very nice spot and nice people Thanks much!
We recently stayed for just one night on our way through and wished we hadn’t already booked ahead as we would have stayed for more. The spot was flat, quiet and backed right onto a beautiful lake. The hosts met us on arrival and were so generous with their offerings including use of their golf buggy, kayaks and dock. Highly recommend!
The best Boondockers Welcome host and lake site by far! We were welcomed to this beautiful lake setting, by our hosts and invited for a nice dinner. Our coach overlooked the lake, and we launched our kayaks off their boat dock our 1st evening, then after breakfast another kayak stroll. This place is a MUST see gem! Paved roads to driveway, nice shade, and good southern hospitality, by our hosts. Thanks!
