Margot has been a full time homemaker, who loves reading, gardening, yoga, and sharing in travel adventures and grand parenting with Jerry.
We have camped and traveled in many different ways over the years, always on land until 2016-17 when we did America’s Great Loop. After that we went back to road exploration in a converted Sprinter van, then added a lovingly rehabbed Airstream trailer, but we found that we missed the water. Our newest adventure is a 27’ Ranger Tug (boat) towed by a Dodge Ram 2500 truck, which we keep at home in our garage when not in use. We plan to camp in the boat between water points - a boater home, and are hoping to find BW locations willing and able to accommodate our unusual 60’ rig!
Jerry is a skilled mechanic of almost anything that has an engine, and also a compulsive do-it-yourselfer.
Margot dabbles in gardening, cooking, sewing, and loves poetry, philosophy and ideas.
Our mini golden doodle, Koda is our greatest asset when we travel. She loves people and introduces us to as many as she can.
Most recently, Baja California, Mexico.
We love the west - Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Texas, Montana and more. We’re still exploring and loving the Boondockers Welcome advantages.
Our address is Lebanon TN, although we live between Murfreesboro and Lebanon, about thirty minutes out of Nashville.
27’ boat on triple axle trailer towed by Dodge Ram 2500 pickup. Total length 60’.
Very good communicators. Offered to let them stay an extra night. No problem as we were traveling ourselves. Welcome back anytime!
Koda and her parents were great guests. No problems, welcomed back again.
We very much enjoyed visiting with this couple. They were great guests. Their sweet dog, Koda, and our dog, Star had a blast playing with each other and I could have watched them for hours. We wish them a great adventure ahead and safe travels. They are certainly welcome to return to River's Edge.
Such a lovely couple with the best dog ever! Koda, sure did look like you enjoyed yourself! You are all three welcome back anytime!
We THOROUGHLY enjoyed hosting the Fraybirds! We spent our afternoon and evening exchanging stories, and would loved for them to have stayed longer. Hopefully they will return some time - we'd definitely look forward to it!
I forgot to mention their fabulous little red golden doodle, Koda, who our same-sized poodle really enjoyed, as did we! Couldn’t be cuter or sweeter!
We and the friends with whom we were camping felt an instant connection with Fraybirds, from the moment they accepted our invitation to join us at our campsite at the coast, rather than at our home!
They are charming — friendly, interesting and adventurous.
So we were doubly delighted to be able to host them here a few days later, and to have their help finishing off the rest of that 100# bag of oysters!
We feel that we have truly made new friends, and that we will see each other again!
We are two Air Force retirees and really enjoyed walking around the runway with our dogs. Really cool people. Our pad was perfect. We had a 30 amp hookup, water, and a fire pit. It was a lovely stay. Wish we could have stayed longer. On the road again.
This is my second stay at this location but 6 months apart. Once on my way to the northeast and again on my way back to the midwest. It’s a great, quiet, safe, place to stay and the hosts are so gracious and hospitable. Would absolutely recommend this stay if you are in the area. There’s a dumb station less than 10 minutes away at the state park down the street for $5. Thank you again for an excellent stay! I wish we could have spent more time together this time!!
Peaceful private setting with gracious hosts and electric hookup. Always love staying here!
What a wonderful respite. They welcomed us when we arrived. Quiet and enjoyable. Wonderful place to run our dog.
Fray birds are amazing boondocker host! They are welcoming and friendly, I didn’t feel like I was boondocking, more like visiting family and friends. They made sure I had everything I needed to go back on the road to continue my trip to California with my daughter. They even gifted my little girl a foldable bike! I was able to charge up my battery, clean and organized my camper. I hope to be able to come back in the future to visit them again! Thank for for having us!
Margot and Jerry (and Koda, too!) were lovely hosts and their property is simply amazing. This was our first Boondockers Welcome stay and they set the bar high. We look forward to coming back again in the future.
Our stay was great... we came in before the storm and enjoyed a great fire, use of hookups and our puppies lived chasing Koda on the airstrip.
