Almost Retired, Ready to Begin RV'ing

Active Guest

Do you know or have you hosted this user?

I am peri-retired and ready to reconnect with nature and beautiful landscapes through RV'ing. I live in a small and safe rural community. I try to eat healthy, exercise and live sustainably. Once retired I plan to recapture time to get back into the creative arts.

Skills & Expertise to Share

I am a typical DIYer with power tools and have many projects to talk about. I love to cook, grow small gardens and listen to most genres of music. I am a newly licensed ham radio operator.

marylynne's Pets

Dogs are awesome. I previously had a Weimaraner, which was my first dog. Now I love dogs, however, do not have any pets at the moment. Not ready yet, but it is possible that down the road we may look into another dog once the retirement part is done.

Favorite Boondocking Locations

We are just starting out, however I am intrigued by boondocking and can't wait to try it out. It allows so much more flexibility and opportunity.

marylynne's Hometown

I'm from New Orleans, but Texas wants me anyway! I've been in the Houston Clear Lake Area for ~20 years, so now consider myself to be an honorary Texan! It is true that "Houston is an hour away from Houston" and my friends and I have explored many adventures that Houston has in store including Tex-Mex and the local cuisine. Over the years and in between work I've been enjoying trips to Texas Hill Country and many nearby historic towns. Usually, I make one or two trips to New Orleans each year.

Southern hospitality in Texas

Mary Lynne was welcoming, super accommodating and really interesting! We had a nice breakfast with her where we got to chat about van life and future travel plans, and try some delicious cheese jalapeƱo bread :) One thing to note is the driveway is on a steep incline so be careful pulling in/out (angling the van on the way out we were able to leave without scraping). The neighbourhood is really nice and so is her home. Definitely recommend as a great place to stay for a night. Only 15 mins drive from Space Centre Houston, too. Thanks Mary Lynne and happy trails on your upcoming adventures!
