Sue and I are in our 50's and have been together for 36 years...
4 kids, 3 girls and a boy.
I work for Bell Media Inc. Canada's largest Television and Radio network.
Over seeing Engineering & IT, Facility Management and Fleet.
Sue works for ZW Project Management Inc. as Controller and manages all office and accounting functions.
We are very much DIY.
Our home was a fixer upper and we have done all the renovations ourselves.
Into year 7 of our 10 year completion plan. May have to add a couple more years.
Spent over a year rebuilding a 1961 Seeburg AY-160 Jukebox back to working condition.
Love working on electronics, computers and mechanical projects.
Avid motorcycle riders since 1980. We have ridden coast to coast in Canada.
Sue has also start growing all our own spices and herbs as well as setup raised gardens for vegetables.
We have four pets currently at home, all belong to our "boomerang" children.
Two indoor rabbits: Hodor and Chewy
Hodor is a Flemish Giant and Chewy is a small Angora.
And two dogs on very opposite sides of the spectrum.
Gus, aka Taco, a small Chihuahua and a pure-bred Newfoundland named Cooper.
Cooper is also known as a Landseer for his distinct white and black coat.
I have been camping all over Ontario since I was 5. Sue and I have camped since we met in 1983.
In all those years and trips we have never boondocked or even Walmart parked.
If it wasn't in a family members driveway we have paid to camp and 95% of that was Provincial Parks.
2010 we camped in the USA for the first time. Trip to Michigan and only last year have ventured back into the USA with a trip to New York State.
We are hoping that Boondockers Welcome will become our favorite.....
North Gower is a small City / township within the limits of Ottawa, Ontario. Canada. We have lived on our beautiful 32 acres since moving out of suburbia in 2011. Our property is located on a dead end street and backs onto the 20,000 acre Marlborough Forest.
This was our first boondockers experience. Rob and Sue are wonderful hosts and offer many options to where your can locate your rig on their property. We opted for the true boondock deal... no power.
Rob and Sue are experienced campers and had many stories to share.
They also pointed us to places to visit and eat in the area.
Rob introduced us to what geocaching is all about.
Sue showed us he flower garden which she is very proud of.
Highly recommend anyone to check in to MackeyHouse
This was our second Boondockers Welcome stay and we really loved it! We stayed for 2 nights. The hosts have 20/30/50 amps, top-notch WIFI and also provided a fire pit!
It is a beautiful setting. We would go out of my way to stop here again. The setting is peaceful and quiet and the company from this family makes you feel like you are coming home.
Highly recommended to all Boondockers!