The Frays were awesome and came and saw us off in the rain. We would stay again if in the area.
Strongly recommend the Fraybirds locale.
My hosts were so gracious and accommodating. They made me and the pups feel very welcome.
I even had an electric hookup!
The property is lush, green and private - much better than a campground!
Fraybirds were so kind to accommodate us at the last minute. We had some scheduling changes and had to delay our stay and reschedule. They allowed us to come to visit and we were very thankful. The spot was nicely marked and was easy to find. Back in the woods and so peaceful & quiet. Love all your detailed pictures of the boondocking site. Had fun hunting for mushrooms! We stayed one night but we wanted to stay longer. Maybe next time. Thank you again!
We had some unexpected circumstances that prevented us from visiting and had to cancel our stay They were so understanding and considerate. We are looking forward to staying with them in the near future.
We enjoyed meeting Jerry and Margot and we had a wonderful stay at their place. Everything was ready and perfect for us and we had a peaceful, quiet night on their lovely property. Thanks Fraybirds!
Hosts accepted our last minute request on a holiday weekend even though they had family visiting from across the state and country. We were welcomed to join the family for a wonderful evening on their scenic outdoor deck. Enjoyed every minute getting to know this kind and gracious family, including Ruby and Coda.
Arrived as host was going to dinner with their daughters. They had a surprise visit from one living out west. Quiet evening with dinner by firepit. Next morning we had a short visit and realized we'd traveled some of the same places and of course talked rigs.
This is our first BW visit and we are super happy with our choice to stop here.
Jerry and Margot are very accommodating and made us feel at home right away.
We are loving our visit and have much in common.
Hoping we will have a chance to show them the PNW and San Juan Islands area and planning on returning next year when we travel through here again if at all possible.
Thank you for your hospitality.
You will not be disappointed and will enjoy your stay for sure.
This was our very first BW stay and I'm so glad it was with the Fraybirds! They met us with their dog upon arrival and I was immediately set at ease by how genuinely nice they were. They made sure we were able to get set up and told us to make ourselves at home (and I believe they truly meant that). My only regret was that we didn't get to spend more time talking with them! We would return in a skinny minute if the opportunity arose again!
I had so much fun staying at this stop. They are great people and so hospitable. Their dogs are great too and my dog enjoyed making new friends too. They had everything you could possibly need overnight as far as hookups but I didn’t use because it wasn’t hot enough to need power for AC. I would stay again. Hands down some of the best hosts I’ve ever met!
The Fraybirds are wonderful, warm and friendly hosts. They were very helpful, and wise about their boondocking spot, having us park and walk to the site before pulling our RV down the last section of their drive. It all worked out fine, as we were able to turn our rig around (23 ft TT with truck), but anything larger, or with a toad would not work. Also, with all the rain Tennessee has had, the trees are very full, and width is also a consideration transiting their shared driveway.
If you fit, this is a great spot to boondock. The Roost is beautiful, and you can even stroll along the adjacent airstrip! Highly recommended!!!
The Fraybirds were so kind and welcoming. This was our first night in the camper and first Boondockers Welcome stay. The Fraybirds shared great ideas and inspiration for our camping days to come. Such a quiet, peaceful night in an easy to find location! Thank you!!
Very private and accommodating ... We were warmly welcomed in spite of the rain and covid-19 issues, will Definitely look for an opportunity to go back!
Even with social distancing we had a great visit! I even got fresh garden fare. Right on a grass runway that was a great place for my dogs to run. My hosts were very gracious and interesting to visit with. 5 stars!!
The Frays could not have been more hospitable! They gave us tips on the local area, fed us from their garden and even gave a tour of their hanger. This place is beautiful with walking trails on site and a state park close by. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. a visit.
This was our second time staying with this lovely couple! They were more than welcoming and very accommodating! We loved our evening walks and conversing every once in a while. Sorry we didn' get to chat more. Thank you for the extra perks you gave us! We hope to come back again someday!
