My travel companion, Jake Cooke, and I are childhood friends. We both graduated from university in the spring, Jake from an Audio Engineering program and myself from Biochemistry. We decided to celebrate graduation by buying a trailer and travelling across the United States, taking a year to visit universities that interest us, visit national parks and meet interesting people.
We are both musical, and have brought guitars and a keyboard with us to record music while we travel. I am very interested in video, and have brought camera equipment to blog our journey. I played on my local universities basketball team and Jake lived in Whistler for a year in pursuit of a professional snowboarding career.
We are from Kelowna, British Columbia, which is a popular tourist destination because of its wine and waterfront.
A cargo trailer transformed into a livable area. Dodge Ram 250 towing the trailer, so the trailer is detachable. Can run off own batteries or off of a hook-up.
We got a real kick out of these two. their unit was handmade and really nice work inside! The exterior was a little rough, but their personalities made up for that! They reminded us of ourselves back in the late 60s and 70s. They were courteous, quiet and no issues what so ever. They even left us a little gift before they departed on their way to their next adventure!!
Maybe these guys are new to BDW. Maybe we were their first hosts, but once we accepted their stay they did not respond to follow up messages to prepare for their arrival. Nor did they cancel their stay and we had BDers wanting to stay another day but left because we anticipated the boys arrival.
No picture, no phone listed. Thinking back this is unusual. And yet once we accepted their stay they had all our personal info.
Yes things happen on the road but this is the strangest and most concerning BDer experience. They had internet to make the request. Hate to think we were fools.
