We have 50 acres covered with cedar trees and cactus located 40 miles west of Abilene in a small town called Sweetwater, TX. Our place is very quiet and peaceful with eastern views overlooking 9 mile mountain. There is one concrete spot on our place with water and electric and several flat grassy spots with big pull through and easy turning radius capability. The grassy spots have water only.
Sweetwater has plenty of fuel/diesel options including a T/A and Love's (has dump station) truck stop just a couple miles from us. Walmart just 4 miles East of us on I-20 is a little cheaper price wise.
None of our sites provide WiFi but you can pick it up close to our house by sitting near our home by requesting it. We go on a case by case basis but not commonly denied. We request you ask first if you are wanting to take advantage. Cell service is good for all providers I believe and we do live on top of a hill.
Marc retired in 2016 after working 35 years for Oncor. We have a ranch further West from us where we still raise some cattle. Phyllis retired in 2017 after selling her website and retail boutiques located in Snyder and Keller, Texas.
Sweetwater Sunset has easy access to I-20. If you're driving through West TX, we'd love for you to stop in.
Electrician, plumbing, mechanical, construction, rancher
Our 10 year old beloved Sheltie and our 22 year old white mini Schnauzer have gone to Rainbow Heaven.
We are new to boondockers welcome so can not recommend a whole lot on this site just yet.
Marc was born in Sweetwater, TX and has lived here his entire life! Phyllis was born in McAllen, TX, moved to San Antonio her Freshman HS year, then after college, moved to the DFW area and lived there until we married. I promised her if she'd come to West Texas with me that one day we would travel the world.
2016 Fully contained Redwood Fifth Wheel pulled with a 2014 Ram Truck. We have a very quiet generator that runs off our propane.
Too much positive to say! They are traveling with their friends; enjoyed the story of how they met. When I saw these huge Redwood Rigs pull onto my property, I was so excited!! Beautiful Rigs and most of all, beautiful people. That’s the beauty of travel; you get to meet great people.
Unfortunately, they only stayed one night, but we got in a lot of conversation in that small amount of time. I want to travel to Sweetwater to visit more!
They are most definitely welcome here anytime.
It was our pleasure hosting this couple. They are fun and easy going and conversation flowed easily. I was impressed that she is sooooo stylish during travel! Our only regret is not having more time to visit. Hopefully we can accomplish this when they host us!!
Me.n.Marcus are the reason to join BW....to meet new friends!
We enjoyed their visit, we went kayaking, had some great chats, I think they loved our noisy dog. We would love to have them back anytime.
Learned a lot from Marc since he knows much about electricity. We and the dogs had fun with these two and their grandkids.
What a great boondocking experience! We felt like we had known them forever. So warm and welcoming. Hope our paths cross again.
We absolutely loved our two day stop at Sweetwater Sunset! Our dogs loved it as well (probably more than us). Our hosts made us feel at home and taught us a thing or two about starting a campfire 😉. We can't say enough good things about our hosts and look forward to seeing them again on the road!
Very pleasant experience staying with P & M in West Texas. Gorgeous sunsets, beautiful property & really nice hosts. Gracious even in the midst of moving from their beautiful home & hitting the road themselves. Thank you!!
When your driving through Texas and you need a safe, comfortable place to stay for the night, where do you go? Sweetwater Sunset! We were only there over night but we enjoyed our stay and had plenety of room! Thank you to our hosts!
Our stay with this couple was beyond great. They were extremely hospitable and gracious hosts. They have a very spacious area to park on a concrete slab with beautiful scenery. Marc was very accommodating in every aspect. We had some great conversation & he even tried very hard to help find a problem we were having. We left knowing we had made new friends and look forward to them visiting us in NC.