This was our second go here. They are an amazingly sweet couple that are extremely generous. We had reached issues and they were very kind. We are so thankful for them.
We had a very peaceful stay here! Our hosts were very accommodating and they were a joy to talk with! We enjoyed our long walks on the airstrip and playing with their dog Koda. We hope to come back soon! Thanks again!
These kind folks were gracious enough to extend our stay one additional night during the Coronavirus outbreak March 2020. People like the Fraybrids that make the world a better place to live. Thanks again to these wonderful folks for their generosity and hospitality.
The Fraybirds are fantastic hosts; friendly and welcoming. Great secluded spot to park most rigs with electric and water if needed. Highly recommended.
These folks were kind enough to put us up during the Coronavirus crisis March 2020.
Cant say enough how wonderful these folks are.
The hosts made me feel so welcome. What a relief this is, especially during the virus scare. They showed concern for my well being which made all the difference to me while I planned the next step toward isolation on a long term scale. Their friendly dog was also a good host to my dog, making her feel welcome. Thank you for a wonderful visit on your beautiful property.
5 of 5 stars!!!!! The Fraybirds are marvelous hosts. They made us feel like long time friends. Ideal spot to park our Truck Camper rig; level gravel spot with electric. Reasonable drive to Nashville. Murfreesboro nearby. A couple of campgrounds just up the highway with dump stations available at reasonable cost. Big rigs might have some challenges getting off the highway to the host location and turning their rig around in the available space.
Cant say enough about how welcoming the hosts were and how much we enjoyed our stay.
We were warmly greeted by our host......a great introduction to his very lovely and peaceful site. The hosts made us feel very welcomed. Their site was quiet and quite attractive. A great overnight stay.
The Fraybirds were perfect hosts..... nice quiet spot and not too far from Nashville for a day trip.

The Fraybirds were very generous in letting us stay at they gorgeous hideaway on their acreage. The 30 amp electric was much appreciated, as well as the tips to park in Nashville. The property is a good launching pad to day trips in and out of Nashville.
Thanks so much Fraybirds.....we will stop back if and when we are back in your neighborhood.

They were so kind and friendly! They met us when we arrived, helped us get settled for the night with a plug in, and even offered us coffee in the morning! Truly some of the most friendly people we've met on the road.
Jerry greeted me and asked if I like beer.
I’m from Wisconsin so obviously a big yes.
I was then treated to a great home made ipa and homemade soup that Margot made.
I have been traveling 6 days and by far the best meal and company of my trip.
I only hope they will travel to Wisconsin one day do I can feed them brats and a few local beers.
Thank you to these great hosts.
We had the pleasure staying with Fraybirds one night extra then requested. It was so peacefull that after spending the day in Nashville the second night was a welcoming one. Although we did not spend a lot of time to sit down with them we felt at home. We would definitely recommend Fraybird as a host location and their wonderful dog Coda was a plus.
What a great coincidence to stay with fellow Loopers. Fun and convivial evening talking over common experiences.
Terrific and hospitable place to stay. Highly recommended!
I had a terrific stay at Frsybirds location. The hosts were personable and gracious! I’d recommend this location to anyone!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Very kind and interesting couple :)
Lovely hosts, lovely setting. Clare felt right at home with her buddy Koda. Thank you Fraybirds. Hope to see you on our return trip.
This place is a great base to explore Nashville from!
It’s hidden from the road but host’s instructions helped us find it easily.
Beautiful spot in the woods with tons of place to park. Hosts were a lovely couple that brought out toys for our kids to play with and welcomed us to get ready to go on the road again.
Thank you for the lovely stay!
Very welcoming hosts. Had a great visit learned of travels and places to see. Super nice people. Great location.
Our hosts proved great company, very generous, and very hospitable. Beautiful quiet area perfect for sleeping.
Unfortunately we were not able to stay at Fraybird's. We had some unexpected circumstances that prevented us from visiting and had to cancel our stay They were so understanding and considerate. We are looking forward to staying with them in the near future.
