Kayaker, hiker, camper who just enjoys being outdoors. I live on a small farm in an antique granite house surrounded by gardens and woods. I am 20 minutes North of Columbia, SC, and within 30 minutes of four lakes, four rivers, and several smaller creeks where I enjoy kayaking. I created an area for my kayaking friends to camp, and am happy to accommodate boondockers most any time. Room for any size vehicle, water and light power available, also a full bathroom. Pets are welcome.
Kayaking the local waterways. I have spare boats to share with visiting boondockers.
I have no pets.
I am a tent camper, love paddling down rivers and spending the nights on sandbars.
Converted horse trailer. Pulled with Ford F-250 SuperDuty truck.
We had a great time boondocking with Rene we had some great talks and she even gave us some great tips for travelling. We wish her the best on all her further adventures and hope she gets to Canada sometime soon so we can get together again! She is such a lovely woman and we are grateful for her hospitality and going out of her way to take care of us! Thanks again!
We really enjoyed our short stay here. Quiet, peaceful and Rene was really great to chat with. Lots of local knowledge and a fun active person :)
We will definitely be back!
Rene is a wonderful person. She is a Renaissance woman and very generous and supportive.
We had some difficulty with timing but Rene helped us sort this out.
We would like to visit another time.
For someone beginning the life of boondocking I have to say it was a blessing to find such a knowledgeable and gracious host. Renee was so thoughtful to the point of thinking of the weather in the next couple days to accommodate my schooli. It truly takes a certain type of person to be that mindful. The property is amazing and you can see the care and love she has for her land. My dogs loved her and she allowed them to run free in a closed area of her sleeping garden because one is a lil too hyper to be off the leash. She understands the life and freedom of camping and waking up in a new location ever so often. The landscaping and layout of the space is great. And even though I didn’t get on it I loved the swing placed ever so delicately between the trees just past the picnic benches. I love sitting on the stone bench and could feel the earth hum underneath it. I noticed the pathway she is working on and it made me imagine how much work it takes to create them. This space, place, moment to share her world is and will always be remembered.
We loved Brooks Farm! Our Host came out to greet us and direct us to our parking area. What a beautiful location!
Our Host was welcoming and made us feel as if we were long lost friends. We had a lovely spot, and at night there were Christmas lights on the trees outside which made it even better! Our Host had a wealth of information to share with us.
We learned about the history of the area as well as things to do in the various surrounding towns. Our host certainly knows how to make a visitor feel right at home! We will be back!
The home is surrounded by a maze of pristine gardens and beautiful trees--not to mention the biggest rosemary bush I've ever seen. We parked atop the hill under a couple huge oaks and enjoyed the peaceful landscape. An hour's drive away is the amazing and unique Congaree National Park, which I highly recommend visiting. Our host was wonderful and we're so grateful she's offered her homestead to campers!
This place is a real paradise with birds, garden and trees. The host is generous and helpfull. It's a good location for visiting Columbia but its out of town on the countryside.
