We mostly have time for long weekends or an occasional week. We camp at least one weekend per month; living in Arizona has its advantages. Adventure traveling is what we prefer. Using Marianne's books to give us ideas and to scope interesting areas.
Good with tools.
Imperial sand dunes (aka Glamis CA). Roosevelt Lake, AZ. Lake Mohave, AZ. Lake Powell, AZ, Organ Pipe Catus National Monument, AZ. Manti-La Sal National Forest, UT (Near Blanding). Idyllwild, CA. Point Mugu State Park, CA.
To boondock year round in Arizona, you need a motorhome that can keep you comfortable in the extreme heat. Our motohome is a 2008 Dynamax XL340. It's like a class B with a Freightliner semi sticking out the front. Two tip-outs on the driver's side, 11.5 foot vertical clearance, 10 foot overhang behind the rear axel. An onboard generator exists to power two 15K btu ACs. We are configured to carry a lot of water if needed, have deep tinted windows, and a big awning. We love it when our adult children join us on our adventures so the size to handle four people comfortably is important. We usually pull something: a boat, a toad, or an 8x5 enclosed utility trailer with dirt bikes. When it's not hot, we are quiet as a mouse with inverter and plenty of battery capacity.
