A long traveling couple that now has a classic (antique?) motorhome that loves going new places and meeting other people. We a parking spaces in the back of our large lot. We have done the Walmart circuit and have grown tired of the uncertainly.
Matthew is an effective technician, must be to keep the 45 yo Motorhome reliable.
We are dog owners, but as we live on a large wood lot, one must be cautious with small animals. We do take our pair with us when we go.
We will be in our 15th season with this coach, and we rarely go the same place twice. We have been ONP in a snowmobiler's lot in Paradise, MI and in a COE clearing along the Sturgeon Bar Canal. If they are available, our first choice is often a Cabela's and now we maybe look at Bass Pro.
As we are travelers and not campers, where we are going is anybody's bet.
Our mailing address is Belleville, MI. Where we live bears little relation to our mailing address. If you are looking at a map, look for New Boston. We are in easy striking range of both Detroit Metro Airport and the Henry Ford Museum complex. Though not far from the I-94 and I-275 interchange, you must contact us for approach instructions as this is not simple. Ring the home phone first. Leave a message.
Very nice host and perfect spot to stay for a few nights. We enjoyed the puppies' company too. It was a convenient spot to the Henry Ford Museum. We had been a little frazzled with some unrelated things and made a mistake on the initial reservation. Mattcolie was very understanding, helpful, and welcoming.
A nice place to stay tucked away from roads and towns. Was little tight maneuvering our 30' Class A. but still worked Thanks for having us!
Take care and GOD Bless
We enjoyed our stay.
It should be known that the flight path is directly overhead, so if that is a problem for you, you should find other accommodations. It didn’t bother us much, planes stop about 10 pm until at least 5 am.
Also, FYI, our Progressive (surge protector and EMS) told us that the volts were too high on the electrical outlet offered to us, and it wouldn’t let the power come through to the RV. We opted not to use the electric.
Otherwise, comfortable and safe location.
Mattcolie was very accommodating and helpful in giving us advice on the local area and our future trip into Canada. Overall a very good host!
Our host was very accommodating! We had last minute changes and needed to pick my grandson up at the Detroit airport. This location was a dream—only 6 miles from the airport 😀. If your interested in the Henry Ford Museum they are only 20 minutes from there!
Thanks for a nice stay!
Wonderful stay at Matt's barn! He sure does know a lot of things about RV and mechanic! He was very helpful! He and his wife were very generous of their time and hospitality.
Thank you very much!
Very serene, right next to a corn field. QUIET. The owner is an RVer, and knows the drill. Thanks!
Mattcolie welcomed us to his driveway as he had another boondocker already in the usual spot. The north driveway offered plenty of evening shade and room to move around.
Be forewarned, this spot is not great if you have a huge rig or cannot maneuver you rig well. It’s a tight back in spot or a limited turn around if you drive in forward. The road out front was a bit noisy and you are directly under the airport traffic taking off. But....if you are headed to the Henry Ford this is the closest boondockers..
Do take advantage of our kind host. His knowledge of RVs and repair are vast and I think he will share that if asked. Anyone who road trips in a 45 yr old RV gotta know what he’s talking about!
Matt is an excellent host with lots of helpful information about your travel route, and especially things to see and do in the immediate area. He has a wonderful property where you can park in peace, tucked back off the roadway away from any form of traffic. We highly recommend reaching out to him for a safe place to park your rig, and will be contacting him again when we come to the area with our trailer. Thank you for everything!
Mattcolie was very helpful. We had power and water. It was a little tight for a 28' 5th wheel. I feel bad for putting some ruts in his yard, since I had to turn completely around. It was also tight pulling into the narrow driveway. The mosquitoes were out in force since there had been a lot of rain, just have some spray handy. Overall, we had a nice stay. Thanks
Hosts were friendly and knew all of the ropes as they RV extensively. Had great advice regarding the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in nearby Dearborn. Highly Recommend. Thanks !
