My darling wife and I are retired RNs (ER for me, Visiting Nurse for her). We live in upstate New York, in a small town, in a cooperative community which we founded (www.cantinesislandcohousing.org).
We have very broad interests ranging from art, theater and music (especially jazz) to design, construction, engineering and gardening to hiking and camping. We are very fortunate to be very healthy and fit and have most of our fingers and toes. We are ardent environmentalists.
We love the outdoors and most anything associated with it. We love traveling and the experience of new places and old favorites, new people and old friends, new ideas and lifestyles. We have always spent a part of our year traveling widely and living in a small camper, of one kind or another, in diverse environments ranging from the deep forest, miles from anyone, to major, interesting cities with the world outside our door.
Nursing/medical/emergency/pediatric care, camping and woods craft, electrical of all kinds (home, camper, AC, DC, solar), home and camper construction and repair, environmentally sound construction and practices, cooking on a stove or a campfire, basic automotive repair, consensus based community governance.
None that we know of
Cobscook Bay SP, Maine, Bay of Fundy, Dismal Swamp, Okefenokee Swamp, Louisiana delta, Thermopolis, CO, Dead Horse Point, UT, NM, Savannah, GA and many, many more all over the US
We have a small truck camper (slide in), on a 4 wheel drive pickup (about 20' total length), requiring very little in the way of services. We frequently go weeks without a plug-in, we purify our own water, 100 watt solar panel keeps the battery up, propane for most everything else. We're here because we like interacting with people.
