We are a moderately active outdoor loving couple that love sharing our little slice of NH with others. When we get away we enjoy traveling to new places and camping in our teardrop camper. Jackie is retired from the health profession as an occupational therapist and now spends her time kayaking and tending gardens. Her own, clients, and works the spring rush at a local garden center. Richard is a semi retired REALTOR and former owner of a retail store in Durham NH. We enjoy kayaking and paddle boarding on the tidal river which we have frontage on. Our idea of relaxing is a campfire overlooking the river with a glass of wine. In 2019 we celibrated our 40th anniversary.
Richard is pretty handy at fixing most anything mechanical but not electrical. Being totally color blind he cant tell green wires from red wires. Makes for some interesting sparks! Jackie's training as an OT and hand therapist helps her diagnose and fix aches and pains. She is also an amazing gardener. Richard digs holes and moves plants and bushes where he is told to.
We have 3 currently. The oldest is a rescue Border Terrier (Terror) named Gypsy. We think she is about 13 years old but as she is a rescue we are not quite sure. Next is the cat, Mr. Mookie Betts, RED SOX will miss you, who is 6. The newest addition is Tahoe a 2 year old yellow lab who loves everyone! And your socks.
Tahoe travels and camps with us. Gypsy is on probation. Mr. Mookie Betts is waiting till we have a 44 foot Class A that he can rule over. Never going to happen! He is a cat. He will do what ever the hell he wants. Mostly he just clears the neighborhood of mice, chipmunks, and what ever else dares enter the yard.
Here in the east boondocking locations are scarce. That is why this site is so helpful. Especially to us with small campers. Most of our camping is done in the NH, VT, and Maine state parks and National Forest sites. Those are the types of locations we enjoy. We do do some boondocking at music festivals that provide field camping in the New England area. Now retired we are planing on some longer trips.
We live in Dover NH which is on the seacoast of NH about 5 miles inland from Portsmouth and Interstate 95. Richard is a NH native from Dublin NH and Jackie is originally from Westwood Mass.
We are in a teardrop camper so need very little space.
A beautiful property, great location, and most importantly: Wonderful people. Great chats, kayaking, cooking together and all around lovely time here with NHWanderlust. Thuough we didn't know each other 3 days ago and they feel like family now. So helpful, kind and fun. Three sweet 4-legged friends round out the entire experience. Thank you!! <3
We had a great stay. One note, the driveway is sloped so be prepared to jack your camper about 6-8 inches to make it level. Our hosts recommended that we visit the nearby Wagon Hill Farm and it was beautiful, especially walking through the woods down by the water.
We loved our visit to this idyllic riverside home. Our hosts were communicative, friendly and outgoing. We had great talks with them, as well as a wonderful river canoe paddle. Thanks for a wonderful stay! Come visit us on Cape Cod.
Richard is like the uncle everyone loves. His lakeside home is a gem and he was kind enough to share power. The greater first experience using this site!
I had such an amazing stay with NHWanderlust. They were wonderful hosts that made me feel like I was staying with family. We ended up having dinner together 2 of the 3 nights, shared stories with a fire as the sunset and dogs played in their beautiful backyard. They also showed me around the wildlife preserve across the river during a morning walk. I was sad to leave, felt like I was saying bye to family I didn't know when I'd see again!
Thank you guys so much for opening your home to me and my pups. Happy Travels from Kristie, Willie & Nelson!
What a great experience! We stayed with NHWanderlust on our 2nd night of 12 day RV trip. Our high-energy dog played well with their dogs, and it was a very comfortable experience with having a 3 month old baby on our first RV trip. The hosts were very friendly, shared a passion for the outdoors and protection our natural resources, and knowledgeable about the local area in addition to the other areas we planned to travel to in NH.
Had a good time sitting in the back yard watching the river and enjoying the fire and conversation. The two dogs and cat were friendly too.
We felt quite welcome.
Lovely stay with great hosts. Beautiful spot where we enjoyed great evenings outdoors, along the fireside, chatting about this and that. Had the chance to see the surrounding area and will hopefully see you someplace, sometime in the future. Thanks again
NHWanderlust was a wonderful host. We loved their backyard, their dogs and our conversations! Thank you so much for your hospitality!
